Work Text:
“Alright, what’s the play?”
Elliot walks over to where his sergeant stands by the whiteboard, handing Olivia her coffee as he takes his place beside her.
“So this case might get a little tricky but, luckily for us, there was some disgraced FBI agent that infiltrated this group once. They’re transporting the agent as we speak,” Ayanna says.
“Okay, disgraced. Disgraced how?” Elliot asks. Ayanna nods, understanding his concern.
“They assured me it was nothing related to this case or the majority of her work. Messing with us would get her nowhere, so we have reason to believe she’ll cooperate without issue.”
“Don’t worry, hun. I will,” came an awfully familiar voice, thick southern accent and all, from behind them.
Elliot yelps. Yelps , causing both Liv and Ayanna to do a double-take. Liv clasps a hand over her mouth, out of both shock and amusement as she sees their source for this case. Because of course, she thinks.
“No!” Elliot announces. He’s shaking his head as he subconsciously steps behind Olivia. “No, no, no… no, no, no, no, no, no…”
“Aw, c’mon, Elliot…” Dana Lewis grins. “I apologized.”
He continues shaking his head. “No, no, no… Not doin’ this again. No! I will chain myself to this des–” He turns to Liv and Ayanna. “You can’t force me to work with her. Please, I– I’m old, I got kids, I’m not goin’ four-for-four.”
Dana rolls her eyes. “Oh, relax, Nancy. Nothing’s gonna happen to ya.”
“That’s what I thought before we were three-for-three, Dana!” He exclaims, hands gesturing emphatically with each word. “First time: I got shot.” He makes a show of counting with his fingers. “Second time: I got blown up!”
“You were the one who picked up a stick a’ dynamite,” she mumbles.
“Third time! You…” he draws out, pausing for dramatic effect. “... Shot me!” he exclaims, voice an octave higher than normal.
“It was an accident!”
He raises his hands. “That doesn’t make me feel better!”
“Ya know, I still think you’re really only sore ‘cause I stole your precious partner that one time.” Liv bites her bottom lip to keep from laughing while he glares.
“Yo–”
“I’m sorry, what– what’s all this?” Ayanna asks, confused.
“She’s my jinx! Ayanna, please.” She raises her eyebrows, amused. He’s practically begging. “I’m not goin’ anywhere with her! If I walk out this building with her, I’ll get hit by a car!” Dana snickers.
“He’s bein’ dramatic.” She waves a hand and he turns.
“I’m really not!”
Bell interjects. “Okay… We do need her help. So you’re just gonna have to pull through here, Pal.” Liv sets a sympathetic hand on his shoulder.
“I’ll be on my best behavior,” Dana says through a laugh. “I promise.”
He drops his head, groaning. “I can
feel
the next bullet hole coming…”
