Work Text:
The days seemed to be getting more and more physically taxing lately for Mobius.
He was not at all sure what happened to him. Maybe he was just getting old or maybe his fatigue was taking away his motivation. In any case, today he was in a bad mood and he was spiraling. He couldn't concentrate on the important things and the slightest disturbance irritated him deeply.
Of course everyone at the TVA was on edge and the work was piling up while all he wanted to do was go home. For a week now he had only caught a glimpse of Loki, when Mobius came home at night he was already asleep and when he got up in the morning Loki was already gone. He was afraid that in the long run this kind of rhythm would affect their relationship.
But he was a little afraid to discuss his insecurities with Loki, he feared that Loki would find him weak and leave him, or that he would decide to leave for Asgard, now that he was reconciled with his family.
These thoughts went round and round in Mobius' head.
Objectively, he knew he was overreacting. But where Loki was concerned, Mobius lost all confidence in himself. And the old demons came back to haunt him, am I good enough for him? Am I not holding him back? He could have better than me.
Lost in his thoughts, he arrived in the almost deserted cafeteria without realizing it and the first thing he saw was the object of his thoughts. Loki.
Loki who gave him a bright smile as soon as he noticed him and from this moment on, nothing else mattered. Then without knowing how, two arms were wrapped around his neck and he was caught in a strong embrace.
He vaguely heard some laughter, but decided to ignore it, and wrapped his own arms around his lover, as gradually the uneasiness in him was replaced by relief.
He allowed himself to be dragged by Loki to the table and after seating him, Loki kissed him gently on the cheek before whispering in his ear, "I've missed you so much."
That was all Mobius needed to hear to realize how absurdly stupid he'd been the past few days, to allow his anxiety to erase common sense and make him think that Loki would consider leaving him for doing something as human as talking about his insecurities.
Mobius decided to forget about everything else for a few moments and spent the next few minutes letting Loki kiss him and then kissing him back, ignoring the few TVA employees who were gawking at such a public display of affection from Mobius.
When he looked up at the wall clock in the cafeteria, he saw that their work day was long over and decided to send all his responsibilities to hell for one night. Because the man next to him was far more important than any messy timeline.
Kissing Loki one last time, he stood up and held out his hand, "Let's go home."
Loki grabbed his hand and with a big smile followed him.
Mobius said to everyone as he left, "Go home, the work will still be there tomorrow."
Then he sped up, pulling behind him a Loki who was just as eager to go home as he was. The way was a little longer than expected, because they couldn't make a few meters without wanting to kiss each other under the amused and astonished looks of their colleagues.
"Who would have thought that these two would be so perfect for each other?" murmured Hunter B-15 as she watched the couple leave.
"Me." replied Sylvie with a knowing smile.
