Work Text:
Kirby stretched, walking back into Waddle Dee town after returning from an expedition to the Wondaria Remains, Elfilin at his side. Together, they had rescued several more Waddle Dees, and also fought another high-ranking member of the Beast Pack, Clawroline, though she too refused to explain why the Beast Pack was kidnapping Waddle Dees. Kirby looked around, trying to see if the Waddle Dees had built anything new for their town. They had a habit of building things while he and Elfilin were away. This time it looked as though they had cleared the trees to make way for...
A giant Colosseum.
Of course. There always had to be an arena involved in his adventures somehow, didn't there? He just hoped he didn't have to go through another True Arena or whatever the equivalent was going to be here. He'd had enough of those things for a lifetime, he swore.
Kirby ordered some food for himself and Elfilin at the cafe, which the little mouse dug into happily. Kirby moved to eat his food as well...
Just in time to see a familiar black shadow swoop down into the Arena from above.
Kirby accidentally knocked his food off the table in shock, prompting Elfilin to ask the pink puff in he was okay in a worried tone.
Holy crap... Was that Meta Knight he just saw!!?
After quickly reassuring Elfilin that he was okay, Kirby ran toward the Colosseum in the distance. He needed answers. Now.

The announcer Waddle Dee at the Colosseum's front gate confirmed his suspicions. Meta Knight was here, and he was training at the Colosseum as they spoke. Kirby signed up for a tournament almost immediately. He needed to see his friend again. He needed to.

Kirby stepped out into the the last trial of the arena and immediately saw what he was looking for. There he was. Meta Knight.
A part of Kirby wanted to run out and shout, overjoyed at finding someone he knew in this foreign place, about how glad he was to see Meta Knight and how much catching up they had to do, but something in Meta Knight's gaze stopped him. We can catch up later, it said. But for now, we have a fight to finish.
Meta Knight drew his sword, and Kirby pulled out his as well. They both rushed at each other across the arena, and as Kirby heard the familiar sound of clashing blades, he knew everything was going to be all right.
