struck by lightning

Summary:

“I love you.”

“Félix, I just struck you with lightning!”

Work Text:

Félix was happily walking the now familiar path between the rest of the village and the Madrigal household just at the edge of it. The house stood tall and mighty like always, grand and magical, he could even describe it as a little intimidating since he had only been up close to it a few times, and inside fever times than he could count on two hands. He had only been courting Pepa for two months, and the first time he had truly been there on a visit had been when Pepa had finally introduced him to her mother about a month ago, which had been a truly terrifying experience.

He took a deep breath as he got closer to the house while he ran his fingers through his hair, making sure nothing was out of place. In his other hand he was holding a newly made flower crown that he had spent almost an hour on, and his intent was to place it on Pepa’s head the moment he saw her. She would look absolutely gorgeous with some flowers in her hair.

It would be a gift, a small handcrafted item to show her how much he appreciated her. The two months they had been together had been the two best months in his life, and Pepa had given him a new reason to wake up each day, a feeling he hasn’t felt since before he moved to the Encanto. He was happy and in love, as if he was part of a fairytale. He hoped for many more months and years to come, and for their relationship to flourish and grow with each passing day, just like the crops that were watered by Pepa’s magical rain.

She had managed to touch his soul, showing him a new kind of happiness and joy he wasn’t aware even existed. It was so powerful, like a heavenly light that blinded him, and now he couldn’t imagine his life without her by his side. A life without Pepa wasn’t a life at all.

She was his wonderful weather goddess, his whole world as one person.

When he arrived at the Casita, he took a deep breath and prepared himself before knocking. The door was flown open not even five seconds later, almost hitting him on the face. Thankfully he managed to jump backwards at the very last second.

Félix was met by sunshine and Pepa’s bright smile. She was as beautiful as ever with her emerald eyes, her freckled skin and her magical red curls in her braid. She truly was the most fantastic woman to have ever walked the Earth, and he felt how his heart began to melt by just looking at her. He truly was the luckiest man on Earth, for someone as amazing and mystical as Pepa to have taken an interest in a simple, ordinary man like him.

“Morning Pepa, looking as beautiful as always,” he began as he took a step forward and carefully reached for her hand in order to plant a soft kiss onto it. Afterwards, he looked up with a smile on his face, and was met with the sight of his girlfriend grinning from ear to ear with a flushed face. “How are you doing today?”

“Now when you’re here, I feel fantastic,” she replies as she leans down and presses a kiss to Félix's forehead. Her lips are soft, and he immediately wishes for her to do it again, for her to be close to him. He wanted to return the favor and make sure she understood just how special she was, how amazing she made him feel.

So, he held up the flower crown in the air and watched as Pepa’s eyes focused on it.

“I made this for you, mi vida. Flowers in your hair don't bother you right? Like how you can’t wear some type of fabrics because of the texture.”

Pepa jumps up and down and flaps her hands with a happy squeal as she hears him speak, and Félix sees a rainbow taking form above them as Pepa shows her joy to the world. She was absolutely adorable and magnificent, there was nothing more Félix loved more than seeing her happy like this.

“Félix, this is so sweet, I love it! You made it all by yourself?”

“Yes, every minute was worth it. I was thinking of how pretty you would look in it the entire time.”

“Can you put it on for me?”

He gives her a quick nod as Pepa leans her head forward. Félix gently places the flower crown on her head and lets out a sigh of relief when he sees that it fits perfectly, not too tight and not too big. He hadn’t had any actual measurements of Pepa’s head when he had made it and had gone by the feeling in his gut. He was extremely relieved over the fact that he had been right, so that the flower crown wouldn’t go to waste. He’s sure that would have disappointed Pepa.

