Chapter Text

“How does it taste?” Yoo Jonghyuk looked over at Kim Dokja, who was eating a small piece of pancake with his mouth swelling up.

Yoo Jonghyuk’s patience dwindled as time went on. For the past five minutes, he’s been staring at it. He did, in fact, keep track of each and every one of those ticks on his watch.

Kim Dokja’s voice cracked slightly as he said, “Okay enough, I must say.”

You just have bad taste.” Yoo Joonghyuk huffed and rolled his eyes in frustration, causing Kim Dokja to chuckle lightly.

“So, Mr. Yoo Jonghyuk, my husband is that bad taste?”

“I’m referring to your eating preferences.”

“I need to inform Sooyoung about my lovely boyfriend defending himself when he obviously called himself a jerk.” Yoo Jonghyuk, who appeared to be in a bad mood, received a wink from Kim Dokja. The notion of Han Sooyoung mocking him about it made Yoo Jonghyuk wince.

“Do not even think about it, you fool.” Yoo Jonghyuk made a threatening remark in this regard.

Kim Dokja wrapped his arms around himself and let out a loud gasp.”Your threats have crushed my heart, Jonghyuk-ah.”

“Can we please simply enjoy this picnic date without bickering for a change?” Yoo Joonghyuk exhaled a sigh. He was plainly worn out and in need of a refreshing drink to help him cool down his rage and exhaustion. Definitely.

As the wind blew through his hair, Kim Dokja’s grin grew wider and wider. When a particularly powerful gust of wind blew across his hair, it fluttered dramatically and stunningly.

Yoo Jonghyuk can’t help but desire to touch that hair with his own hands because they’re so beautiful. Just by looking at Kim Dokja’s charming smile, he was able to let go of all his anxieties and resentment.

Kim Dokja sneezed and trembled, his body becoming colder as a result of the wind.

Yoo Jonghyuk hurriedly wrapped a black cotton blanket around Kim Dokja and cuddled into the crook of Kim Dokja’s neck to keep him warm.

“Don’t you think you’re acting like a big baby?” Kim Dokja caressed Yoo Jonghyuk’s hair while softly humming.

“Your big baby,” Yoo Jonghyuk hummed.

“Yes, only mine,” Kim Dokja purred in agreement.

Yoo Jonghyuk sighed, which made Kim Dokja chuckle at how tickled Yoo Jonghyuk’s breath felt on his neck.

They cradled each other in their arms, seeking warmth and a sense of belonging. Together, they savoured the peace and quiet of the moment.

“I’ve been wondering,” Kim Dokja said, breaking the silence.

“Hmm?”

“I’m curious about your appearance.” Kim Dokja murmured quietly, his voice slightly cracked. In return, Yoo Jonghyuk tightened his grip on Kim Dokja’s waist.

“I’m curious as to whether or not others think you’re physically attractive. I’d consider it a huge blessing if I could start my day by waking up and spending hours staring at you. What matters is that I get a better sense of who you are by your appearance, not whether you’re handsome or not.”

Kim Dokja continued to ramble, quickly but slowly enough for his words to catch up with him.

Yoo Jonghyuk kissed his nape softly and glanced up at a flustered Kim Dokja.

“First and foremost, I am not unattractive,” Yoo Jonghyuk growled, but his voice was mild enough to indicate he was only joking and lightening the tone between them.

“Are you certain?” Kim Dokja teasingly raised his brows.

“Kim Dokja,”

“Y-yes?” Kim Dokja frowned and strummed out at how gloomy and solemn Yoo Jonghyuk sounded.

Yoo Jonghyuk gently squeezed Kim Dokja’s hand in his palm, reassuringly. He brought Kim Dokja’s thin palm to his face and carefully closed his eyes.

“Touch me,”

Kim Dokja hesitated at first but leaned forward when he sensed You Jonghyuk’s relaxed and ready demeanour.

Yoo Jonghyuk’s rugged cheeks were lovingly caressing by his only and only love of his life. He let himself be submerged in it as he tried to picture the face of the one he loved.

Yoo Jonghyuk exhaled gently and leaned into the soft touches on his face as he relaxed and let out a quiet sigh. He wanted this moment to linger forever, for the clock to stop ticking, and for them to be left alone in their own little universe.

