Chapter Text
“Hi! Welcome to Seoul’s Lattes what can i get you today?“
“How much is it to fill a Venti with Espresso?”
“I-I’m sorry?”
“A venti cup. How much to fill it with Espresso?”
“Oh. Uh. Well it would be I suppose… I only have a button for Quad. I don’t have a special button to fill the whole cup.”
“Okay so how many extra shots is that?”
“Uhm… it would be a Quad and… 16 extra shots?”
“I’ll have that thank you, how much will it be?”
“I- That would be 10.000 won….?”
“Okay thank you, Yeji for the name.”
The girl goes and sits down at a table, opening her schoolbooks. Lia looks at Chaeryeong in pure shock and they share a look of amusement and curiosity. Lia softly shakes her head and giggles, starting to make the coffee.
Lia presses the buttons for the order and watches in slight horror at the amount of espresso that started pouring into the cup. Because really, what kind of person drinks this much caffeine? To Lia it seems close to insanity.
Once the cup is filled, she walks to the counter, calling out for the girl. She waits for a few seconds but the girl never looks up. Confused, Lia walks to her table with the cup secured between her palms. As she reaches the table she tries calling the girls name again.
“Uhm.. Yeji?”
Lia sighs softly as she sees that the girl is wearing earphones, and focusing on whatever she is reading. So Lia decides to slide into the booth across from her, and put the coffee down on the side of the table that’s not covered in books.
She watches in amusement as the girl doesn’t immediately notice the person across from her, as she’s scribbling something in her notebook. When the she looks up, her eyes widen comically and dart from Lia to her coffee, making Lia let out a soft giggle. The girl takes out an earphone, seemingly putting the music at pause and asks;
“Is this normal at this coffee shop?” The girl seems genuinely confused and Lia can’t stop chuckling because of it.
“Well no not really, but I called you a few times and you didn’t hear me so…”
“Oh! I’m sorry! I’m trying hard to focus well and you know how exam week is…? I think?” The girl says hurriedly.
“Ah that explains the insane amount of caffeine you’re drinking.” Lia’s smile grows a bit wider as she studies the other girl carefully.
“I normally don’t drink this much, but after pulling two all-nighters in a row, I had to, before I died from sleep-deprivation.” The girl says with a slight chuckle.
“Anyway I should stop bothering you-“ Lia says at the same time as the other girl says;
“So what’s your name?”
Slightly stunned Lia stares at the girl before saying
“I’m Choi Jisu, but everyone calls me Lia”
“That’s cool. Is it your english name?”
“My english name is Julia so it’s the short version.” Lia doesn’t understand this girl, and she doesn’t understand why she feels so comfortable with her, but she can’t just walk away either.
“Well… Hello Choi Jisu, I’m Hwang Yeji, and you shouldn’t stop bothering me.” The girl- Yeji’s face breaks into a smile so charming, Lia can’t help but smile too.
