Caprikid sat on the edge of the roof, watching the sunset, paintbrush laid beside him. When Ladybug had announced she needed them a full time hero team, he had been surprised when she had chosen him as one of the few.
In his civilian life, he was just some boring artist. There weren't really any traits that made him stand out. It made him wonder why she chose him in the first place. This train of thought had also led to a full sleepless night when he had realized Ladybug probably found out about him through the comic he made with Marc.
When she had first chosen him, Nathaniel was skipping class. The akuma was Chloe (again), so maybe she had just chosen him since he was one of her classmates. He couldn't think of any other reason why. Although, he suspected he was chosen as one of the full time heroes since Genesis let him create any object, which would be useful for Ladybug's plans.
Nevertheless, Caprikid was still grateful for the chance to finally live out his fantasies of being a hero.
"What are you doing?"
He yelped, turning around to see Rooster Bold, holding a bag in his hand with the logo of Marinette's parents' bakery on it.
"Oh, hey babe."
Normally, holders weren't supposed to know each other's identities, but back when they were still temporary heroes, there was an akuma attack where Ladybug didn't have time to separate them to give each other the miraculous. She had to give them out at the same time.
Nathaniel was surprised at first, just at the fact that Marc was Rooster Bold. But he really couldn't be confused about why Ladybug chose him. Of course she picked Marc. The writer was sweet and kind and despite his anxiety at times, he would always try to do the right thing.
He was so amazing. Every day, Nathaniel wondered why Marc had ended up in a relationship with him.
Rooster Bold walked over and sat behind him, wrapping his arms around Caprikid's waist, "How are you?"
Caprikid smiled a little, leaning back against his boyfriend, "Good. Just thinking."
Rooster Bold chuckled, resting his head on Caprikid's shoulder, nuzzling his face into the fluff. He scooted closer a little so his chest was pressed against Caprikid's back, "You're cute."
Caprikid choked on his breath a little, blush quickly spreading across his face, before mumbling, "You gotta stop saying things like that out of nowhere."
Rooster Bold's arms tightened slightly around him, the hero smiling, "I'm just saying the truth." He placed the bag in Caprikid's lap, "I brought snacks for our patrol."
The goat hero opened it, pulling out a macaron. He could practically hear Rooster Bold preening behind him. Caprikid turned slightly, sliding the dessert into his mouth. His boyfriend squeaked a little, not expecting that.
"We can share them," Caprikid said, somewhat amused, eating a macaron of his own.
Rooster Bold blinked at him for a moment, before smiling.
They soon started talking about the events of the day, stories from both school and akuma attacks merging into a conversation filled with laughter.
Nathaniel loved Marc so much. He's so grateful he gets to live out his dream of being a hero with him.
