Chapter Text
It had been two weeks since Chloe Decker had moved back to Los Angeles with her daughter, Trixie. They were both settling in nicely, even though Trixie missed her previous home. “I miss Florida,” Trixie said.
“I know, monkey. But you know why we moved here. Me and your dad… it didn’t work out and now we’re here in LA.” Trixie nodded, sadly. “It’s O.K. I grew up here with my parents, who are still here. So I know the area. And don’t worry, you’ll make new friends.” Trixie nodded again.
“I hope so.” Chloe nodded.
“Now, off you go to school. I have to go to my job interview.”
“Where is it, mommy?”
“I’m hoping to get a job as a bartender at a local nightclub.”
“That sounds awesome!”
“I hope so. I’m meeting the owner today. I hope he likes me.”
“I’m sure he will. Good luck,” Trixie said as she was heading outside to wait for the school bus.
Shortly afterwards Chloe headed to Lux for the interview. When she walked over to the bar. “Hi, i’m Chloe Decker. I’m here for a job interview.”
“So you must be the possible new recruit. I’m Mazikeen.”
“Mazikeen? Interesting name…” Maze tilted her head slightly.
“Thank you. I’ll tell the boss that you’re here.” A few minutes later, Lucifer entered the room.
“Chloe Decker?” Lucifer asked. Chloe stood up.
“That’s me.”
“Welcome. This way please,” Lucifer said, as he held his hand up in the direction they were walking.
They arrived in his office, which is also the penthouse, and sat down at his desk. “Please. Take a seat.” Chloe sat down.
“So Ms. Decker, why did you come back to LA?”
“Well I… wait. Come BACK? How do you know that?”
“I’ve met your mother. She’s come in here a few times, she talks about you. She said she misses you.” Chloe looked sad.
“Really?”
“Yes. You should go and see her some time. Try and reconcile.” Chloe nodded.
“I’ve wanted to make amends with my mum ever since I left. I just never had the courage to do so.” Lucifer nodded.
“I get that. I don’t get on with my father. And I haven’t seen him in… forever. So again, why did you come back?”
“I wanted a fresh start. I’m recently divorced.”
“Oh. I’m sorry to hear that.”
“Don’t be. It was good at first, but then it went sour. He started to show his true colours. Basically, he was a dick.”
“Well, his loss then,” Lucifer said, whilst smiling slightly.
“Because… if you don’t mind me saying, you are very beautiful.” Chloe smiled.
“Thank you.” Lucifer nodded.
“Anyway, I moved back here with my daughter to… start again.” Lucifer nodded again.
“That’s good for you, many people consider this is a place of second chances. Many people come into Lux to escape their problems or just to have a break from their lives.” Chloe understood and nodded. “So I think you’ll be a real asset to the team. Staff members who understand those who come in here to party adjust to the working environment better due to the similarities. So i’m going to say… welcome aboard.”
“Really? Thank you so much. I won’t let you down.” Lucifer bowed his head.
“That’s what I like to hear. You’ll start tomorrow. Tonight will be a welcome party for you. Is that O.K.?” Chloe nodded.
“Absolutely. Thank you Mr. Morningstar.” Lucifer looked at Chloe with his eyebrows raised.
“Lucifer, please. I prefer it when people use my name.”
“Oh. Sorry.”
“It’s O.K. Don’t worry about it.”
That night, Lucifer welcomed Chloe into the team by throwing a welcome party. “I am now honoured to welcome Chloe Decker to our team. Cheers!” Lucifer proclaimed, as everyone banged their glasses together. Lucifer & Chloe sat down at the bar, Maze went behind the bar and the others went to different parts of the room. “So what exactly happened between you and your ex?”
“Dan was great at first. I thought he was ‘the one.’ But then he showed his true colours. He… didn’t treat me very nicely and he was a terrible dad. That’s why I was given custody after our divorce.”
“So where is he now?”
“I don’t know. Last I saw, he was staying in the house we bought in Florida together. I don’t know if he’s still there though.”
“Well, like I said earlier: His loss,” Lucifer said as he took a sip of his whisky. Chloe smiled.
“So what about you?” Lucifer looked up slightly.
“My father cast me out of my home after I disagreed with him about something.”
“Really?” Lucifer nodded.
“Yes. He cast me into Hell and I was left to torture everyone down there.” Chloe looked somewhat confused.
“Oh, I get it. You’re being metaphorical, aren’t you? Your name being Lucifer, you pretend that you’re the devil, you’re using analogies.” Lucifer looked at Chloe.
“If you want to go with that…” They drank some more and partied with everyone else.
The next morning, Chloe woke up and saw Italian marble walls in front of her. In between them were some stairs leading down to a piano and a sofa. She looked to her right and saw Lucifer lying next to her. Lucifer then woke up and saw Chloe lying next to him. They both looked at each other with a look of shock. “Um…” Lucifer tried to speak. “What’s going on?” They both continued to look confused.
“Are you wearing anything?” Chloe asked. Lucifer looked.
“No. Are you?” Chloe looked.
“No. What happened last night?” Chloe asked.
“I don’t remember.”
“Me neither.” The elevator doors then opened.
“Oh. I see you’re both awake now…” Maze said.
“What happened last night?” Lucifer asked.
“You mean neither of you remember?” Lucifer & Chloe both shook their heads. “You two had a lot of fun last night, that’s for sure… I heard Chloe shouting from downstairs.”
“And the rest?” Chloe asked.
“Fine, i’ll tell you.”
