Work Text:

It was a well-known fact in the SEVENTEEN dorm that several members did not get sick often, and if they did, it would be bad.

Junhui was one of these members. He rarely got sick, but when he did, it was very bad.

Jeonghan was doing his morning wakeup rounds of the dorm when he found Junhui cuddled up in bed, his face contorted with pain even in sleep. Jeonghan placed a hand on his pale forehead, finding it to be burning. When he pulled the covers a little bit away from Junhui’s face, he saw the feverish flush on his cheeks.

Minghao was still fast asleep on the other side of the room, covers discarded on the floor as they usually were. Jeonghan picked up the covers and threw them back onto the bed as he walked past to get to the bathroom down the corridor.

Jeonghan grabbed Seungcheol from his room before getting a thermometer and some fever reducers from the medicine cabinet.

The two eldest headed back to the China Line’s bedroom where Minghao had been woken up by Jeonghan putting the covers back on his bed. He was just about to shake Junhui awake when the two walked in.

“Morning, HaoHao,” Seungcheol whispered, taking Minghao’s hand and pulling him away from Junhui.

“He feels really warm,” Minghao said, looking over at Junhui.

“Yes, that’s why you’ve got to stay away from him. You two don’t get sick often but when you do, it’s bad so let’s keep it to just one of you, alright?” Seungcheol explained, sitting on Minghao’s bed with him.

Jeonghan shook Junhui awake gently, the younger groaning. He looked insanely feverish.

“Why are you here?” Junhui slurred slightly as he spoke.

“Junhui, you’re burning up,” Jeonghan said, voice gentle as he placed the box of medicine on the nightstand. “Let’s take your temperature.”

Junhui opened his mouth to let Jeonghan slip the thermometer under his tongue.

103℉

“Junhui, you’ve got a serious temperature.” Jeonghan gasped. “103 degrees.”

Junhui just blinked a few times before he whispered. “I feel really sick.”

Seungcheol gently led Minghao out of the room and to the kitchen while Jeonghan supported Junhui to the bathroom.

The moment they were in the bathroom, Junhui’s knees gave out and he gagged, head hanging over the toilet bowl.

As Junhui finally stopped emptying his stomach, he fell limp against Jeonghan, panting for breath as Jeonghan mopped up Junhui’s face.

“You’re okay, HuiHui. Just take a deep breath for me.”

Junhui’s chest was heaving as he lay against Jeonghan’s chest. Sweat dripped down his face, cheeks still bright red and burning to the touch.

“You really are burning up, Junnie. Let’s get you back to bed and comfortable so you can break that fever.”

It was a struggle getting Junhui back to his room, especially when he was complaining about getting Minghao sick too. Jeonghan reassured him that Minghao would sleep in another room and Junhui soon got into bed.

He looked terrible, hair plastered to his forehead with sweat and cheeks flushed with a feverish blush.

“Just get some sleep for me. I’ll come back to check that temperature soon.”

--------------------

It was almost three in the morning when Junhui’s temperature hit 40°C. Jeonghan was quick to wake up both him and Seungcheol so they could get him to the hospital.

Junhui looked confused and absolutely exhausted as Jeonghan helped him pull a coat on and put some shoes on his feet.

The Chinese man started crying as they left the apartment and headed down to the car.

“What’s wrong, bug?” Jeonghan whispered as they stood in the elevator, waiting for the doors to open.

“My head hurts so much,” Junhui whined.

Jeonghan wrapped an arm around his waist to keep him upright as they left the elevator and walked out to the car park where Seungcheol was waiting in the car.

They were only a few meters away from the car when Junhui’s legs gave out and Jeonghan only just managed to grab him before he hit the concrete.

“Junhui? Junhui! Talk to me, bug.” Jeonghan panicked, trying to rouse his unconscious Dongsaeng.

Seungcheol had seen Junhui fall and was now rushing out of the car, getting to his knees beside the two. “Come on, Hannie. We need to get him into the car.”

Jeonghan nodded, wiping away the tears he hadn’t realised he’d shed and letting Seungcheol pick Junhui up bridal-style and get him into the back of the car. Jeonghan got in beside him, holding him close so he didn’t fall out of the seat or slip away.

When they arrived at the hospital, Junhui was quickly taken to a private room because of his idol image but Seungcheol and Jeonghan couldn’t follow him. They were told to go home and rest to pick Junhui up in the morning.

--------------------

They were allowed to pick up Junhui late the next morning.

Minghao came with, anxious about his sick boyfriend and buzzing with relief to be able to see that he was okay.

When they arrived at the hospital, they were led up to Junhui’s room where he was waiting in bed, phone in hand.

“HuiHui!” Minghao ran up to Junhui’s bed and practically threw himself on Junhui.

Junhui just laughed and wrapped his arms around Minghao’s waist, watching Jeonghan and Seungcheol walk over.

“Hey, Junnie. How are you?” Seungcheol asked, Jeonghan perching on the edge of Junhui’s bed.

Junhui gave them his signature gummy smile. “Much better than yesterday. Waking up here wasn’t much fun.”

Jeonghan smiled warmly and took Junhui’s hand. “It’s good to see you feeling better, Hui. The doctor has already signed your discharge papers so we’re good to go.”

Junhui nodded and tapped Minghao’s back to the younger climbed off him. “Let’s go home.” Junhui smiled, taking Minghao’s hand and following him out.

They knew that Junhui was still sick. He would still be off promotions for a week or so and he would still need a bit more care but he was out of the hard stretch and able to go home.

Jeonghan kept Junhui close, still a little frightened after Junhui’s fainting spell the previous night. At least now he knew that Junhui was going to be okay.

When they got back to the dorms Junhui was greeted with smiles and laughs but no hugs for fear of spreading his bug to the other members.

Everyone was glad he was home, and everyone was happy to see him smiling once again.
