• Damen did not deal the killing blow to Auguste but he was still branded as his killer.
• Laurent was not present at battle of Marlas and doesn't know what Damen looks like(save for a description).
• Laurent was not abused by his uncle, despite the Regent's attempts at it. Their relationship is hostile.
• Laurent was made King after the death of his brother. However he holds little political power under the pressure of the Council of Vere and The Regent's constant efforts to make him appear unfit to rule.Changes to characters/sexual preferences:
• Damen is a masochist/sub/bottom. He can't make sense of it and is upset and embarrassed by the fact, resisting it with all his might.
• Laurent is a sadist/dom/top who has never had the pleasure of having a proper masochist slave/partner before getting his hands on Damen.
