Heart's Tune

Summary:

The tips of his fingers left a trail of scorching heat in their wake that burned her skin and sent a shiver down the length of her spine and when they came to tip her chin up, ruby eyes lost themselves in pools of molten gold.

"You call me unpredictable." He echoed, words brushing hotly against her lips. "Yet it is you whose presence makes my heart act on its own accord."

The mere sight of her was enough to instantly capture his attention, the sound of her sweet laughter one that the winds would carry for days to come and even the smallest brush of her hand against his was enough to evoke a fire so hot it threatened burn him from the inside.

She was an enigma, and just like even the most beautiful words would fail to do her justice,he found himself unable to describe the feelings she evoked in him.

-
In which he gifts her his heart, and receives her very own in return.

Work Text:

Love was a word familiar to Kazuha.

It was one mentioned in the world's most famous poems,a feeling words rarely did justice and yet,it was a word holding a thousand feelings, feelings that could break ones soul yet soothe its deepest pain.

It was rare and yet, on days like this, it was all around them and he couldn't help but be fascinated by the soft-spoken promises that carried through the wind, the confessions laced with a word that held a thousand emotions making him wonder if he too would one day experience it.

The soft breeze brushed gently against his skin, carrying the familiar note of sweet raspberries that instantly clouded his senses and when he heard the wooden floor beneath him creak ever so softly, his lips lifted into a smile.

"You found me."

Although his eyes remained fixed on the vast ocean that reflected the bright rays of the sun ahead, he could picture the upwards tilt of her rosy lips as she moved to stand next to him, petite hands resting on the wooden railing of the crows nest as a soft hum passed her lips.

"I received your gift." Lumine told him, golden eyes flickering to the male beside her as her expression softened. "It was beautiful."

The poem he had written for her was one that came to him like the secrets the winds carried, soft, yet mysterious in a way that captured his attention and demanded it fully.

It was only then that crimson eyes flickered to catch her golden ones, the young samurai admiring the way the breeze caressed her starlight tresses and her eyes sparkled with a light that put the sun to shame.

She was beautiful-and no words nor poems would do her beauty justice.

Kazuha's lips lifted into a small smile as he tipped his head aside.

"I didn't think you would seek me out." He admitted, crimson eyes drinking in the way her eyes sparkled in amusement.

"You gave me a gift." Lumine reminded him, the sweet chime of her voice sounding sweeter than any blessing as her smile softened. "It's only right for me to return the favor."

Kazuha arched a brow, crimson eyes shining with badly concealed curiosity as he placed his hand against the wooden railing and shifted closer, her sweet scent intoxicating and smile addicting.

"I didn't expect to receive a gift in return." He admitted and it was the truth. He had wished to express his feelings without having expecting anything in return, the thought of her smile once she would read it enough to put his heart at ease and yet, Lumine once again managed to surprise him.

She truly was fascinating, and he found himself mesmerized by the being that was her.

"So you would reject a simple request such as to lend your lonesome self company on a day like this?" Lumine mused, eyes glinting with mischief and Kazuha nearly lost himself in them.

The samurai hummed at her request, eyes flashing. "I'm sure I would only bore you with my words."

She shifted closer then, the soft breeze teasing her golden locks as she the smile on her lips turned smug, golden eyes sparkling as they held his dark crimson ones.

"You could never bore me." She told him and it was the truth- every word passing from his lips never ceased to amaze her, his soothing voice sending a shiver dance over her skin whenever it would carry to her ears. "They are unpredictable- just like you."

Kazuha's gaze sharpened at that, her confession sparking a flicker of heat in his chest and before he could stop himself, his hand had already reaches out to gently brush a strand of her hair behind her ear.

They consumed him, wanted him to be selfish and keep her only to himself and he knew that if he would follow his heart's demands, he would get to spend his life with a love that would consume him, devour him and not only for a day,but for all the ones that would follow.

A part of him had hoped that she would come, that she would share his feelings, his desires and yet, he wanted to give her a choice for they did say that once you set your love free and it returns, it's yours to keep.

And when he felt her soft hands reach out to rest against his chest and her fingers hooked around the front of his shirt, he knew that she wouldn't leave.

"What about now?" Lumine hummed, golden eyes remaining locked with his as her lips hovered over his with a small, devious smile, hand burning hot over the left side of his chest that hid away the heart he knew beat only for her. "What does it tell you to do now?"

It was screaming at him, begging him to let it out of its confines and Kazuha knew he couldn't deny it any longer.

The white-haired male chuckled softly then, the darkening of his eyes betraying the gentle sound and when his nose brushed against hers, his lips lifted into a small smile.

"It tells me to keep you." He mumbled, grip on her tight as he savored the feeling of her soft body pressed against his, his hot gaze remaining locked with hers. "For today and always."

And within the split of a second, his lips crashed against hers.

The moment he kissed her he felt her melt in his arms, the feeling of her heart beating in tune to his making him dig his finger into the soft flesh of her waist as he pulled her closer, lips moving softly against hers.

And on the day made to honor ones love, he had finally gotten a taste of his very own, one so deep it dared consume him whole.
