Chapter Text
Sam blinked. The television in front of her cast shadows over the area, and within moments she remembered where she was. She shifted, feeling something heavy over her shoulders. Sprawled over the couch on her right side was Colonel O’Neill. His breathing was rhythmic, and his head laid back against the cushions as he snored away. One arm was hanging over the side of the couch awkwardly, while the other was draped over her shoulders.
Something stirred within her that she couldn’t put into words. Samantha felt the need to shy away from her Commanding Officer, but she pushed her reservations away, refusing to wake him up over something as petty as the position of his arm.
Daniel was curled up next to her on the other side of the sectional. He must have chosen this spot (unlike the rest of the team), for his glasses were perched very purposefully on the nearby coffee table. He looked quite amusing now, with only a few tufts of hair and stray limbs sticking out from under one of Jack’s quilts.
'Since when do you call him Jack?' She asked herself, rubbing the sleep from her eyes. At the very end of the couch and across from Daniel was Teal’c. His head was leaned comfortably against the cushion behind him. His eyes were closed, but his breathing was deliberately calm. He was sitting cross-legged, and a satisfied grin appeared on his face. Carter knew he was likely meditating.
The main menu for one of Jack’s DVDs was playing on repeat. Sam wracked her brain for a moment trying to figure out what on earth they had fallen asleep to; then, she recognized it as Godzilla. She hadn’t remembered dozing off to it, but she wasn’t terribly surprised.
Carter risked a droggy glance at her watch. Her internal clock had woken her at half-past five. She released a weary sigh, unwilling to wake any of her friends and too tired to care about sleeping in on a Saturday. She snuggled further into the couch, pulling on the blanket that was falling at her feet. Her body went suddenly tense as the Colonel’s arm fell to her waist, pulling her closer to himself with a contented (yet unintelligible) mumble.
Sam saw no point in fighting her sleeping CO and instead leaned into him, her head laying against his chest and her body melding comfortably with his own. She gazed up at the ceiling for countless seconds, wondering if Daniel or Teal’c would wake and question her before she drifted back into a relaxed sleep.
