Summary
The barista was a pretentious young man in an expensive shirt and delicate wire-rimmed glasses. His dark hair fell past his collar like he was some sort of art student.
"Iced black coffee, no sweetener," Luo Wenzhou ordered. He wasn't picky about coffee as long as it wasn't decaf or instant.
The barista gave him a long, slow blink, eloquently expressing his opinion of the grandpa who had just walked into his shop with such an unimaginative order.

Summary
Truthfully speaking, Edwin is nearly always afraid, in some capacity or another. He can relax and laugh with Charles, certainly, but he rarely forgets the Hell-forged sword poised at his neck, ready to strike at the slightest slip up or mistake. Fear is nothing new to him.
Sometimes though, sometimes, that fear slips over into terror and his feet glue themselves to the floor. It is cruel, to be so pleased when Charles is there to jolt him free again, to delight in Charles' presence, in the midst of the danger with Edwin. But Edwin delights in it anyway.
Or: a case involving demons, dolls, and magical ghostly tortures bring Edwin's fear to the forefront, but Charles is never far behind.

Summary
Natsume deftly folded the paper, leaving bloodied fingerprints on the back of the thick parchment, and tucked it into his mouth. He clapped his hands, the crisp sound piercing the chill air, as he threw his head back and closed his eyes. The ink began to separate from the paper and flow as if carried away on an unfelt breeze. There was a flash of light, and the shadow was gone. Natsume fell back to his knees, breathing heavily.
The courtyard fell silent. The icy wind had died down, and the circle etched in the dirt had faded away.
Then his eyes fluttered open, and he saw the Fujiwaras standing at the gate.Bookmarked by noden

Summary
“Where is your backup?” Fei Du manages to ask. He’d bring up an arm and try to cover his nose with his sleeve, but he’s afraid if he attempted to drive with only one hand, he truly would lead them to their demise.
A sound escapes Luo Wenzhou’s mouth—something akin to a half-crazed laugh, if Fei Du had any mind to hazard a guess. “Backup? That’s a damn good question.”
It doesn’t seem possible, but if his speedometer isn’t lying to him, Fei Du is suddenly driving much, much faster than before. And if he weren’t preoccupied with keeping down the contents of his guts, he’d be muttering every curse word under the sun intermingled with prayers to gods he doesn’t believe in.
