Work Text:

"How many goddamn times do I have to tell you that you have no say in who I fuck?"

Tara shakes her head while clenching her jaw, "The night we fucked, maybe? I didn't think this was one-sided, Amber."

Amber rolled her eyes as she flops down on the basement couch in her house where once again, her and Tara are fighting at a party. This has been the millionth time they've fought. Quite frankly, Amber's tired of it.

Tara looks up at the ceiling trying to hold back her tears, "If you didn't want this, then you should've told me from the beginning."

Amber sighs moving closer to Tara, "Of course I want this, I'm just not good at commitment."

Tara shakes her head, "Then, why'd you choose me? Why did you decide to fucking fuck the one person that easily falls in love?"

Amber stands there in shock for a few seconds, flabbergasted by the admission, "Wait, what? You're in love with me?"

Tara chuckles maliciously wiping her tears, "Isn't it fucking obvious? I've been in love with you the minute we came down here to get beer."

"Oh." Amber blinks with no expression on her face, wondering what to do.

"'Oh.' That's all you've got to say?" Tara asks wiping the tear running down her cheek, "Alright I got my answer then. Bye, Amber."

Amber shakes out of her shock, pulling Tara back into her arms, holding her with ever might in her body, shushing Tara's cries. The taller woman knows exactly what's going to happen in the future, but she can't stand to see the woman she's been with cry because of her.

"I'm sorry," Amber mumbles into Tara's hair.

Tara attempts to control her breathing, but it's difficult with her asthma. She starts to lose her breath as her face is hidden in Amber's shirt. She pulls away looking around frantically for her an inhaler. Amber eyes widen at the action before she quickly goes towards Tara's jacket, pulling out an inhaler, giving it to the younger woman. The taller woman watches Tara slowly catch her breath once again after a few hits with the inhaler.

"Are you okay?" Amber asks softly, not wanting to upset the girl even more.

Tara let's out a breath, nodding, "Yeah, I just need you to answer me honestly."

"Okay," Amber trails off with a raised eyebrow.

"Is this." Tara indicates between her and Amber, "Serious to you. If it's not, then I'm wasting my time."

Amber imagines herself rolling her eyes at this moment, but thankfully she stops before she can, "If you want me to be honest with you, then I don't know."

"What does that even mean?" Tara asks taking another hit from her inhaler.

Amber runs her hand through her hair before sitting down next to Tara, "I'm a heartbreaker. I don't do relationships, Tara."

"Was that your full intention with me?" Tara questions shaking her head, "That's fucked up if that's the case."

Amber shrugs with a small smirk on her face, "Probably at first, but I really do like you. Like, a lot."

Tara glances over at Amber, "But you're a heartbreaker?"

Amber grins slightly at Tara, wrapping an arm around her shoulder, "Remember what I said when we were upstairs when the party was happening?"

"What?" Tara asks, not quite remembering what was said. She was too focused on getting Amber out of the living room and up to the older woman's bedroom.

Amber moves closer, pressing a kiss to her cheek before moving to Tara's ear and whispering, "I'm only going to break your heart."

Tara shivers at the action before slightly pushing Amber away from her, "That's not a good thing."

"No." Amber shrugs leaning back against the couch with her legs open, much to Tara's delight, "But it's what makes me, me. That's not going to change."

"You're a piece of work." Tara scoffs pushing herself up from the couch, watching Amber smirk at the action.

"Maybe so," Amber starts leaning forward so her elbows are resting on her knees, glancing at the younger girl with those big brown eyes she adores, "are you up for the ride?"

Tara stands there for a second before mumbling something under her breath walking towards the older woman with a determined look on her face, pulling the older woman's lips to her lips. Amber let's out a sigh, grabbing Tara by the back of her neck pulling her more towards her. Tara is more than willing to admit the butterflies running through her stomach, but Amber is not as willing to admit that. To herself.

Amber slowly pulls away looking in Tara's eyes, as the younger girl chases Amber's lips, catching them with hers once again. The older woman smiles in the middle of the kiss, making Tara's heart swarm with a million sparks of love.

