"Ingo!" A distant voice shouted to the warden, catching his attention. He looked to see Akari carrying something in her arms. "Hello Akari. Did you need something?" Ingo asked with a smile. "Look!" She held up a white pokemon up to him and it looked at him curiously. "Is that what I think it is?" The cry it made confirmed Ingo's suspicious. "Zor?" It said in a quiet but cute cry. "It's a Hisuian Zorua!" Akari said in a happy tone. "I'm rather impressed. I've heard that they're slightly shy around humans so they are rarely spotted." Akari smiled. "I rescued him from a pack of Swinubs that were bullying this poor thing." The Zorua let out a yelp as if confirming the story. "Then he decided to come with me!"
The Zorua let out a happy yelp as it rubbed it's nose against Akari's. 'This Zorua is diffrent than the one I know.' Ingo inwardly thought. Although he can't figure out why he remembers Zorua being diffrent. "Hey Ingo." Akari said that snapped Ingo out of his thoughts. "Yes?" He asked. "I want to nickname him but I'm not sure what to call him. Do you have any ideas?" Ingo hummed in thought. "Since this one is going to be your new friend, why don't you give him a name that you think is fitting."
Akari looked at Zorua for a few moments before smiling. "Emmet." Ingo gave a surprised look. "Emmet?" Akari nodded. "It was the first name that came to me." Akari said as she put the newly named Zorua down. Emmet let out a happy yelp and wagged it's tail at the new name. 'Emmet...' Ingo thought. A sudden pain caused him to grab his head and squeezed his eyes shut. "Ingo!" Akari yelled, startled by the sudden reaction.
"Hey, Ingo!" Ingo turned to another with a face similar to his. "Yes Emmet?" Ingo calmly said. "The Battle Subway is about to open. What do you say we get those trains a rolling?" Ingo smiled. "Of course. All aboard to the Battle Subway." Emmet laughed. "You know, just cause we're train conductors doesn't mean you have to add conductor catchphrases to your everyday life!" Ingo smiled. "Sorry, I'm just so used to it now." Emmet smiled back at him. "Then, onwards! To the Battle Subway we go!"
Ingo awoke with a groan to see a roof over his head. He realized that it was the roof of the medical corps. Then his vision became obscured by the face of Emmet. It let out a cry that sounded happy to see him awake. Slowly, he sat up and Emmet sat in front of him. "Ra!" He said happily. "Hello Emmet." Ingo said as he petted him. "Where's Akari?" As if on cue, Akari came running torwards his bed. "Ingo! I'm so glad you're ok! What happened? You just suddenly collapsed!" She shouted in worry.
"I'm fine Akari. I think your nickname triggered a memory for me." The worried look on her face became one of surprise. "R-Really?" Ingo nodded and continued to pet Emmet. "I...have a brother. His name was also Emmet." Akari sat down on the bed and continued to listen. "He had a similar face to mine and I think he was my twin brother. We ran a...battle subway? I'm not sure what that is but we seemed to be happy together." Akari hummed as she took in all this info.
"Zor!" Emmet looked up at Ingo with a curious gaze and Ingo smiled at him. "I'm glad you remembered more of your past. But I'm curious, even if you don't fully remember him, do you miss your brother?" Ingo closed his eyes in thought. He had a brother, a twin no less, yet he knows next to nothing about him besides his name and face. But even then, he still feels a tiny pang of sadness when he thinks of him. "Yes, I guess I do." Akari smiled sadly. "I'm sure he misses you too Ingo." It became silent as Emmet looked between the two.
Then Akari picked up Emmet and held him up to him. "Would you like to take care of Emmet? I know it's not the same but..." Ingo stared at the Zorua as he stared back. Gently, he took Emmet into his arms. "I would love to."
A few weeks after Akari had given him Emmet, Ingo had to admit that he had fun taking care of him. He felt like a little brother to him. He was currently playing with him when Adaman approached him. "Warden Ingo, Commander Kamado requests your presence." Ingo was a bit surprised by the sudden summon but he thanked Adaman and headed to the Galaxy Team's headquarters with Emmet by his side. Upon entering the headquarters, Kamado was already there waiting for him.
