Work Text:
Ian woke up to the sound of his alarm. 7:30. He heard his sleepy husband mumble something in an annoyed tone.
"Hmm?"
"I said its fucking Saturday, turn it off!" Mickey said cuddling in closer to his warm husband, trying to fall back asleep.
"Nope," Ian said getting up quickly as to not be drawn back in with the temptation of snuggles.
"It's time to get up. Got shit to do."
"Mmm come back here." He said in a whining way making grabby hands.
"Get up Mick." He lifts the banket off him gently then smaks his ass HARD.
"OK, ok Jesus! I'm up."
Mickey still not really awake stumbles into the kitchen after taking a morning piss. Ian, of course eager to start the day, was already starting a pot of coffee. As he was reaching up to get two mugs out of the cupboard he felt arms wrapped tightly around his waist and a head resting on his shoulder. Mickey was really only being this affectionate because he was tired and not ready to be awake yet but, Ian still enjoyed it. He leaned back into the touch. A bit surprised by his lovers aggressive morning wood. Mickey himself had just noticed his hard on and woke up a lot more then he had been. He more noticeablly started poking him with it.
"We have to get ready, love. We don't have time."
They both new this was complete bull shit. That Ian had set the alarm mega early so they would have extra time in the morning. Mickey loved it so much when Ian called him love. It was really the only pet name he liked. Even so he would admit it.
"Mmm we can be quick." They would most definitely not be quick. "I need to shower anyway." he added, nodding the bathroom. "Yeah you do." Ian said making a gross face.
Mickey offered a lazy "Fuck you."
"Not yet we gotta get to the shower first." The read head sat down the fresh cups of coffee. Kissed his husband and started leading him down the hallway.
"Fuck you for making me go to this stupid shit." Mickey said as they were drying up and putting on their clothes.
"Shut up you'll like it." He said pulling his shirt over his head.
"How do you know? I've never done it before."
"We're doing it together, and how do you know you won't like it?"
"Sounds stupid." He offered as if it would make him change his mind. "I'm no good at this arts and crafts shit."
"Bull." Ian says almost offended sounding. "Your so good at drawing! You have an artistic soul, baby. I know you'll do so good." Mickeys face heated and he grumbled while tugging his pants on and left the room.
"Fuck man, the coffees cold."
"We'll just have to go with out. We don't have ti-
"Are you kidding." Mickey says taking a big gulp of his cold coffee. After a bit of mickey drinking his coffee,
"Alright love we gotta go were gonna be late." He took the worlds best husband mug out of Mickeys hands and hurried him out the door.
They are on the way, sitting hand in hand on the bus.
"Whatr you going to make?" Ian asked looking curiously at his husband. "I don't know, like and ash tray of some gay shit." Mickey sneakly smirked. He wouldn't let Ian know but he kind of convinced him that it was going to be fun. There was a silence but mickey new what Ian was waiting for.
"What are you makin'?" There was a visible light in Ians eye's when the question was asked. Mickey thought it was so adorable when his love got so motivated and inspired to do these random things. When Ian was growing his tomatoes he would come in every day and have mickey taste them. Mickey didn't really care for tomatoes that much, but it made Ian really happy so of course he said they were super good. Of course they were good Ian can do everything right. He smiled at the thought.
"I think I'm gonna make a pot or something else useful we can use around the house!" Mickey could tell how excited Ian was so mickey might as well play along.
"Niceee, I can wait to see it." He said squeezing his husband's hand.
At the shop there was the option to use the wheels or you could do with out and just from it on a table. Ian decided he was going to make a ladle holder for by their stove. Mickey though this was a stupid idea because they never really cooked especially soup. However Ian said this would motivate them to make so much soup. Mickey new they would probably never make soup but he was going to be supportive anyway.
Mickey was at the wheel, just starting as he felt long arms wrapped around him holding his hands as he worked.
"Ian, what are you doing." He asked, still locked in on forming the clay on the wheel.
"We are supposed to be doing this together."
"I can really do this right with you wrapped around me like a monkey." Ian ignored him and stayed where he was.
"How are gonna get your soup thing done if your hands are all up around me?"
"I'll get it done don't worry."
Mickey was still sitting at the wheel while Ian sat at the table across from him. Mickey was getting annoyed with Ian because he kept kicking him under the table.
"Gallagher! I'm trying to focus." He wisper shouts.
"Can you help me, mickeyyyy??" He said in almost a child like voice.
"What."
"Yours is so even and smooth and mine is lumpy." He said disappointed.
"Maybe the clay i got is bad I should ask for more, huh?"
"There's nothing wrong with the clay, here let me see it." He stood over Ian and leaned against him. He showed him how to smooth it out using water on his hands. Ian acted like he understood and kept nodding. Mickey got up kissed him on the head and went back to his pot.
By the end of the shop Ian was pretty board and disencouraged. His ladle holder hadn't turned out as good as he hoped but they said a lot of things can change in the kiln so he hadn't lost hope yet. Mickey on the other hand refused to let Ian see his until it is completely done when they would come back tomorrow and glaze them.
The next morning they glazed them and put them back in the kiln. They went back home had lunch, went a couple rounds, then they were on their way back to the studio.
"Will you at least tell me what color it is?" Mickey shook his head.
"You'll see it when we get there."
They go and get their projects. Ian rather disappointed at how his turned out. Its scratchy and sharp along the edges and had a crack going straight down the middle because he had mad it to thin. He didn't really care about his anymore now he wanted to see Mickeys and what it was. He turns to look at his husband.
"Of course." Of course he made a bong Ian should have seen this a mile away. He soon got distracted by his husbands predictability with his amazing craftsmanship. "Holy shit Mick, how'd you do it so good!" Ian praised. "It's so smooth and symmetrical and perfect."
"Thanks,"mickey said not willing to except that he is really mega good at pottery.
"Let's go home and try it out, huh?"
"Hell yes."
