Constant Companions

Summary:

Jack Frost was lonely, but never alone.

He had his constant companions, and as long as he had the Wind and his staff, he could be happy.

Work Text:

Stepping out onto the frozen lake in Burgess, Jack Frost ran his fingers across it, gliding with an elegant type of joy that peppered his laughs into the wind. His grin was something magnificent. An unseen treasure that was coveted by the few that knew of his existence. He whipped his staff around his back, pushing frost through the wintry wind and across the plant life in the surrounding area. The adolescent boy seemed to dance to an unheard melody. His body waved alongside the wind that pushed him across the ice.

Jumping into the air, the boy span around, little flakes of snow releasing from the edge of his staff and his fingertips. Falling from the sky, he could feel the snow pepper down on the few people that lived in the area. other than the animal calls from the nearby wildlife, it was mostly silent. The only other sounds belonged to the wind, the whoosh of the breeze, the rustle of it skipping between the leaves of the trees and bushes.

It was mostly silent, but to those than knew, the most musical sound was that of the overjoyed laugh of Jack Frost. Unseen by all, but loved by himself. And, in his mind at least, that was the most important thing of all. So maybe he didn't have any believers, or any friends other than his constant companion, but he was happy.