"I thank you for coming so quickly. Please follow me." Ingo nodded and followed him to the medical bay. Irida and Akari were already here and talking with the nurses. In the bed was a man who was asleep. He seemed to be covered in frost but it was difficult to tell with his white coat. Oddly enough, his coat looked like Ingo's, although it is now torn in places. And his face...also looked liked his. And he was shivering violently despite having more than 3 blankets on him.
"This young man was found in a cave by Akari in the Alabaster Icelands. He would've froze to death if Irida and her didn't quickly transport him back to the village. He's like both you and Akari. He appeared out of nowhere but we assume he came through the space-time rift." Ingo stared at the man. Could this man be Emmet? His twin brother? He looked exactly like how he did in that flashback. "One other thing, he was holding this when Akari found him." Kamado gave Ingo a photo. It was a picture of him and this man, smiling happily together. There was writing on it that said 'Our 30th birthday'.
Looking over at the man, Ingo felt a tiny sense of familiarity. "I think...he's my twin brother." Ingo said after a long moment of silence. Everyone, except Akari, turned to him a bit surprised. Suddenly, Emmet gave a tiny yelp as the man started to wake up. Kamado, Akari, and Irida joined Ingo so they could greet this man. Once the man had woken slightly, he took a moment to take in his surroundings. But when his eyes landed on Ingo they shot open in shock. "Ingo!" He shouted.
He sat up properly and smiled but it faltered when he realized he wasn't smiling back at him. "Ingo? Are you alright?" Ingo wasn't sure what to say but thankfully Irida stepped in. "I'm Irida, leader of the Pearl Clan. You seem familiar with Ingo, one of our wardens. Can you explain how you know him?" The man had a confused look but answered nonetheless. "Of course I know him. He's my twin brother." Kamado turned to Ingo with a questioning look and all Ingo could do was stare at the floor. Akari and Irida gave the man a sad look. "I'm sorry but...Ingo can't remember anything. When we found him, all he could remember was his name." Irida explained.
The man looked to Ingo in both shock and sadness. "Ingo...you really don't remember me? Your twin, Emmet?" At the mention of his name the Zorua let out a yelp and looked torwards Emmet who looked confused at the pokemon. "My memories have slowly been coming back. Akari showed me her new friend and gave him the nickname Emmet. It triggered a memory and I saw you. So while I don't fully remember you, I do feel some form of attachment to you. Oh, and this little Zorua's nickname is also Emmet."
Emmet was shocked to hear that this pokemon was a Zorua since it looks 'different' to the one he knows. But he was happy to hear that his brother hadn't completely forgotten him. "Forgive me for interrupting but may I ask how you came here?" Kamado asked. Emmet hummed as he thought about how to explain his story. "Well...I was at home sleeping when a voice started speaking to me in my dreams. It said that it will reunite me with my brother but I wouldn't be able to return to the place we know as home. But I accepted it since nothing was more important to me than being there for my brother. And then I woke up in that frigid wasteland."
As everyone took in his story Emmet kept staring between Ingo and the Zorua. The Zorua eventually hopped onto the bed and cuddled up next to Emmet. Emmet smiled a bit at that. For a while it was awkward silence until Commander Kamado spoke up. "Well then, once you recovered your strength, I think you should go with Ingo and help him regain his memories that he has lost. Though I wouldn't mind if you come visit and tell us about what your home is like." Emmet smiled, "Yes sir."
A few hours after Emmet recovered his strength he followed Ingo to his home in the highlands. They both sat at his table while the Zorua slept comfortably next to the hearth. It was mostly Emmet doing the talking, telling Ingo facts about himself to see if it could trigger any memories. It didn't seem to work but Ingo was just happy to be with his brother, even without his memories there's an invisible link that binds them. And Ingo knows that whatever is to come, his brother will be by his side.
