Work Text:
Time... so ephemeral.
The days, the nights. The months and years within her plan of Euthymia seemed not to advance. Stagnation and eternity on her plane looked so close, so tangible, so perfect... so different from the real world.
But one point she hadn't considered was loneliness. Not that she hadn't thought about it, quite the contrary. In the years when she hit rock bottom, she discovered that attachment, desires and dreams carry pain and suffering, so living in complete solitude was her ideal, her new vision. However, loneliness is a cruel fate for any living being, including the Electro Archon herself.
She no longer felt the warmth of her sister's hugs and words, she didn't feel the laughter and fun that her friends gave off... inevitable, because of their unjust and hasty deaths.
But there was someone who still remained in her life and who longed for her presence. She craved so strongly that even within her perfect inner world she could hear her desperate prayers.
"I need you, come back"
Ei had decided to ignore her prayers, along with all the others. Yae Miko was strong and independent enough to go on with her life, even without her. The Electro Archon thought that in that way Yae would be safe and their relationship would be eternal, at least as Ei remembered it.
"How selfish I was'' Ei muttered as she brought a cup of tea to her lips. She blew gently and took a drink. The first one was always the most bitter. The warm heat came down her bowels, leaving a warm trail in its way.
"I missed this" The peace she felt at the time was something she hadn't felt in a millennia. She felt at peace with her new decisions, with her past and with her new future.
She hadn't sat in that place to enjoy a good tea since the last meeting with Makoto. The fateful day and the last unfair farewell. But Ei felt calm, she was healing, otherwise the place would only have opened old wounds.
"I'm fine, I feel good" Ei whispered and put her hand on her heart. She felt it beating hard.
She felt alive.
"I know you for a lot of things, but I didn't expect to find you here talking to yourself, unless you were talking to the Shogun?" Yae Miko's soft and mocking voice came to her ears. Her heart raced even more, and she felt her hands sweating. Ei felt strange, she still didn't get used to mundane sensations.
"I was just thinking out loud, Miko" Without turning, Ei heard Yae's light footsteps approaching her position on the ground. Soft and with an innate grace, the Kitsune sat on the tatami next to Ei.
"Why do you have two cups? Were you waiting for someone?" Miko's tone sounded a little annoying. Ei didn't quite understand it but decided to ignore it.
"Actually, I was waiting for you, dear Miko" Ei's eyes were closed, while she took the cup to her lips again and took a long sip of her tea.
"Is that so? How come you were so sure I was coming?" Miko couldn't peel her eyes off Ei's face. She still had a hard time believing that she was there with her, that she wouldn't disappear at any moment.
Even though Miko didn't resent Ei, because she understood the whys of her decision, she was still afraid of losing her again. It was a feeling that did not feel quite right inside her and no matter how much she tried to suppress it she simply could not.
"Of course. After all, we have a connection. I can see everything inside you, Miko" Ei opened her eyes and made a heavy visual connection with her familiar.
If someone confessed that Miko blushed at the actions of her God, they would probably be dead.
Ignoring Ei's words and desperately trying to dodge her gaze, Miko stood from her position next to her God. She had to escape at that very moment.
"I remembered that I have something else to do. See you, Ei."
Her escape was almost perfect, if it weren't for the hand that held her wrist tightly. The Kitsune's eyes widened comically, as she looked at their intertwined limbs.
"I wish to share my thoughts with you, at this very moment" Ei's voice sounded an octave lower than the recurring, her tone sounding almost like the Shogun’s. That indicated to Miko that Ei had gotten serious.
"I know I've made a lot of mistakes. With my people, with my duties and above all, with you. Since I decided to set my sights on the future I made a promise. I will be here protecting my people as I always should have" Ei's pause was dramatic, she took another sip of her tea, this time a little colder. She left the cup on the small table in front of her and got up to miko's height.
"And I'm very proud of my progress. But there is one last promise I have left to make" With firm hands Ei took Miko's hands and stared at her. The Kitsune felt her heart go crazy, almost about to come out of her chest. Her face looked normal and calm as always, with a crooked smile, but inside the emotions were everywhere.
"Miko, I left you once. And I promise never to do it again. I will be by your side accompanying and protecting you when you need it. I will never leave the being most important to me behind again" Ei's eyes reflected sincerity. Not once did she leave the gaze of her familiar.
Until that moment they were only friends. Friends who had always carried feelings they thought were not reciprocated. Despite the connection they had and that they both felt intimate, neither recognized the burning love of the other. A love that transcended eras, lives, eternity itself...
Feeling the chaos within, Miko took her God's cheeks tightly and kissed her lips.
"Finally" They both thought in unison, as the kiss became more careless and desperate. More than a Millennia of repression, of hiding feelings, of losses, of suffering led them to that moment... joined mouths, dancing tongues and beating hearts.
The power of electricity ran through both bodies, leaving a trail of static in its path, as their souls united as one.
“Promise me, promise that you won't leave again" Miko said as she stepped aside just a second to speak and quickly returned to the lips of her only weakness.
Ei's hands took her priestess’s hips tightly, while Miko crossed her arms over Ei's shoulders and approached impossibly closer.
"I promise, Miko" Ei barely managed to recite her promise, before Miko stole her lips again. Both women's hands ran through everything they could reach with their clothes on.
Hormones were crazy in both bodies, and still not used to mundane sensations Ei felt very sensitive. Millennia of repression of her desires, the sensations were new to the Goddess, who wasted no time in separating herself from her love to drag her into the privacy of the Tenshukaku.
Hand in hand, with stolen kisses and giggles, they entered the rooms that would witness the consummation of their love. A unique and unwavering love. No one else had a place in their space. The walls witnessed the burning connection of the Kitsune Yae Miko and her God Raiden Ei.
And that, that was the eternity that Ei sought and finally found.
