Summary
While Makoto and Haru were busy being gay, the others were studying the blade (becoming Phantom Thieves)
This is pretty much a Lion King 1 ½ style, Beast Complex thingy (hence the title) to the main plot of The Hearts of Beasts, as it covers what the other Phantom Thieves were up to behind the scenes. It also acts as bridge between HoB and it’s coming sequel, as it includes character stuff I felt I wouldn’t be able to naturally establish without an awkward exposition dump, and stuff from their side of the story I wanted established for the sequel. I highly recommend reading The Hearts of Beasts first if you haven’t yet, as then this will probably make more sense (especially if you don’t know much about Beastars)! Plus, there’s a big revelation in HoB that is spoiled at the end of this, so definitely don’t read this first if you care about spoilers!
