Work Text:
It took Noah far too long to realize, a lifetime for him to realize that his brother was beyond saving.
When Noah was younger he could have forgiven him, was ready even.
To forgive him for the torment he put him through. All he was waiting for was an apology, but it never came and soon that hope began to diminish.
The last of it dissapeared with the reveal that Neo wasn't his son.
He was so angry, not at Neo but at Ian and Parish. But well, his anger certainly didn't help when it came to his relationship with Neo.
The worst mistake of his life was treating Neo that way. The second was believing his brother would ever be anything but selfish.
The first time he saw how far his brother would go for his own selfishness was in his first life, on the helikopter, he had sacrificed his own daughter to live another day.
He should have known that there was nothing Ian wouldn't do to live.
Noah should have known he would not care for him or Neo, it wasn't like he ever liked them anyways. Ian had no qualms of using them if it would benifit himself.
His mistakes cost his own life and everyone he held close.
Yet despite all his wrongdoings, god had granted him a second chance and Noah was not going to waste it.
He had already changed some things, Iva hadn't been pushed off and Neo was by his side now.
He was never going to let Neo get hurt the way he was in Noahs first life, he would protect him. It didnt matter if he would forever hate him, it didn't matter if he couldn't repair their relationship. Noah did not ever want to see Neo like that again, he would do anything to never see him being hurt like that again.
And if it meant killing his own brother so be it. His brother had already proven that he would remain Rotten to the core no matter what life.

Looking down at Ians falling body all Noah could think of is that he should have done this ages ago, he should have killed him in his first life. Should have pushed him off instead of Iva, before Ian had the chance to hurt Neo or anyone else.
Noah could feel the shocked gazes on him, maybe they were horrfied at the fact that he pushed his brother into the arms of the undead.
But they didn't know about Ian, of all he had done.
Because this was the bare minimum he should have to go through.
When Ian's screaming had finally died down Noah closed his eyes. He had gotten rid of one of the dangers of the future, his brother was gone and would not rise again.
He would save everyone this time, he would not let them die.
Never again.