"I'm dumb for saying this, but please don't break my heart too much," Tara mumbles leaning her forehead against Amber's.

"This sounds toxic." Amber chuckles, pulling Tara closer to her so the younger girl is straddling her.

Tara twirls a strand of Amber's hair with her finger smirking at the girl in front of her, "What makes you think I won't break your heart?"

Amber chuckles placing her hands on Tara's waist, squeezing lightly, "I don't have a heart."

"Oh, but you do." Tara places her hand on Amber's heart, feeling it beat slightly against her, "What do you say, Freeman?"

"I'd like to see you try," Amber mutters looking into Tara's eyes, seeing the slight sparkle lightening up in her eyes.

"What do I get if I break your heart?" Tara mumbles, nipping Amber's bottom lip slightly.

Amber's eyes are locked onto Tara's full lips with a smirk, "Like I said, beautiful. It won't happen."

Tara bites her lip, watching the way Amber's eyes follow the action before smirking at the older woman, "This will be really fun, won't it?"

Amber finally has had enough with the talking as she pulls Tara in for a hard, passionate kiss. The older woman seemingly can't get enough of the younger girl as Amber runs her hands across Tara's hips and waist.

Tara pulls away with a smirk, "Let the games begin."

Two Months Later…

"Tara! Open the door!" Mindy screams from the other side, pounding on the door wondering what's taking the younger girl so long to answer it.

On the other side of the door are two woman lying on the bed, their lips attached with no worry in the world. Tara trails her lips down Amber's neck, marking her, excluding the fact that Amber doesn't like markings. Tara doesn't give a fuck about that rule. All Tara cares about is making Amber feel so good, she won't even remember her own name.

"Mm, maybe we should stop." Amber attempts to pull her lips away from Tara, but is unsuccessful.

"Shut the fuck up," Tara mumbles against Amber's lips after she trails them back up. As Tara begins to trail her fingers down to the place Amber desperately wants them once again, she pulls away at the last second with a smirk on those puffy lips.

"What the fuck?" Amber says with wide eyes and puffed lips, "You bitch."

"My house." Tara pecks Amber's lips, "My rules."

Amber chuckles leaning back against the pillows as she watches Tara get dressed, "Oh, you bitch."

"You know it." Tara winks throwing Amber's jeans in her direction before putting Amber's shirt on, "Hurry up."

"You can't rush perfection, Carpenter." Amber rolls her eyes as she slips on her bra, underwear, and jeans before turning towards Tara, "Can I at least get a shirt?"

"Hm," Tara starts, "I don't think so. I like this sight."

Amber rolls her eyes before shrugging, "Whatever suits you. I like showing off my goodies anyways."

Tara bites her lip to hide her jealously at the thought of  other women seeing Amber shirtless, but all Tara does is smile and nod before opening the door to see Mindy standing there with a smirk.

"Hello, lesbians." Mindy beams at the two, who scoff and walk past her, "Who pissed in your Cheerios?"

Amber runs her hand through her long, messy hair, which causes Tara to feel things down south.

"No one," Tara replies with a shrug as she smiles at Chad, Liv, and Wes who are sitting on the couch, seemingly waiting for them, "Hi Wes. I missed you."

Wes's eyes widen with a cheesy smile, "I missed you too." Wes glances down at Tara's outfit noticing the different, yet familiar shirt Tara's wearing. "Is that Amber's shirt?"

"Yeah." Tara nods, cuddling into Wes, "Doesn't matter though."

"Matters to me," Amber mutters as she sits down on the chair next to Mindy, shivering at the AC hitting her naked shoulders.

"Are you jelly?" Mindy whispers in Amber's ear, watching the younger girl interact with the Sheriff's son.

"No." Amber clenches her fists as she sees Tara laugh at Wes' dumb fucking jokes. Her jokes are funny... right?!

"It's kinda hot," Mindy admits causing Amber to scoff, "I love jealous Amber. If I wasn't into Frances, I'd be into you."

"Oh shut the hell up," Amber mumbles with an eye roll as she wraps her arms around herself, turning away from the boy and her girl.

