someone to watch me die

Summary:

He could see Techno in front of him, Techno's face split in disbelief and horror as he clutched the crumpled photo of Michael and saw what Ranboo was feeling.

"Don't be scared, I'm not scared," Ranboo wanted to say. "It's okay."

But then he saw the silvery-purple blade in front of him, and his quiet peace turned to silent dread.

He'd been stabbed.

Sam had stabbed him. Through the chest.

People don't survive that.

Work Text:

As he fell, he waited for something to come and swoop underneath him, Phil, someone, anyone...but he also knew that he wasn't really falling; he could feel his feet planted, wobbling, on the grassy ground.

The only thing he felt was warmth.

A simple warmth, one that wrapped around his chest and dripped down it. It was around his back, concentrated in the middle of his ribcage. The warmth slowly climbed up his throat, to his eyes, spreading through his entire body like a warm hug.

He was dying.

Dying.

This doesn’t seem like the last time, he thought.

Last time it was sudden, last time it was almost painless, the only thing that he could really feel was the wind as he jumped upwards and a sudden burst of white-hot heat and then nothing, only red surrounding him endlessly until he woke up again.

Tubbo's face swam in front of him as he curled in around the blade jabbed through his gut, the figure of his husband gently cupping his cheek as he coughed out warm, pearlescent blood onto it.

Green and red.

It matched his eyes.

Tubbo’s mismatched eyes, one warm brown and one ghost white, found his own as he fondly rubbed a thumb beneath Ranboo’s eyes, smiling, or at least Ranboo thought he was with his swimming and darkening vision, as he brushed Ranboo’s welling tears away. “It’s okay, bossman,” he said softly. “You don’t need to be scared, it’s okay. I’ll be here the whole time.”

“You…will…?” Ranboo mumbled under his breath, smiling softly back at his husband as blood dripped in a steady river from the corners of his mouth.

In the back of his mind, he registered the sudden absence of cold steel in his stomach, and the swaying of the world around him.

Oh.

When did the ground get so close to his face?

His hand was outstretched, limp on the grassy ground as his eyesight grew steadily dimmer.

Tubbo laid down next to him and took his hand, staring into his eyes. It didn’t bother him, Tommy and Tubbo’s direct eyesight hadn’t for some time.

“...’m scared,” Ranboo whispered, barely able to hear himself as his strength faded, melting into the grass. “Don’ wanna go.”

“It’s okay, Ranboo, don’t be scared,” Tubbo said, squeezing his hand. Ranboo felt bad that he couldn’t squeeze it back. “I’ll be here the whole time.”

Ranboo smiled, a pearly tear dripping down the side of his face, sizzling as it fell down his skin.

And as he finally closed his eyes, falling beneath the grassy hills, he could hear Technoblade screaming his name.
