Universe 1: Mobius - Eggman's base
03:44 P.M.
"Knuckles, I need you to give Sonic a speedboost!"
"Copy that!"
"HAAAAAAA-"
"Amy?"
"Sorry, a bot was about to sneak attack you!"
Sonic smiled at her, before frowning. "Where is Eggman, anyway?"
"My radar can't detect any human signature." Tails spoke, turning the Tornado around. "I don’t understand! These bots aren't even using their full potential!"
Knuckles growled, and smashed another bot with his fists. "This is definitely one of his scemes..."
"You think?!" Amy yelled back, running of to go after a swarm of robots that was trying to escape.
A light beam. They all froze and looked up.
"...he's using the chaos emeralds!" Tails gasped. From his point of view, it looked so much worse. And the radar on the Tornado was going crazy!
"He can't." Knuckles said calmly. "He's missing one."
Right. The emerald Tails had with him to power the plane. Still.. "Its not all of them, sure, but its still dangerous!" Sonic started running, going inside the base.
"You idiot- what are you doing?!"
"What does it look like?!" Sonic yelled. "I'm getting the emeralds back! Tails, think its safe to be backup?"
Tails checked his radars, the readings, before pushing the wheel forward, making the plane go closer to the tower. "I'll go as close as I can!"
Then everything had happened so fast.
"...the robots are retreating!"
"What is happening-"
"U-uhm.. Sonic?"
Laughter.
"EGGMAN!"
"Seems like you came afteral! Behold, my master plan!"
"S-sonic?"
Beep beep beep beep beep
"The plane is picking up major chaos energy!"
"Why isn't he answering!?"
"Eggman, whatever you are about to do-"
beep beep beep beep beep
"GUYS?!"
Sonic heard none of it. All he saw was that the beam of light was connected to a weapon.. pointing at him.
He didn't see the Tornado. He didn't hear his friends scream.
"Goodbye, hedgehog !"
He tried to run.. but hadn't been fast enough. The chaos emeralds were too strong. He got hit. And as everything went white, the last thing he remembered was a shout of his name.
"SONIC!!!"
Universe 2: Earth - Open field
03:45 P.M.
Tom sat inside his car, playing with his phone instead of looking out the road. Nothing ever happened here, so he still didn't understand why he was put on road duty to begin with. God, he was bored..
His family was home by now, and Tom wanted nothing more then to join them.
His little family- which used to be just him, Maddie and Ozzie- but now with their three adopted kids. Going oldest to youngest, Knuckles, an echinda warrior with his love for grapes, Sonic, the fastest thing alive, and Miles- or as he preffered to be called, Tails, a kid-genius.
He loved them.
...even if Sonic did get their house destroyed. Twice. And Tails tore apart the microwave. And Knuckles smashed the TV to "free the people inside"-...
Atleast Tails was able to repair it..
Tom chuckled to himself at his kid's antics. They were learning to be kids. It was normal, considering they never got to be kids before.
Sonic had to be an adult for 10 years, trying to survive without being spotted. Knuckles lost his entire tribe, then got betrayed by.. *sigh* with Tails, he didn't even know what happened, the kit not having found the courage to share. All he knew that it was something about his tails. Thats okay though. He could wait until the he earned his trust.
His thoughts were broken by a loud boom. Tom almost jumped as his car went crazy out of nowhere- lights kept going on-and-off, the car made all sorts of crazy sounds, the car shook. No matter what Tom did, it wouldn't stop, so he got out. To his surprise- it wasn't just the car. No, his phone was going crazy aswel. Even as he tried to turn it off.. it didn't stop.
"...what in the world?" Tom looked up to where the boom had come from, and started walking towards it. A robery? A bomb? Hunting?
A second boom followed, further away.
Whatever it was- it was his job to check it out. Tom kept a hand on his gun that was on his belt- just incase.
Deeper into the forest.. the deeper he went, the more he saw- slowely, he could see animals and insects running away from whatever that boom did. He could see smoke. And then he saw it.
Just the tiniest bit of blue lightening.
His heart skipped a beat, and Tom ran. "Sonic?" He called out, trying to reach the center ad fast as possible. What he saw, left him breathless.
The center of the chaos was pitch black- as if there had been a fire. Everything around it, trees, grass, it looked ruined.. as if someone had crashed. And between it all, there was blue electricity. In the center...
In the center, a blue hedgehog stood on the ground, leaning on his knees and legs, panting harshly with his eyes closed. His body shook, and from what Tom could see, he was hurt. Badly.
"Sonic!" Tom yelled in panic, running towards him and grabbing his arms, making the hedgehog look upwards. He seemed tired- but his eyes were wide with terror. "Sonic, what happened?!"
"..they were just here." The hedgehog mumbled, looking down again. His arms were shaking. "They were just.. and he.. and then they.."
"Buddy, slow down." Tom tightened his grip. "Who?"
"Eggman." Tom froze. "And Tails. And Knuckles. And Amy." He tried to breathe. "They were- there. The machine. Eggman. The- chaos emeralds.."
And before he could say anything else, he fainted. Tom caught him before he could hit the ground. "Sonic?!"
A third boom was heard.
"MADDIE!" Tom screamed as he ran inside the house, panting from just how much he had ran. The car had refused to work- so he had no choice but to run. "SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH-"
"Donut Lord!" Came a call from inside, making Tom freeze- before a very familiar blue blurr stood besides him, looking spooked. "What happened?!"
"..." Tom stared at Sonic. Then at the hedgehog in his arms who he thought had been Sonic.
