Chapter Text
“Mirabel!”
Mirabel turned around slowly.
“What are you doing?”
“Well they were just- asking about the family and-“
“She was about to tell us about her super awesome gift!!”
Mirabel sighed.
“Oh. Mirabel didn’t get one. Hm!” Dolores shrugged.
The children turned to her. “You didn’t get a gift?”
“Uhm..”
“Mirabel! Delivery!” A townsperson approached her with a basket.
“I gave you the special since you’re the only Madrigal kid with no Gift. I call it the “Not Special Special” since, uh, you have no Gift.” He said, throwing the basket into her arms.
“Thanks..” She forced a smile.
“Oh! And tell Antonio I said goodluck on his ceremony. Last gift ceremony was a bummer! Last one being yours, that- that did not work.” He laughed.
“Uh-huh.” She watched the man walk away.
“If I were you, I’d be really sad.” A girl said.
Mirabel looked down at the girl. “Well, my little friend, gift or no gift, I am just as special as the rest of my family.” Mirabel didn’t know if she was telling herself that or the kids that.
“Alright guys, where do I drop the wagons?”
“Who wants more pink?”
“Maybe your gift is being in denial..”
“I made a rainbow!”

Mirabel huffed and placed down her stupid “Not special special” Basket.
“Woah, amor, you okay? You don’t have to overdo it.” Julieta noticed her daughter struggling with the basket.
“I know mamá, I just want to do my part like the rest- woah!” Casita’s tiles rattled and pushed them into a room they didn’t know existed, the rest of the family following after. Plus an arepa. Wonder who that’s for.
“Um, what just happened” Camilo spoke first.
“I don’t think any of us know.” Félix replied.
“Mamá, did you bring an arepa?“ Mirabel asked.
“There’s one here.” Julieta picked up the arepa that had flew in. “Are you hurt?”
“No, papá is.” Mirabel signalled to Agustín, who had unfortunately been near bees that day.
“Ay dios mío” Julieta gave the arepa to Agustín.
“Who’s that?“ Antonio asked, pointing to a man in a green hood.
The man sighed and pulled down his hood, quite annoyed he was caught.
“Bruno!?” Both Julieta and Pepa gasped.
“Hey-“ He was cut off by his two sisters hugging him.
“Okay, what is going on. Casita just shoved us into a random room that didn’t exist before, and now Tío Bruno is back? Why is everyone acting like this is a normal thing?” Camilo looked around at everyone. “Also what even is that?” He pointed to a slightly lit up large square on the wall.
“Woah, it’s like a giant television.” Luisa said.
The screen then flashed, the words PLEASE COME TO THE CENTER OF THE ROOM appeared.
The family gathered in the middle. Abuela in the front, Julieta was on her right side with Agustín, Isabela and Luisa besind them. Pepa was on Abuela’s left side with félix, all three of their children next to them.
Bruno and Mirabel were on the side. Mirabel noticed he distanced himself from the family, so she went with him. She didn’t think he was as bad as people said he was. She knew that family weirdos just get a bad rep sometimes.
The screen flashed again. The words, YOU WILL NOW BE WATCHING THE EVENTS OF YOUR FUTURE AND EVENTS OF EARLIER TODAY, appeared.
The family looked at each other. Why were they doing this? No idea. The screen flashed again, then, the film started
