Summary
Stede looked up into the eyes of the man he loved, ringed with black and red and scrubbed away tears. The eyes of Blackbeard. He’d never been so afraid in his life. Gone were the soft gazes sent his way in the golden glow of sunrise, the hesitant glances under the moonlight, the determined stare of a man promising to save his life. But at least he was himself again, Stede hadn’t ruined him forever. He swallowed away the writhing, consuming feeling of distress when he remembered what he’d done to history’s greatest pirate.
