Summary
In the midst of political turmoil, Maeve Shepard makes a decision that will broker peace: Marry a man from the country of Citadel. It is a power play to choose the suitor no one expects, but that's only the beginning of her political moves. When the assassination attempts begin, Maeve and her new husband Jeff "Joker" Moreau must learn to trust each other if they hope to survive and avoid the start of another war.
“They’re asking for a marriage to bind the ties between our countries,” Kaidan stated, setting the paper down. “Whomever we send will live in Citadel with their new spouse. They’d be a hostage for all intents and purposes.”
