Work Text:

Valentine's Day, the day of love, passion, and other yucky things.  Sam and Max were asleep in their bed, when all of a sudden, their alarm clock woke them up.  Max sprung up into the air, landing on the ceiling.

"Mmm!  Morning little buddy!"  Sam said as he stretched his arms upward.

"Morning Sam."  Max said as he fell down from the ceiling.

"Ready to start the day, preparing to face death in the face yet again, as we clean up the streets?"  Sam said.

"Not until i get my coffee first..."  Max  grumbled as he hobbled over to the kitchen, and put on the coffee maker.  The coffee maker started to brew a pot of decaf coffee.  Max sat down as Sam also came out of his and Max's room.

"So what do you want for breakfast Max?"  Sam said as he went over to the kitchen.

"Bacon."  Max said.

"Sure thing Sam, I mean Max!"  Sam said as he went over to the fridge to get the bacon.  As he walked over, he noticed the calendar.

"Hey Max, it's Valentine's Day!"  Sam said.

"Ugh, that day where couples go on dates and share gifts?  Barf."  Max said.

"But Max, didn't you have a Valentine's date planned with me?"  Sam said as he put the bacon in the pan he had on the stove.

"Well Sam, we're not going to be all mushy in public like all those lovey-dovey couples, ugh!"  Max said as he winced thinking about it.

"You've got a point Max.  I remember back in high school, when I dated those dames.  I used to make out with them, and you HATED it!"  Sam said.

"Well now those lips are only for kissing me and my razor sharp teeth!"  Max said.

"I wish you would dull them."  Sam said.

"And let the criminals not feel the sharp bite of justice?!  I think not Sam!"  Max said.

"Oh whatever, here's your breakfast and coffee Max."  Sam said as he put a plate of bacon and a cup of coffee.  Max proceeded to down the cup of coffee in a single gulp.

"How's the coffee little buddy?"  Sam said.

"Scalding hot Sam!"  Max said as he shoveled down all the bacon on his plate.

"You could choke if you keep on doing that Max."  Sam said.

"Well Sam, I don't have a gag reflex anymore, so who cares!"  Max mumbled with his mouth full of bacon.

"Oh fine little buddy."  Sam said as Max finished his breakfast.  Sam went to pour a bowl of cereal with some milk, as well as getting a glass of orange juice.  After finishing breakfast it was time to get ready for work.  He and Max did the rest of their morning routine, got dressed, or well, not do anything in Max's situation.  The two got in the DeSoto, and headed to their office in Manhattan.

~~

It was late afternoon, when Sam and Max were just lounging around.  They had taken a case from the Commissioner, about some sentient heart going around stealing people's hearts.

"Well that case sure was a doozy, wasn't it Max?"  Sam said.

"I'm not sure doozy is a real word Sam."  Max said.

"Oh whatever!"  Sam said.

"Well Sam, I can't believe an anthropomorphic Valentine's heart was going around stealing actual hearts for some stupid mad scientist scheme!  There's money to be made on those hearts on the black market!"  Max said.

"You're right little buddy!"  Sam said.  He then heard a knock on the door.

"C'mon in!"  Sam said as Flint Paper came into the office, holding some chocolate and wine.

"Hey Sam, hey Max."  Flint said.

"Oh Flint, you should have led with something more romantic!"  Max said as he looked at the wine and chocolate.

"Ah, it's not like that.  I just got some chocolate and wine from some fans for Valentine's Day.  Only problem is that I don't really like chocolate or wine.  You know I don't have much of a sweet tooth, and I prefer scotch over wine.  So I thought I might just give it to you two."  Flint said.

"Well that's nice of you Flint."  Sam said.

"Ah, don't worry about it, now I've got to go sort through my mail so I can actually find the stuff I need hidden between all the love letters."  Flint said as he left the office.

"Wow, that Flint Paper sure is a regular magnet for love, isn't he?"  Sam said.

"Oh Sam, I'm sure this is just another day in the life of Flint Paper!"  Max said.

"You want to go now?"  Sam said as he looked at the clock.

"Sure thing Sam!  I want to get ready for our date!"  Max said as the two left the office, and headed for the DeSoto.

~~

"Alright turn right here!"  Max said as he directed Sam, who was driving the DeSoto.

"Where exactly are we going Max?"  Sam said as he focused on the road.

"Oh, you'll see!"  Max said as they finally reached their location.

"A love hotel?!"  Sam said as he looked at the place.

"Hey, don't worry about it Sam, we're here to have a night of fun..."  Max said seductively.

"Oh, alright."  Sam said.

"C'mon!"  Max said as he hopped out of the car.  Sam followed him.

~~

"HAH!  TAKE THAT SAM!"  Max said as he scored a goal against Sam in air hockey.

"Wow Max, I didn't know this place had one of the best arcades in the city!"  Sam said.  The room around them was filled with arcade machines, ping pong tables, and other goodies.

"Well Sam, I knew you'd like a place like this!"  Max said as he blocked Sam from getting a goal.

"Aw, thanks little buddy, this is the best Valentine's Day gift!"  Sam said.

"No problem Sam!  You want to try some Street Fighter II after this?"  Max said as he pointed to the Street Fighter 2 arcade machine in the room.

"Sure thing little buddy!  I remember playing that all the time at the local Pizza Hut as a kid!"  Sam said.

"Well c'mon, let's go!"  Max said as the two ended their game, ready to have more fun.
