Work Text:
Lu Yao didn't really have a reason to be following behind Qiao Chusheng. Clearly, the man had longer legs compared to Chusheng and he even sweared to Chusheng that he would arrive at their destination first. But for sudden reasons known only to himself, he decided to follow behind Chusheng.
"Santu-ah, didn't you say you would reach on top first?" Chusheng had stopped, currently standing with one leg up on a stone, looking back at Lu Yao with a grin.
Lu Yao could only swallow the lump in his throat, trailling his eyes down Chusheng's bare torso. "I'm tired already, so you can head on first." He says as he flicks his head to the side with a tinge of sass, trying to avoid looking at Chusheng directly.
Chusheng chuckles, "Come on, I'll help you up this few steps."
Lu Yao looks at the hand stretched-out towards him and without hesitation, grabbed on to it as Chusheng pulled him up. He gave two awkward pats on Chusheng's bare shoulder when he was pulled too close to the man. "Thank you." His hand lingered on the shoulder.
Chusheng raised a brow at Yao's weird behaviour. "Try to keep up." He says and releases Lu Yao's hand. He starts back up the hill again, and Lu Yao watches Chusheng's back flex at every movement.
Lu Yao's going to keep up alright.
"Oh, and Santu?" Chusheng suddenly speaks just as Lu Yao was carefully testing his footing on a mouldy rock. "If you stare at me harder, I might just carry you up this hill myself." There was a definite teasing tone behind that sentence and Lu Yao flustered terribly.
"I wasn't staring!" Lu Yao exclaims as he felt the back of his neck heat up. He could see Chusheng's shoulder shake in laughter and starts trailing behind a bit slower, embarrased that he was caught.
