Work Text:
That evening, after Jaskier had finished a performance in the pub, he retired to his room where you waited for him, wistfully staring out the window. The weather had been absolutely awful the past few days, delaying yours, Jaskier, and Geralt’s departure from the village you currently resided in. Although, Geralt had already defeated the creature the plagued the village, it was unsafe to move on, leaving the three of you to find ways to keep yourself entertained.
“It’s raining so much.” you commented, not tearing your gaze away from the harsh weather Mother Nature had in store for the evening. There was something about the storm that entranced you, and you had spent all evening curled up by the window, alternating between gazing outside and reading your book.
Unknown to you, Jaskier stared at you lovingly, also entranced, but by your beauty, not of the storm found outside. When he noticed your body involuntary shiver, he walked up behind you, and you felt Jaskier’s hands wrap around your waist and his chin tuck against the crook of your neck. “I know a way to warm you up.” he whispered, his warm breath fanning across your neck.
“Jaskier!” you scolded with a teasing smile as you jumped and turned around in his arms to stare in his dazzling blue eyes.
“What, my love?” he questioned, with a faux innocent gaze. “I simply meant that we could cuddle.” he suggested, nuzzling his head further into the crook of your neck.
With a sweet smile, you leaned in and gently placed your lips against his as you felt the arms wrapped around you warming you up, and you tasted the faint trace of ale from his plush lips. You felt your heart beat faster as Jaskier deepened the kiss, because even after all the time the two of you had been together, he continued to find ways to take your breath away. When the two of you, finally, pulled apart, Jaskier rested his forehead against yours and placed a soft, sweet kiss to the tip of your nose.
“Let’s go to bed, darling.” he suggested when he felt your body shiver against his once more, and he guided you towards the warm bed where the two of you spent the rest of the evening, tangled in each other’s embrace.