“Oh yeah, you have a really sharp jawline, but that still doesn’t answer my question of whether you’re ugly or not,” Kim Dokja snickered.

“Sometimes I wonder about your feelings for me,” Yoo Jonghyuk said, his voice hard and serious, but his sulking look betrayed emotions. Unfortunately, Kim Dokja was unable to witness it.

In response, Kim Dokja pinched the bridge of Yoo Jonghyuk’s nose.

“You get an extra point for your nose!” Kim Dokja exclaimed eagerly as he ran his finger across Yoo Jonghyuk’s nose, attempting to gauge its size and form.

“It’s big,” he should not have said aloud. When he realized what he had said, his cheeks flushed deep crimson. Yoo Jonghyuk smugly grinned.

“Dokja-ya, you might want to recall the size of it since you might need to compare the size of it with my other nose in the future?” Yoo Jonghyuk inquired, his husky voice making each syllable more flirtatious.

“Shut up, fool!” Kim Dokja dropped his head in embarrassment, burying his face in Yoo Jonghyuk’s large chest.

“As far as I recall, you are aware of the size of my other nose, right?”

“If you don’t fucking shut up, I’ll kill you.” Kim Dokja tried hard to sound demanding, but he didn’t succeed since he was embarrassed.

“Sorry about that. “And what about my eyes?” Yoo Jonghyuk let out a snort. In spite of his desire to further torment his beloved, however, he refrained from doing so for fear of having to cope with a grumpy Kim Dokja is well aware of his obstinacy.

“You have almond-shaped eyes, which is appealing.” Kim Dokja nodded his head and hummed.

“So?”

“So what?”

“ How do you think I look? “

“Definitely resembles a sunfish.”

“I’m so done with you.” Yoo Jonghyuk crossed his arms and pushed his head out of Kim Dokja’s reach.

“Yes yeah, whatever you say, but remember, you can never get rid of me,” Kim Dokja joked, reaching forward and placing a gentle kiss on Yoo Jonghyuk’s left ear.

“You missed it” Yoo Jonghyuk remarked softly yet teasingly, his eyes full of adoration and love for the person in front of him.

“Y-you!” Kim Dokja blurted out, knowing he had missed Yoo Jonghyuk’s lips, but it didn’t mean that bastard could taunt him for such a minor blunder.

“I love you,” Yoo Jonghyuk said softly, reaching out his hand and grasping Kim Dokja’s palm in a comforting manner.

“You already know what I’d say—you know what, forget it.” Kim Dokja sighed, tears streaming down his cheeks.

Kim Dokja felt so loved and spoiled for the first time in his life that he wondered what he had ever done to deserve a partner like Yoo Jonghyuk.

He certainly does not deserve anything in his life, as someone who lost his eyesight at a young age due to neglect and abuse at the hands of his own father. To his mind, he was destined to live out the rest of his days alone.

Overthinking, suffocating himself, and refusing to accept that he was loved and cared for, he was unable to move forward and his own thoughts haunted and ate him alive every day. Thankfully now with the support of his friends, his adoptive parents, and his children, all of whom want to spend time with him, he has everything he needs, it was just hard for him to accept and get used to the love he is being given.

Yoo Jonghyuk, Kim Dokja’s husband, was willing to sacrifice himself for him.

Yoo Jonghyuk, no matter how cold he is, is undeniably whipped and helplessly in love.

When Kim Dokja required it, he’d land his shoulders and ears.

He’d clear his schedule just to spend more time with Kim Dokja

.

He’d cook for Kim Dokja only to make sure his foolish lover didn’t skip his meals.

Yoo Jonghyuk could care for Kim Dokja if he couldn’t care for himself.

He is a man of few words, yet he physically demonstrated to Kim Dokja how much he cared about him.

Everyone knows they’re madly in love with one other. What was once a question is now a fact.

Kim Dokja sighed and wiped away his tears, a small smile of realization on his face lightning up Yoo Jonghyuk’s life.

Now he’s ready to face his destiny, isn’t he?

“I love you too, Jonghyuk-ah,” he whispered, feeling a hand tightening around his hips in a reassuring way.