Liv notices everything as she smiles in delight as she knows Amber's initial plan is backfiring. Liv knew that Amber wasn't telling her the truth. She knew that the raven-haired girl had the hots for the very cute Tara Carpenter. Amber wasn't too good at hiding many things from Liv. All Liv is going to do now is enjoy the dramatic show that is about to play out.

Tara's not dumb. She might be a bit naive when it comes to Freeman, but she's not dumb. She knows that Amber is a heartbreaker, and more than likely, she will break her heart. What Amber doesn't know that Tara is more than capable of breaking her heart too. Not that Tara wants to break Amber's heart; she wants to see her struggle and experience her own taste of medicine. Tara wants one thing, and that one thing is Amber Freeman's heart.

"Let's play Truth or Dare," Mindy suggests, getting tired of this indirect nonsense between Amber and Tara.

"No," Amber grumbles out, crossing her arms.

"Sure!" Tara exclaims, pulling Wes closer to her body, well aware that Amber is watching.

"Amber, truth or dare?" Tara starts with a small smirk.

"Truth," Amber grumbles.

"Is it true all you wanted to do was break my heart?" Tara asks with a smirk on her face as she watches Amber's expression change into something she can't quite put her finger on.

"No," Amber admits, much to Tara's surprise.

"Anyways," Mindy interrupts, "Wes, truth or dare?"

"Since I'm not a pussy, dare," Wes shoots back, grinning at Amber, who rolls her eyes.

"I dare you to kiss Tara."

Amber's jaw is close to cracking with how much she's clenching it right now. She watches as Wes slowly leans in and places his lips on Tara's, who is still looking at Amber, but making out with Wes.

"Fuck this," Amber mutters standing up and walking out of the living room to the front door, slamming it on the way out. Tara and Wes pull their lips away from each other after hearing the door.

"Damn," Chad mumbles.

"Fuck," Tara says as she quickly gets out of Wes' grasp to chase down Amber, who is making her way down the drive way to her car, "Amber! Stop!"

"Go back to your boyfriend," Amber mutters unlocking her car, "That's where you want to be."

"No it's not!" Tara exclaims, "I don't like him!"

"Sure." Amber shakes her head at the girl in front of her, "I doubt that."

"The only person I like is you," Tara starts, "you never tell me how you feel about me!"

Amber quickly snaps her head up at Tara, "Do you wanna know how I feel? Okay, fuck it. Fine. I've liked you since the minute I saw you in kindergarten. I've liked the way you would mess around with your pigtails when you were nervous. I liked the way you wouldn't even tell on me when I pushed you in the sandbox. I like you so fucking much, I would literally kill for you."

"Amber," Tara trails off not quite knowing what to say, "I didn't mean it at all. I was just playing along to your game. You literally said you would break my heart."

"I'm not good at acknowledging my feelings, but do you honestly thing I'm that fucked up I would purposely hurt your feelings?" Amber questions feeling a slight ting in her heart, "I wouldn't break your heart."

"Why would you fucking tell me you would then?" Tara asks frustrated with the older girl, who just shakes her head at her.

"I thought you knew me better," Amber mumbles with a slight chuckle, wiping her tears, "You were really on planning to break my heart?"

"I..." Tara trails off.

Amber nods as she opens the car door, "Answers my question. Goodbye, Tara."

"Amber, no!" Tara exclaims watching Amber speed off her street, "fuck!"

Tara wipes away the tears falling from her eyes as she makes her way into the house, where she sees the group of friends standing by the door, watching the scene play out.

"Go home," Tara mutters, "Please."

All of them quickly leave, but Wes stays a minute to give Tara a hug, which she pushes away from her before slamming the door in their faces.

"Well shit," Chad says rubbing the back of his neck, "that's awkward."

Liv sighs, "This is so toxic."

"I love the show!" Mindy exclaims, "You do know they'll be banging each other within a week, right?"

"Not now, Mindy." Chad rolls his eyes, "I need a drink. Let's go home."

If there was one thing that Tara would be thinking about this relationship with Amber, she would never have thought she'd be the one to break Amber's heart. Lord knows she has a mess to clean up soon in order to fix Amber's heart.
