I Still Love You (I Don't Want to Let Go)

Summary:

Inspired by ideas that StrawberryMilk had:

Raz and Lili (through some form of misunderstanding) think that the other is going to break up with them. This leads to them avoiding the other because they can't break up if they don't talk to each other!

However with the gossipy nature of the Motherlobe and the kids trying to find ways to make sure their relationship doesn't peter out, the rest of the Motherlobe learns about the situation quickly.

Chapter 1: Loud and Clear

Chapter Text

The words rang in Razputin’s mind as he ran through the atrium. He was biting his lip as they repeated. “Yeah, these things aren’t supposed to last forever. It’s a shame, but I’m sure Raz would understand.”

Except he couldn’t understand. He thought everything between him and Lili had been great! He was just about to go up to randomly check in with her and her father (maybe finally ask her about the kisses if she was alone up there and he could muster up the courage), but apparently not.

Apparently, he had done such a bad job that she didn’t want to be his girlfriend anymore. And as if he was trying to torment himself, his mind was hearing all those times they had said the words about each other.

“That’s not his girlfriend, you little snitch! I’m his girlfriend!”

“Your boyfriend!?”

“AND you kidnapped… my GIRLFRIEND!”

“Oh no, you didn’t just hit my BOYFRIEND!”

Raz kept down all the emotions he could as he ran out of the Motherlobe. But it was hard . Despite the fact he knew he had disappointed his family, and maybe even done poor in front of a crowd… he’d never lost someone’s love before. It was heartbreaking.

He was at a loss of what to do. He couldn’t tell any of the Psychonauts! They would all probably be on Lili’s side, considering how she’s grown up with them! Wasn’t there anyone he could readily bounce ideas off of to get some clari–

Raz’s eyes widened as a thought hit him. Pressing one hand to his temple and waving his other hand in the air, he heard scribbles until “Hello, handsome!”

Raz sniffed, looking to his Archetype. “Okay Archie: Here’s the deal.” Raz began to pace around the landing pad. “I just heard my girlfriend talk about how things need to start changing. ‘These things aren’t supposed to last forever.’ I don’t know what to say in response to that. I mean, I still want Lili’s and my relationship to stay the same. N-not that I don’t respect her emotions, I just… I just want to think that there’s some way to fix this. What should I say to her?”

Archie swung his hips back and forth. “I think we should see other people!”

Raz sighed, knowing Archie had a point. Archie would only give Raz the solutions if Razputin knew them himself. But he didn’t know this solution.

And the only place he knew that could give him answers and comfort that he knew Lili would never go near was–
