"It's so hot today..."
That day, sun shone so brightly even within the thick branches of the trees, giving no rest to those that came in contact with it.
The weather didn't affect Xingqiu that much, but that day left him restless. Even reading couldn't relax his mind.
The fantasy world seemed so far away under all the thick layers of sweat that formed on his skin.
"I can't stand this," Xingqiu sighed, shutting the blue-covered book he was reading. He wiped off the sweat from his forehead with his wrist, but even his arms were so sweaty that it just smeared everywhere.
"You want one?" The other person laying down next to him offered, looking up at the male through the strands of the sticky hair that got stuck to his forehead.
In one hand, he held a bright blue popsicle, and in the other a small fan with the symbol of the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor stamped on it.
"Where did you even find that?" Xingqiu giggled, moving a bunch of Chongyun's strands of hair stuck together on his forehead, making him close an eye.
"I... found it," He lied, taking a bite of his popsicle. Of course he didn't want to admit that he stole it from Hu Tao since she keeps provoking exorcists like himself. To be honest, she deserved it, he thought.
"I'm sure you did," The other replied, wiping his sweaty palm on his shorts.
Then, Chongyun sat up and turned around, facing Xingqiu.
"What's wr—"
Suddenly, the popsicle that Chongyun had been eating was pressed against Xingqiu's lips, forcing him to take a bite.
Xingqiu looked up at Chungyun in surprise, moving his head back to speak, but the other just stretched more, putting his weight on his free hand (after discarding the fan long ago) as his stomach pressed on his crossed legs.
"Eat, it'll cool you down," He pressured. Xingqiu hesitated, startled, and the ice cream started melting on his warm lips and down his chin, as well as on the wooden stick and on Chongyun's fingers.
"Ah, look at the mess you did," Chongyun monotoned, retracting the hand he was holding and licking off the melted popsicle from his fingers.
Xingqiu broke from his ice statue-like state and brushed off the ice cream with his hand, but Chongyun stopped him.
"You'll make everything sticky," He explained, then got closer to the other and slowly licked off the ice cream from Xingqiu's chin.
The sweetness of the berries and mint mixed with Xingqiu's hot sweat on Chongyun's tongue.
"W-what are you doing?!" Xingqiu's face quickly flushed red, and Chongyun barely spared him a glance after licking his lips. "Stay still." He quickly looked back ahead and lifted Xingqiu's chin with his free hand, reaching his throat.
Xingqiu twitched at the sudden touch, his face quickly becoming as hot as the weather, making his adam's apple run up and down as he tried to contain his voice.
He didn't know exactly why, but having his neck licked was a sensation he never thought he'd enjoy.
After a solid 30 seconds, Chongyun moved away and let go of Xingqiu's chin. "That should be all," He concluded.
When he looked at his friend, his first thought was that his face transformed into a Jiyuen Chili, which made him instinctively take a step back.
"W-what's wrong with you..." Xingqiu stuttered, covering his flushed face with his arm, looking to the side.
"They're expensive," Chongyun explained, as if it was the most obvious thing and definitely the most rational reaction to ice cream melting.
"Still... You shouldn't do that," Xingqiu cleared his throat, the coldness of Chongyun's tongue lingering on his skin for longer than he would have liked.
Confused, Chongyun couldn't figure out why Xingqiu was making such a big issue out of getting help to clean himself up, since being sweaty was annoying enough.
"Are you not going to eat any, then?" Chongyun asked, realizing that his popsicle was still melting in his hand.
As he licked his fingers and looked up at Xingqiu, his gaze was blocked by a blue book covering his friend's face.
"What are you doing...? Did you get a heat stroke?" Chongyun asked seriously, geniunely slightly concerned.
Xingqiu furiously shook his head as his face only became hotter at the sight. He should probably go take a cold shower. Immediately.
"Hey..." Chongyun's soft voice called, lowering the book with his clean hand.
Xingqiu quickly avoided his gaze, but Chongyun followed.
"Did I upset you?" He asked.
Xingqiu shook his head.
"What's wrong, then?"
Xingqiu remained in silence, not wanting to say out loud how erotic the scene he just saw was, and instead let go of the book and grasped Chongyun's wrist with both hands, shoving the ice cream in his mouth.
A startled gasp left Chongyun's lips, but he let the other feed on his snack he so seemed to enjoy.
To tell the truth, it was just an excuse to not speak of whatever Chongyun was pushing to hear, but the cold treat did make his cheeks not seem as hot as the sun.
A gentle hand tapped him in the head and when Xingqiu looked over, Chongyun was smiling at him as he stoked his head, unintentionally messing up the moist hair that stuck together.
"That wasn't so bad, right?" He chuckled.
And there he goes.
Xingqiu's flush returned as quickly as it left, which only made the male suck on the popsicle harder than before.
"Ah, be careful—" Before Chongyun could even finish, Xingqiu's eyes shut tight and he moved his lips away from the ice cream, feeling his brain freezing up.
"Oooww!" Xingqiu complained, leaning his head back as he still held Chongyun's wrist with both hands. The latter started laughing at the other's misfortunes, which made Xingqiu slightly embarrassed.
He quickly covered it with a feigned madness.
"That was your fault! Why did you push me to eat it?!" He said, even his neck turning red. Chongyun just kept laughing as he held his stomach with his free hand.
"How— T-That always happens! You never learn, huh?" Chongyun stuttered between breaths, wiping away a tear.
"That's not funny..." The other pouted.
"Sorry, sorry," He apologized, though he didn't seem sorry.
Xingqiu let go of Chongyun's wrist when he noticed he was still holding it. "Let's leave, it's too hot outside," Xingqiu said as he got up, dusting off his butt from grass and dirt.
Chongyun followed and ate whatever was left of the popsicle in one bite, putting the stick in his pocket.
"Don't forget your book," Chongyun reminded when he realized it still laid on the shade of the tree after Xingqiu took a couple of steps away from it.
The latter turned around and picked it up aggressively, as if he was still embarrassed (and he was).
Chongyun giggled at the cute little gestures, picking up his little fan and immediately waving it in front of his face as they walked away.
"Hey Xingqiu," He called, a few steps behind him.
"What?"
"Do you want a popsicle?" Chongyun smirked, opening another pack.
"Where did you even keep that?!"
Chongyun giggled and sucked on the sweet treat, then offered it to his friend.
"No! Get that away from me!" Xingqiu protested as he started walking faster.
"Come on! Just a bite~" Chongyun teased, matching his speed.
"No! Hey!" Xingqiu broke into a full on sprint down the hill, and Chongyun followed him with an audible laugh, clearly enjoying his revenge for all of the teasing he's been a victim of.
Altough he hated the hot weather, spending it with Xingqiu wasn't so bad.
