Chapter Text
Wei Wuxian was in his favorite place in the world—sprawled out on Lan Wangji's chest—pensively tracing his fingers over the sunburst pattern above his husband's heart. Lan Wangji, always attentive and ever perceptive, made an inquisitive sound.
"Ah, Lan Zhan, it's nothing," he tried, not wanting to spoil a lovely morning after an equally lovely evening courtesy a certain incense burner lit last night. Lan Wangji laced their fingers together and pulled his hand up to press a kiss to the palm.
"Wei Ying," he insisted.
Wei Wuxian sighed. "It's only... this body doesn't have any of my scars. I know you've said you love me either way, but sometimes it feels like the man you fell for has just disappeared."
A small frown formed in the corners of Lan Wangji's eyes, and the next thing Wei Wuxian knew he was on his back.
He brought Wei Wuxian's hand to his lips again. "Wei Ying who dueled me when we first met is here."
Pressed his mouth to Wei Wuxian's chest where a brand once sat. "Wei Ying who protected a young lady is here."
Kissed low on Wei Wuxian's belly. "Wei Ying who gave up his core for his shidi is here."
He pressed kisses all over Wei Wuxian's body, invisible scars he knew the reasons for and ones he knew only from having memorized them in shared dreams.
"Wei Ying is Wei Ying, right here."
