Chapter Text
Izuku felt distressed, despondent, and guilty for all of 36 hours after Aizawa-sensei left him with a thought provoking sentence ("Oh yeah, you won't have to deal with Bakugou Katsuki in the future."). He was glad he had the whole weekend to reflect because he woke up on the third day of school feeling an emotion that he hadn't been aware of in a while, rage. Rage that felt like it had been simmering for over a decade.
He blinked, being sensitive to emotions that he was never normally allowed to express, and feeling very muddled. The anger sat in his chest building up and up, clawing at his skin to finally be set free from the minuscule cage that it once was locked in and eager to let itself be known.
What was he angry at? He didn't know! Well, he did know, but it had been a while since he had last let himself actually be angry, when he had realized that his teachers wouldn't lift a finger to do anything to stop his bullies, even actively participating. Therefore, he ended up having to learn to restrain his anger and other abnormalities. He guessed that Aizawa-sensei straight up Texas Smashing that mold broke the dam that had been holding his resentment back.
However, the fact that after being exposed to Bakugou's anger and abuse for over a decade, he might actually get punished? The fact that it took him having a quirk to get that experience? (Although Aizawa-sensei knew about his previous quirklessness, he couldn't help but feel that way.)
The fact that all of this could have been prevented if his old teachers actually cared about the well-being of their students and not some pipe dream that one of their alumni would become famous and recognize them to bring them profit?
It was absolutely rage inducing.
One part of Izuku hoped that UA would expel Bakugou, so he didn't have to deal with him in school at all. However, another part of him realizes, contemptuously, the fact that without heroism as a crutch, Bakugou would turn out to be a villain.
So, yeah, the realistic course of action was—
"He's getting expelled." Aizawa deadpanned to Izuku, who deflated like a balloon. Honestly, this wasn't what he was expecting at all, even if Aizawa-sensei explained this to him before—this action was completely alien to him, teachers loved Bakugou and hated him, so if anything, he would've expected himself to be the one with his hero schooling on the line, not Kacchan, never Kacchan.
He is totally going to blame me for this, Izuku thought to himself worriedly.
"If the first thing he does is blame you, then he's not cut out for UA or to be a hero." Aizawa-sensei said curtly, which made Izuku flinch because there goes Aizawa-sensei, again, stating his deepest and darkest thoughts out-loud. It should've made him upset or even disappointed at this, but the way his shoulders slumped in relief gives him away. Good thing I have that back-up plan, just incase Kacchan, I mean Katsuki, ever went villain, Izuku mused. Because the first thing I can guarantee is that Katsuki is going to come after me.
"I have a meeting with the Bakugou's in 10 minutes, so go to your seat." Izuku quickly moved towards his desk, having come to school a whole 30 minutes before class started, beating out Iida by 15 minutes or so. Izuku rested his head on his desk, wondering how school would look now that Katsuki, whom he's been in the same class with since Pre-K, was removed from his school life. Would he actually have a chance to make friends with his classmates without being isolated?
To be honest, if there was anything Izuku wanted more than being a hero, it was to have friends—real friends. Ones who wouldn't throw him away if they found out about his past quirklessness or who wouldn't call him creepy because his thoughts went ahead of his mouth and caused him to mutter constantly. With this thought in mind, Izuku unknowingly fell asleep on his desk.
Meanwhile, a floor above Class 1-A, in the Principal's office, Aizawa sat beside two identical looking blondes and a brunette. However, they were all looking at the creature sitting at the giant desk in front of them.
"That's right. It's me, Nezu, the one who could be a dog or a mouse or a bear, but more importantly...I'm the principal!" The creature introduced himself cheerfully, making himself known as the principal of UA, Nezu. Bakugou Katsuki couldn't help but fidget in his seat, having an ominous feeling as to why he was seated in this office so early in the morning and it didn't feel like he was going to be praised by looking at his hobo teacher's unimpressed face. "Could I interest you in some tea?"
They watched as the mouse-bear thing pulled a tea set out of his desk, fully steaming. The Bakugou's glanced at each other before tacitly rejecting the offer. Katsuki watched his hobo teacher take one of the fancy looking cups and down it, before plopping it back on the principal's desk.
"Could you please explain why we are here today?" Bakugou Mitsuki, uncharacteristically, asked. Her husband grabbed her hand, understanding her apprehension. In all their son's years of schooling and his terrible attitude, this might be the first time they've been called to speak to a principal about something other than praise and flattery. She looked at her son from the corner of her eye, taking in his body language before looking back at Nezu.
"Oh yes! It's come to our attention that some things have been left out of your son's file," The elder Bakugou's slumped in relief at the principal's words while Katsuki tensed up. Something wasn't right— "Like the fact that he has been physically and verbally assaulting one of his classmates for the better part of a decade. For all intents and purposes, he should have a black mark on his record, yet he doesn't."
The atmosphere was hushed for all of one minute before a loud smack filled the air. Bakugou Mitsuki glared at her son.
"It was Izuku-chan, wasn't it? We've told you time and time again to leave him alone after Inko told us what you did!" She reared her hand once again to try to smack some sense into her son but was held back by her husband, who looked angry and that was never a good sign. She quickly got herself together before looking back at the principal, who was gazing at them with an unreadable look on his face.
"I did try to get that Deku to leave me alone but he kept following me, so I took measures into my own hands!" Katsuki snarled, characteristically unreasonable. Mitsuki clasped her hands together tightly to prevent herself from smacking the hell out of her son. What happened to him? When did he ever get this bad?
"We will talk about this later." Bakugou Masaru cut in quietly, but the way he said it, his tone made Katsuki shut right up. Nezu and Aizawa watched on both glancing at each other during the interaction to figure out how to go about the rest of this meeting.
"So you have been notified about his behavior before?" Aizawa asked the elder Bakugou's, letting his hands clench in his pockets after setting the expulsion paperwork down on Nezu's desk. When Katsuki saw what the paper said, he, for the first time in his life, felt like someone pulled a rug from up under his feet. I'm being expelled? I'm supposed to become the Number One hero! I have an amazing quirk! Everyone has said so! Everyone including Deku—
"Not by any school he's attended, only Inko—Izuku-chan's mother—has ever said anything about his behavior." Mitsuki, then turned to look at Katsuki, more furious than he'd ever seen her. "We thought we had a long conversation about this, about how he's treating people, especially people who he's supposed to be friends with, but I guess it never stuck with him."
"Well, that may be a problem," Nezu said, folding his little paws together. His beady eyes bore into Katsuki's, making the younger blond sweat. Although, Katsuki couldn't tell what the rat was thinking, he could suddenly feel how serious this meeting actually was. He was actually going to have...consequences for his actions? Against that lying quirkless loser, Deku? They'd rather get rid of him than Deku? Katsuki, for the second time in his life, felt dread. Clenching his shaking hands, he looked down at the carpeted flooring. "If he has been talked to about his behavior, then why has he continued to act so aberrantly? I was under the impression that it was a societal norm to change your behavior to fit the status quo."
"It means that he has either taken it upon himself to treat others like trash or was taught to do it." Aizawa growled, eyes turning red as his quirk activates subconsciously. He remembered what Midoriya told him during his Quirk Counseling session quite clearly ("...teachers don't...like me."), which proves that his past teachers were feeding into the discrimination that he faced. Well, it seemed to be that time of year where Nezu destroyed school districts for fun.
"Well, Bakugou Katsuki? Which is it?" Nezu asked the boy, curious as to which choice he would make.
