Falling For You

Summary:

Goro falls and breaks his leg. Ryuji is there to help him out since he remembers what that's like.

Notes:

This is for my wonderful partner, Lunabun! He's been having such a hard time and I wanted to do something to cheer him up so, I wrote this. I hope everyone enjoys this silly little fic too. I used the prompt generator for inspiration!

Work Text:

This is ridiculous. That’s what Goro is thinking as he’s helped onto the couch by Sakamoto of all people. He, somehow, managed to break his leg. Okay well, not somehow. He knew why. One misstep of the stairs from Shujin’s school roof was all it took before he came tumbling down. Someone had spilled water and had not cleaned it up. He knows that Okumura has a small garden up there, but he would not think that it was her who left water all over the top step!

He supposes he should be thankful he didn’t break anything else.

“It’s not ridiculous.” he hears Sakamoto say, as if he read his mind which makes Goro turn his head sharply to look at him. “I’ve had a broken leg and needed help at one point. Remember?”

Goro leans back, gloved fingers to his chin, his index finger curling around it. That’s right. When Sakamoto was a first year and he was a second year, Kamoshida broke his leg in what was claimed to be self-defense, later found out that it was certainly not the case. It took nearly a year after Sakamoto broke his leg for other students to start coming forward about their former volleyball coach. It was also Goro that helped Sakamoto to the nurse’s office to get his leg some ice and called an ambulance for him.

“You are not entitled to help me just because I helped you, Sakamoto-san.” Goro groans as he tries to lift his legs up onto the couch and he watches the blond scoop his legs up gently and put them in his lap. That makes Goro blush, but it quickly fades as he continues to speak. “But, I do appreciate it.”

“I may not like ya that much,” he hears Sakamoto grumble, “but I know what it’s like, ya know? To feel helpless and shit and I was really thankful for yer help regardless. Even if I do think yer a bit pretentious.”

“Pretentious?” Goro scoffs. “I’m surprised you even know that word.”

“I ain’t stupid, Akechi!” Sakamoto gripes. “And watch it or I’ll drop yer leg. That shit will effin’ hurt.”

Goro rolls his eyes. He grabs his phone and starts to browse his food blog, which he’s somehow kept up even as Shujin’s Student Council Vice President. He is a little behind since he’s broken his leg, but he just shrugs and continues to go through his social media pages. He’s noticed that Sakamoto has become oddly quiet as the time passed and so he looks up from his phone to see that his cast has been doodled on in random spots. Some hearts, smiley faces and a message also scribbled across its length.

Let’s get some ramen together sometime. When yer leg is better. - Ryuji

Goro’s cheeks flush as Sakamoto grins wide at him.

“I mean, I guess ya ain’t that bad. Yer strict and yer snobby, but yer also nice when ya feel like it and I like that side of ya.” he continues to doodle on the cast. Where did he even get that pen anyway? “It’s kinda nice to see ya vulnerable like this.”

“Oh. Thanks.” Goro can’t help but roll his eyes again, but it’s followed by a smirk. “I will indulge in your request then, Sakamoto-san.”

“Stop being so formal, dude! Just call me Ryuji!” he huffs.

“Very well, Ryuji. We shall get some ramen.” Goro genuinely smiles and that makes the blond blush.

“Only when yer better.” He folds his arms.

“But maybe I like the idea of you carrying me everywhere.” Goro folds his arms across his chest as well. “I mean, you’re so strong, Ryuji.”

“I mean…” Ryuji rubs his hand on the back of his head. “I guess I am, hehe.”

“I’m looking forward to our date then.” Goro smiles softly.
