“No John with you today?” Anderson sneered at me.
“He’s not shown his face for a good few weeks! Is he bored of the freak now?” Donavan added.
I’d just arrived at the crime scene my deductions came to a halt. I froze. It had been a while since John had accompanied me on a case or just out in general. He’d been spending more time at the clinic working longer hours. Did they have a point? Was he avoiding me? I quickly dismissed that thought, bailing Harry out of jail multiple times meant he needed to pull more hours. Stupid stupid don’t let them distract you.
“Sorry Sherlock but I have a train to catch can we make this quick?” Lestrade said. I looked at him questioningly. He sighed,” We’ve been over this. The case in Manchester? I did ask you to come but you said it was only a 4”
“oh yes the lunatic burning the f#gs in their bars” Anderson said mockingly. Glaring at him I reconsidered; Manchester that would make it at least a 2 day long case even if it was only a 4 John would want to go ‘sightseeing’ and he’s always complaining about wanting a break, needed a holiday and the bad London air. Though I doubt Manchester air is any better.
“ Well Sherlock what do you have? I assume it was an attempted murder” Lestrade prompted. “No no you can clearly see it was a robbery and then they tried to light the house on fire but failed in their rush to escape. Obviously, two people by the footprints out side but only one set inside -the robber- and the other person in charge of creating the fire. A feminine presenting person was the robber hence the long hair caught on the window edge as only a single father and young son live here so-“
“ I’m gonna have to dash Sherlock could you type this up for me thanks” interrupted Lestrade. I nodded, “I’ll see you tomorrow then Graham” He sighed and raised an eyebrow but smiled and left saying, “ Thanks for that mate the case is weighing heavily on my mind it would be good to have you there”.
