Chapter Text
The night was cool, the wind was blowing and the sounds of the city filled the air. Tubbo and his ex-friends stood in a stand still in the middle of an alleyway, nobody daring to make the first move on the others. It was a nice night. One that an ordinary person wouldn’t think twice about, but for Tubbo this night was anything but forgettable. This was the night that his life went downhill.
Let's backtrack a bit now, Who is Tubbo? Why is this night so important? Why am I telling you this story? Well to answer those questions let's start from the beginning of the story. Not the origins of this particular night, nor the origins of me. We will be venturing into the backstory of the infamous Tubbo Schlatt. His memories, his past, everything that led up to this moment in time.
Tubbo was born on December 23. To two parents, one forever unknown and one that would never leave Tubbo’s memories. Jason Schlatt was pronounced an only father by the time Tubbo took his first breath. His mother never wanted a child. Tubbo didn’t know much about his mother, apparently he knew as much as his father did too. The woman was a one night stand that got pregnant and while his father always wanted kids his mother did not.
Despite how most stories go, Schlatt was a good father. He loved Tubbo, he took care of him and gave him anything he could afford for the child. While Schlatt loved his kid, his normal job didn’t quite put food on the table as much as he would like it to, so he had to turn to more drastic measures to get food. When Tubbo was one Schlatt was robbing convenience stores for formula. When Tubbo was two he was stealing more solid food and more baby equipment. By the time Tubbo was in middle school his father ran the most powerful underground crime ring. Of course he told Tubbo when Tubbo was old enough to understand. Tubbo didn’t mind at all, that's what put food on his plate and let him live; it wasn't like they were killing people.
So that's how life was for Tubbo until he was 15. Usually it wouldn’t be a big deal for most kids, but Tubbo wasn’t most kids. This world, like some out there, is one filled with superpowers. Some people get them and some don’t. Schlatt has a power that cancels out others powers, Schlatts twin,Puffy, could power up peoples powers, Tubbo’s cousin, Dream, could copy someone's looks, and Tubbo they didn’t know. In this world you got powers at around 12, but Tubbo didn’t get any. At least not until he was 15.

On his birthday he woke up and got ready for the day. He planned on going to the library with his cousin Dream. He ran down the stairs in his small house to where his father and aunt sat talking about stuff. Tubbo walked up to his father and hugged him before he walked to make himself some toast. Waiting for Dream to wake up and take him to the library.
“Dad, do you know when the Dream will be up?” Tubbo asked as he spread a random jam onto his toast. He was excited to go to the library and hang out with his best friends Tommy and Ranboo. They decided on it because not many people went there nowadays.
It was a few more minutes until Dream came down, not changed out of his pajamas yawning and he all but collapsed on the table. A faint ugh sound came from where his face was on top of the wood. “No foreheads on the table, Dream.” Puffy said as she stirred her coffee. Dream lifted his head and blew a raspberry at her. Puffy faked a gasp as she flicked some coffee at her son. Of course he got offended, turned into his mom and talked in a snobby voice. “Look at me, I'm the great Captain Puffy the most famous vigilante and I can flick coffee on my son.” Puffy laughed as she heard Dream’s awful accent. Tubbo laughed as well before looking Dream in the eye and Dream suddenly turning back into himself. That would be weird since Dream normally had trouble remembering how his face looked and had Schlatt help him. What was weirder was Dream looked confused as well. “I didn’t change back.” He suddenly says before standing up and panicking. You see Dream has these things where his self worth is based on his power, it's called mental illness.
They all stood up confused as Dream panicked. “Dad what happened?” Tubbo asked as he looked up at his father before a shot of pain went through his head as he made eye contact with his dad. He was told this was how it felt when his father erased someone's powers, but Tubbo didn’t have powers. Or so they thought. With the pain over, Dream transformed into Puffy again. It was like his powers stopped for a moment and came back without a trace of leaving. It left them all puzzled and trying to figure out what happened.
It took hours and Tubbo had to cancel his plans with his friends to figure it out, but once they did it was amazing news. Tubbo finally had super powers. Apparently he could copy the powers of someone he touched and that's all he knew at the moment. Though he didn’t mind as he was just excited at the news that he finally had powers now. They were so happy for him that they threw a tiny party with what they had in the kitchen. It was a nice night.
That night he went to bed while his father went to get him protective gloves that would make sure he couldn’t accidentally use his powers. His father had a pair of glasses that does that so he doesn’t accidentally erase someone's powers. Although he only wears them outside the house. Everyone got used to just not looking him directly in the eyes and he was fine with that.

That night changed Tubbo’s life, not like the original night that I mentioned before. We are getting there so be patient, dear readers. We will go in depth with the story more later in the chapters. This as you probably can tell is a teaser chapter as I had to get the juices flowing and this was the best idea, the story will get more in detail about all the events as they transpire in the story and not the mess which I just provided you with.
