"I don't have to wear a suit, y'know."
"Well, you didn't want to wear a dress."
"I'd prefer not to wear anything, really."
"No can do," Mighty said, finishing the buttons on Sonic's vest, then moving up to his collar. "Rouge requested full outfitted attendance, and while that could just be a joke, I'm not gonna risk you showing up there looking like a clown."
Sonic scoffed, watching with resigned silence as the armadillo adjusted every part of his suit. Mighty stood back, looking over his handiwork with a scrutinizing eye, before smiling and giving a satisfied thumbs up. Sonic rolled his eyes goodnaturedly as Mighty stepped out of the way of the mirror, giving Sonic a view of himself.
Sonic grimaced, nigh instantly counteracting Mighty's brush ups as he twisted and pulled at his outfit. "Well, I hope she's ready for me to come looking like a clown, anyway, because I can not pull off suits." He muttered, absently beginning to style his quills in the mirror.
Mighty halted the hedgehog's restless hands with his own, grabbing the attention of bewildered emerald eyes and staring into them. He moved his hands to Sonic's chin, holding it up with a delicate fondness, pretending not to notice the way the other's breath hitched with the movement.
Finally, he smiled, and spoke in earnest, "You look amazing."
The hedgehog's cheeks flared a brilliant pink in Mighty's hold, stunned, before ultimately slapping his hands away. "Stop, I hate it when you do that." Sonic huffed, with no real sincerity.
"You know you love it," Mighty said, winking in that obnoxious way he did when he knew he had the hedgehog wrapped around his finger. Sonic, indeed, groaned as he followed Mighty toward the apartment door with no protest.
"When did you get so confident? Five-years-ago Mighty couldn't flirt with anyone without crumpling like paper." Sonic said, accentuating with a motion of his hands, crushing down an imaginary paper ball.
"With you?" Mighty stepped back to throw an arm around the hedgehog's shoulders. He gave him a smug once over and replied, teasingly, "It's easy."
"Ohoho, you are gonna get it!" Sonic jived, pushing the now laughing armadillo away, grinning to hide the discoloration of his face.
"Okay, okay, I'll stop." Mighty conceded through giggles, reaching for the door once more.
"You better," Sonic countered, haughtily adjusting his collar, "A guy's got a reputation to uphold, n' I can't have you romancing me around all my buddies."
"They don't think you're all that cool, anyway."
"Not true! Tails thinks I'm the coolest!"
"He's your brother, he's biased, and… That's still not even true." Mighty walked out the door.
"WHAT? Does he not think I'm cool?! Did he tell you that?! What did he say?! …Mighty? Mighty!"
