Texting

Summary:

Draco has made a mistake. A Huge Mistake.

Clearly the only option is to disappear. And he would, if Harry would just stop texting him for five seconds.

Work Text:

Draco's mobile started buzzing about two seconds after he got home. The magic required for apparation must have delayed it because it only rang one more time before going to voicemail.

He looked around his flat, feeling a bit manic and unsure what exactly he could do to fix the colossal mess he'd just made. His phone buzzed and he looked down at the screen.

Harry: answer your phone

Draco would rather die a horrible, torturous death than answer the phone that started buzzing in his hand again. He hit the end call button faster than he ever had in his life only for the phone to immediately start ringing again.

After another three rounds of this, while Draco quickly altered his wards and closed the floo, he got another text.

Harry: Draco. STOP SENDING ME TO VOICEMAIL

Harry: ANSWER YOUR BLOODY PHONE

He tried calling again and Draco declined, deciding his bedroom was where he should start his packing. Obviously a mistake of this magnitude required that he leave town and never see anyone he knew ever again.

Draco set his phone down on the nightstand as he started pulling out suitcases from his closet. He could hear it vibrating against the wood, alternating between calls and text messages. When he had all six of his suitcases laid out, his curiosity got the better of him. He flicked his wand at the clothes on the hangers in the closet so they'd come off as he checked his phone to find 8 missed calls and a slew of texts, the last few coming in as he read the others.

Harry: Draco, this is ridiculous.

Harry: Just answer your phone.

(missed call)

Harry: It's just me, you idiot! Let me talk to you.

(missed call)

Harry: Do not make me have this conversation via text.

Harry: Please.

(missed call)

Harry: Did you change your wards to keep me out?

(missed call)

(missed call)

Harry: You blocked your floo?

Harry: Seriously, Draco! Talk to me!

(missed call)

Harry: Okay, you're starting to scare me.

Harry: Draco, please answer me.

(missed call)

Harry: Just tell me you're okay.

(missed call)

Harry: Draco.

Harry: Answer the door.

Just as he finished reading it, there was a pounding at the door. "Draco!" Harry shouted. "Open this door and tell me you are okay or I will not be held responsible for my actions."

Before Draco could even find words to speak, the other man shouted, "Bombarda!" and Draco heard his front door blow in off its hinges. "Draco!" he shouted and it was only a moment before he was running into Draco's room, chest heaving like he'd run a marathon, as he took in the mess of Draco's clothes and suitcases. "Were you going to leave?" Harry asked, looking shocked. And hurt of all things.

"I-" Draco began before Harry was striding across the room, throwing his wand on the bed as he went so that both hands were free when he cupped Draco's face in his hands and kissed him.

Draco froze completely, unable to comprehend what exactly had just happened.

Then Harry pulled back, "I love you, too, you absolute wanker."

"You do?" Draco spluttered.

Harry nodded, "You just ran before I could say it back." His fingers slipped around Draco's head, scratching lightly through the short hair at the base of his skull. "Stop running away from me."

"Okay," he breathed.

"I'm going to kiss you again," Harry said softly.

"Okay," he breathed a second time, letting himself sink into the kiss this time and enjoy the feeling of complete joy washing through his nervous system and soothing his frayed nerves.

When Harry pulled back, they were both breathing heavily, and Draco was sure that he was blushing from the tips of his toes to the tips of his ears, his entire body warm and heavy.

"So," Harry said, "Do you want some help putting all of this back?"

Draco shook his head, "It can wait," he said, tugging Harry back toward the bed. "There's something I'd much rather be doing instead."
