It was a normal morning. The sun was just about to rise to the horizon and finally chase away the moon to make the world shine a little brighter, when birds flew through it's sunbeams and happily chirped away.
A breeze of delicate wind blew through the air, rustling the leaves of the trees and bushes. Some leaves lying on the ground were dragged along by it and blown farther away.
Sleepily, the two Miya twins opened their eyes almost simultaneously and quickly closed them again as the sun shone into their room, lighting it up.
Maybe not as normal as any other day after all, because this one, this one was special. Very special.
Both needed a little time to rub the sleep out of their eyes and realize what made today so special. They both startled at the same time and their eyes darted in each other's direction.
Their eyes widened and with a grin on their lips, the two looked at each other. It were moments like this that got people so confused about which twin was which. Both looked confusingly similar at that moment.
They quickly jumped out of their beds and ran toward the door without much regard for the other. As an outsider you could almost get scared when you saw with what speed they ran to the door. By some unknown miracle they didn't crash into each other.
Well, at least almost.
They argued for a moment who was allowed to go out the door first and threw childish insults at each other while arguing.
"Just because you're three minutes older doesn't mean anything!", said Atsumu while crossing his arms still standing in front of the door with one foot. "Ya can get a lot of things done in three minutes so I would say it does matter and now get outta my way, 'Tsumu!"
Their little taunts continued until the door suddenly opened by itself and a cake appeared in front of their faces.
A normal chocolate cake, but on top of it was a line drawn and on each side were four candles. After all, it was their 4th birthday!
"Happy 4th Birthday!", their parents said at the same time, smiling at the two of them with probably the warmest smile that parents could muster. "Mommy! Daddy!", the two shouted, throwing themselves on top of their parents to be hugged.
Their father, who had the cake in his hands, set it down on the dresser right next to the door to close his arms around them both and give them a kiss on the forehead. Their mother did the same and smiled a warm smile as she looked at her family. Many said the two had their mother's smile.
"How about we go downstairs and eat the cake," she suggested, stroking their cheek and pressing a kiss on their noses. "Later on we can go outside and figure out what to do."
Excitedly, the two nodded at the same time, already knowing exactly where they wanted to go, and started squirming so their father would let them down to run downstairs and eat the cake.
Their father put them back on the floor and the twins ran downstairs to sit down at the table. Of course they didn't miss the chance and fought over where they should sit before agreeing to sit at their regular places.
Their parents watched them with a smile from upstairs for a little while before they went downstairs with the cake in their hands to join them. After all they also wanted a piece of cake.
Of course, the meal didn't pass without the twins teasing each other, but one look from their mother was enough and they smiled sweetly at her as they quickly continued digging into their pieces of cake. Not that mom would get mad at them on their birthday, the two thought.
After they had eaten, they both jumped off their chairs and ran into the hallway to get dressed. Their mother shouted at them to get dressed properly and started to clear the table when she heard the acknowledging sounds of her two sons, while her husband started to do the dishes.
Suddenly, they heard a scream that went through their spines and squealing car tires driving away. "'Tsumu!"
They quickly dropped everything and ran out the open door onto the sidewalk in front of their front door.
Osamu was sitting on the ground at the end of the path, crying.
He clutched the pendant of his necklace with his hands and was shaking all over. Sobs left his mouth over and over again. The tars running down his cheeks, wetting them landed on the concrete as his hand tightened around the necklace.
"'Samu!", his mother arrived at his side first and instamtly wrapped her arms around him pulling him closer to her body. She hugged him tightly and scanned his body with her eyes to see if he was hurt. She wanted to sigh a breath of relief when she didn't see anything but it got caught in her throat when her eyes roomed the place and couldn't find her other son.
"What happened? Where's Tsumu?", she asked worried for her son in her arms and her second son, who was nowhere to be seen.
His sobs grew louder as he clung to his mother burying his face into her chest. "Mom." he sobbed.
It broke her heart to see her son crying like that.
Osamu was always the calmer one of the two. Always there to calm his brother down when he got too deep into something that he started crying.
"What happened?", asked now his father and let himself fall beside the two on one knee. He too was taken by the fact that his normally calm son was crying so violently. His eyes roamed the place until his exes caught the tire prints. Dread coiled in his stomach at the sight. "A-a-car came a-and-", he broke off mid-sentence as another sob left his mouth and just wouldn't let him finish. They continued spilling out of his mouth so he just buried himself deeper into his mother's reassuring embrace.
His mother pressed a hand over her mouth as the tears she had been trying to hold back began to run down her cheeks as she heard what her son was saying. Her grip on him tightened and she squeezed him even tighter to reassure herself as well as her son.
Her husband tried to calm them both down, but was close to tears himself.
I mean, who could blame them?
After all, their son had just been kidnapped.