Heat rose from his stomach to his chest as Yoo Jonghyuk’s lips approached and his heart skipped a beat, the fragrance of forestry and the undertone of green tea captivating beyond reason, the smell of Yoo Jonghyuk addictive to him.

Yoo Jonghyuk’s lips lightly touched Kim Dokja’s lips. They both smiled as their hearts hammered.

Yoo Jonghyuk could only think about how soft Kim Dokja felt against his lips, how addictively he overwhelmed all of his senses. They’d had kisses before, but for some reason, it felt like their first kiss, complete with all the feelings that come with it.

The way his fingers curled around Kim Dokja’s was filled with real emotion. Yoo Jonghyuk kept his eyes half-opened, sneaking a remorseful glance at the flustered and pleased Kim Dokja.

“You’re so tempting- that’s not fair,” Kim Dokja said as they parted away, inhaling and exhaling due to him sucking in a breath when kissing Yoo Jonghyuk.

“I’m glad I made you feel things.”

“That is simply because we’re married.”

“So you’re saying that you wouldn’t care or love me if we weren’t married?”

Yoo Jonghyuk, confused, queried. Well, he wasn’t really confused, he was just trying to mess around more.

“How in the world did you get to that conclusion?” Kim Dokja arched his brow.

“I’m just saying, no hard feelings, my love.”

“Yeah, I still don’t believe you.” Kim Dokja responded, his knees almost giving way as he heard Yoo Jonghyuk utter the last phrase.

Yoo Jonghyuk stroked Kim Dokja’s back and tightly clutched his hand as they stood up together.

Kim Dokja closed his eyes and rested his head on Yoo Jonghyuk’s shoulder.

“Is it already sunset?” Kim Dokja inquired quietly.

“It is, indeed.”

Yoo Jonghyuk gently kissed Kim Dokja on the cheek as the sun slowly sank below the horizon, casting a soft glow of red and orange across the sky above them.

Yoo Jonghyuk can feel all of his grief, sorrows, and exhaustion melting away as he holds Kim Dokja in his arms and gazes at the sunset.

He had promised himself that he would look after Kim Dokja. It wasn’t rotten work for him, especially since it was Kim Dokja.

He devoted his entire life to Kim Dokja.

For the time being, all he could desire was for Kim Dokja to be able to see again, to know and understand every aspect of Yoo Jonghyuk as he did.

“Thank you for making me happy. You have changed my life”

Smitten by the tenderness of Yoo Jonghyuk’s voice, Jonghyuk confessed.

What are you doing? Aren’t you being- uh so romantically dramatic right now? I mean yes I cant see the sunset even though it must be so mesmerizing and a good time to have a heart-to-heart talk, but you still sound so-“ A loud chuckle cut off Kim Dokja’s embarrassing ramblings. He was about to say something else when the laugh interrupted him.

As it turns out, Yoo Jonghyuk’s genuine laugh was in fact genuine, and it was only reserved for Kim Dokja.

“Kim Dokja, we’re married.” Yoo Jonghyuk replied affectionately, “It was meant to be natural for you if I ever confessed like this to you.”

“I’ll show you every side of me, so please show me every side of yourself as well.”

“I’ll wait for you; just don’t suffer alone; let me suffer beside you.”

“Please allow me to stay with you indefinitely.”

“I’ll find you again, wherever we wind up, even if it’s in another universe.”

“I can wait; I’m not leaving, but you might, and that’s my biggest fear.”

Yoo Jonghyuk exhaled, his forehead brushing against Kim Dokja’s. Every word has a deep meaning and expresses all of his hidden emotions.

Kim Dokja, on the other hand, was weak on his knees, tearing up as he avoided Yoo Jonghyuk’s eye contact, and flushed bright red. He really is weak whenever someone showers him with love.

“You accept me even though I’m blind?”

“I love you for who you are, how you try, and what you do. It has nothing to do with my type nor myself, it’s all about you. You’re a fool. You have your own flaws and troubles, but I accepted those long ago. I’m yours and you’re mine. That’s all that matters. “

“All right,” Kim Dokja said quietly.

“That’s all I need.” Yoo Jonghyuk laughed and embraced his husband.

Yoo Jonghyuk is undeniably whipped.

Kim Dokja is loved and cared for.
