Work Text:
“Are you ready to go?” Heedo yelled to Yurim from the front door.
The latter was still packing and Heedo was getting antsy about finding a good camping spot, thinking if they left too late, they wouldn’t be able to secure one.
“Yea just-“ Yurim‘s sentence was cut off by her own struggling noises “I’m trying to- UGH! Close my suitcase…” Heedo heard her huffing from all the way down the hall.
“Do you need some help?” Heedo asked, already walking to their room to assist Yurim.
“Yes please” Yurim pouted as Heedo entered the room.
Small traces of sweat were evident on Yurim’s forehead and stray hairs sprung out all across her head. She looked exhausted and Heedo knew that this fight with her luggage had probably been going on for a while, and Yurim was determined to win it.
A loving sigh left Heedo’s lips and she walked over to the suitcase, “Yurim-ah, you can’t just throw all your fencing stuff in here and expect it to fit.” She chuckled.
“I didn’t even put my swords in though… I don’t know why it doesn’t work” Yurim frowned “I just thought maybe there would be a place to train there.”
“It’s okay, I get it.” Heedo smoothed out some of Yurim’s hair, ignoring the fact that she thought there would be a fencing training center in a campground “But if you want to bring your gear, you’re gonna have to fold these clothes. You can’t fit anything on top of a clothes pile.”
Yurim nodded and together they unpacked her things, and repacked them the right way. The two were able to fit everything Yurim wanted, (besides her fencing mask, but Yurim agreed that she could just carry it) and they loaded it into the car.
“Let’s get this show on the road!” Heedo said, kicking her feet excitedly as Yurim started the car, and drove out of the driveway. Heedo’s energy was contagious and Yurim found herself smiling wider than she had in a while.

The drive to campground took about thirty minutes but their eagerness to arrive made it seem like hours.
They parked in the lot of their campsite and stepped out of the car. Heedo opened the trunk to retrieve their individual luggages first, being careful with Yurim’s as to not damage her fencing equipment. She waddled over to Yurim, trying to carry everything herself.
“Okay, I got our stuff” Heedo smiled.
Eyes widening at Heedo’s obvious struggle, Yurim rushed over and grabbed her bag, knowing it was the heaviest, and set it on the floor “Heedo-ya! You have to let me help you!”
“I wanted to show you how strong I was” Heedo explained.
“I already know you’re strong dummy,” Yurim sighed. She said nothing for a few seconds before an idea popped into her head “Hey, Heedo, if you really want me to see how strong you are, you should set up the tent”
Yurim had gone camping before and she knew setting up the tent was hell. She felt slightly bad for tricking Heedo into the unwanted labor but she figured that her girlfriend had enough drive to complete the task.
“Yurim-ah…” Heedo placed her stuff down and headed back to the car for the tent “You stay right here, I’m gonna make this tent so well you’ll cry at it’s beauty”
Doing what she was told, Yurim stood back and watched Heedo work.

To say putting up the tent was a fail, would be an understatement.
They struggled majorly. The process went something like this: Heedo tried to set up the tent and after a while, she got frustrated and cried. Reluctantly, she asked Yurim to help. Yurim attempted to make the tent as well but she couldn’t figure out what the instructions wanted her to do. Eventually, Yurim gave up, and the defeat left her refusing to speak to anyone for almost two hours.
Finally, Heedo had the idea to ask someone who actually had a tent, to help them.
“Yurim-ah” Heedo said softly, tugging lightly on Yurim’s sleeve.
Yurim was leaning against the grated metal fence that separated their camp site from the three that surrounded them. One on their left and right, and one behind. She had her arms crossed and Heedo could see her fists were clenched tightly, a product of her prior frustration that still lingered in her mind.
At hearing Heedo’s voice, Yurim didn’t look up. Instead, she pulled Heedo into a hug and hid her face in Heedo’s shoulder.
“Oh, Love, you’re okay.” Heedo said gently, hugging Yurim back “I think I know what to do. There’s people over there who have a tent set up so I think we should ask them for help”
Nodding, Yurim finally spoke “Okay.”
Heedo smiled “Please talk more, I missed hearing your voice”
“I figured,” a small smile crept on to Yurim’s face “I’m sorry for getting mad, I love you”
“I love you too” Heedo said “Now, it’s getting late so let’s go ask for some help.”

The people Heedo had found were a nice older couple, who were more than happy to help and teach them the correct way to set up camp.
Soon, the large tent, courtesy of Yurim’s mother, was set up and they began bringing in their things.
Both of them had one personal suitcase (as well as Yurim having a separate bag for her swords) and on top of that, they packed a shared suitcase with blankets and a few other needed items.
The luggage was placed in the corner of the tent and Heedo unzipped the suitcase with blankets to take out their sleeping bags.
“Here’s yours.” Heedo smiled, holding out a grey sleeping bag for Yurim.
“Thank you” Yurim took her sleeping bag and began laying it out, Heedo did the same, making sure to place her blue one right next to Yurim’s.
“What time is it?” Yurim asked.
Heedo checked her watch and read the time “It’s almost 7:45.”
“Really?”
“Mhm”
“Wow,” Yurim remarked “I didn’t even realize”
“Well, I know you go to bed pretty early so do you wanna settle in now?” Heedo asked, Yurim nodded.
They zipped up the tent and changed into their pajamas before climbing into their sleeping bags.
“Goodnight, Baby” Yurim said, closing her eyes to go to sleep.
“‘Night” Heedo replied.
Yurim tried to sleep for a few minutes but Heedo’s loud sighing kept her awake.
“What’s up, Baby?” Yurim asked turning to face Heedo “You alright?”
“Well, I mean, you didn’t kiss me before you went to sleep” Heedo sulked.
“Oh, I’m sorry” Yurim looked at Heedo softly before gently grabbing her face and placing a light kiss on her lips “Better?”
Heedo sighed “Not really” She kicked her feet in frustration, causing her sleeping bag to ruffle “It’s just… I’m not able to hug you. The sleeping bag gets in the way”
Yurim felt like she was going to cry. ‘How is she so cute?’ She thought, taking a deep breath to calm herself down.
“I think I have an idea Heedo-ya.” Yurim spoke “I saw this life hack where you can connect two sleeping bags and make it, like, one big one”
Heedo perked up “Really?”
Yurim nodded “I’ll set it up and then we can go to sleep, okay?”
“Okay!”
Yurim did what she said, standing up to put the two sleeping bags together before laying it back down on the floor.
“Alright,” Yurim said “I think that should work” She crawled into the sleeping bag and held her hand out for Heedo, guiding her into the warm bed-like area.
Heedo quickly shuffled towards Yurim, throwing her arm over the latter, and hugging her closely to rest her face against Yurim’s chest.
At home, the sound of Yurim’s heartbeat immediately made Heedo pass out most nights, so the familiarity began to lull her to sleep.
Yurim craned her neck downwards to kiss the top of Heedo’s head and wrapped her leg around Heedo’s own, trying to bring her girlfriend even closer.
“I love you so much, Heedo-ya.” Yurim confessed “Sleep well”
Heedo raised her head slightly and planted a chaste kiss on Yurim’s collarbone as conformation that she, in fact, loved Yurim too. The sweet gesture made Yurim melt and she pulled Heedo impossibly nearer to herself once more.
Yurim closed her eyes and began to fall asleep, her and Heedo’s breaths evenly syncing in the cold air of the tent that threatened to invade their comfortable embrace.
Since they’d be camping for a few days, Yurim fell asleep with excitement about spending time with Heedo that didn’t involve trying to hit her with a sword (Even though playing her favorite sport against her favorite person was never a bad way to spend her time).
