Summary
Four years after Cas has been taken by the Empty, Dean and Sam find themselves leading completely different lives. With the world open to them, the boys finally get to write their own stories. Sam thinks his is going as well as can be expected. If you asked Dean, he'd say his is too - continually fucked up by his own nature, helpless to be anything but who he truly is: a letdown. Dean has reconnected with someone from his past, who provides a measure of solace and comfort. Even so, Dean's mind is always on Cas, and his heart seems like it went with Cas to the empty.