He makes a last adjustment, and then his girlfriend takes a step backwards, grabbing her dress by the seams and spins around a few turns, making it flow with the wind she creates. The rainbow above their head becomes brighter, and Félix could feel his heart beating faster and faster by the second as he’s enjoying the view of his girlfriend being happy. Félix swore it was at that moment he found the true meaning of life, as he saw Pepa twirl around in the sunlight. Pepa looks gorgeous with the flower crown on her head, the colors truly complimenting her eyes and her hair.

“How does it look?”

“Like I’m seeing an angel right in front of me.”

Pepa stops right in her tracks, standing frozen as her face turns a deep shade of red. He had startled her.

The following second, Félix feels an extreme pain hit his body, sparks radiating everywhere, starting by his core to quickly spread out to his hair and fingertips. Every muscle in his body tenses as the electricity moves around, and there’s a blinding white light that makes his eye tear up for half a second. His whole body feels like it’s on fire, but then it’s over as quickly as it started, the electricity leaving his body in an instant. Suddenly, the tension is gone, replaced by a weird ache and a sense of relaxation at the same time? A second later, the sound of thunder is heard from above the clouds. He takes a deep breath and scents the smell of burnt hair.

It was clear what had happened, Pepa had struck him with lightning.

His girlfriend stared at him in shock, and he saw how her pupils became small. She was beginning to shake, and in an instant her fingers were running through her braid as she tried to calm herself down, the stress quickly growing. A gray cloud appeared overhead. Félix couldn’t think of any of that though, because all he could think about was Pepa and how utterly beautiful she was. A wonderful force of nature that no one could ever control or tame. He didn’t know if it was the aftermath of the lightning strike, but Pepa looked even more attractive than usual, so powerful and pristine with her powers. A true goddess, and he knew he could never get enough. She was terrifying in the most enticing way possible, and all he wanted to do was to walk up towards her and give her a deep kiss.

“Félix, are you okay?”

He let out a dreamy sigh as he kept looking at her, almost getting lost in the moment. He felt more alive than he had ever been in his entire life, as if Pepa had just zapped him into another plane of existence, one of pure bliss and joy. A part of him wanted to be struck once more, to feel that extreme overpowering emotion. After all, he had made her flustered enough to strike him on accident, and a sense of pride grew inside the man since that meant his flirting was working.

What a woman. Such a fantastic, extremely attractive woman.

“I love you.”

“Félix, I just struck you with lightning!

“And I’ve never been more attracted to someone in my entire life. I’m literally about to go insane right now.”

Seriously?”

“Seriously,” he answers as he reaches his arms out for her. He does his best not to blink, because the thought of his sight letting go of her for even half a second felt blasphemous, as if he was missing something important. Which was true, Pepa was important, and she was his whole world. Every second he spent with her was sacred, a precious moment he would savor forever. “Can I kiss you?”

“You want to kiss me, after this?”

“More than anything in the world, mi vida.”

Pepa embraces him, and Félix immediately feels like he’s at the gate of heaven when Pepa’s lips press against his own. It’s as if his body is once more struck by lightning, all of his emotions going haywire as he enjoys every second of the kiss, feeling truly alive with each passing second.

When they part, he simply stares at her, with a loss of words. The silence that follows is the most tense silence Félix has ever experienced, the warmth inside of him growing by the second. He loves her so much and he knows there will never be a word powerful enough to describe how she makes him feel. It’s chemical, like a natural wildfire, and he’s in the middle of it.

Finally, he manages to speak, and he does his best to pour his heart out with just a few words.

“I’d let you strike me every day for the rest of our lives if it meant I got to be close to you.”

“Félix?”

“I love you, more than you would ever know,” he says, and then laughs. “You could say… we have a spark.”

Pepa’s wonderful laugh fills the air after his comment, and she playfully hits his shoulder before kissing his cheek.

“You silly man. Come, let’s get you an arepa to heal you up, Julieta is still in the kitchen. You’re going to feel the pain once the adrenaline stops working, trust me. You want to be healed before that.”

With that, Pepa drags Félix into the house to be healed. All he can think about is her, and how much he wants to spend the rest of his life with the woman of his dreams.
