Work Text:

“I’m home Kotaro.” Keiji Akaashi said as he entered the house. As he closed the front door, he was greeted by his husband, Kotaro Bokuto. “Keiji! Welcome back!” Bokuto exclaimed happily, running up to the front of the hallway. But as soon as he got there, he frowned to see Akaashi wearing only a few layers of clothing.

“Akaashi, why are you wearing only a jacket? Aren’t you cold?” He asked. Keiji glanced up at his lover and sighed. “Don’t worry Kotaro. I’m fi-..aaAACHOO!” An sudden sneeze erupted from him. He felt his body shiver from the aftermath of him being in the snow for so long.

“Akaashi..” Kotaro pouted, “I already told you it was gonna be colder today.” He crossed his arms and furrowed his eyebrows. “I’m very sorry dear. I was in a rush to go to work, I didn’t even think of the cold.” This actually wasn’t the first time this event happened. Akaashi is very busy with work that he sometimes makes as his only duty to fulfill. He was so invested with work that he forgot that he was human, knowing how his body would give up on him soon, whether it was the cold or he was just plain tired.

“Well, it’s a good thing that you’re home now.” Bokuto grinned. “Because I just made dinner! Go change and then we can eat together!” “Thank you Kotaro. I’ll be back in a few minutes.” Akaashi smiled.

Because of Bokuto being off season in volleyball, he was able to have more time to be with his husband. After his work at sessions in the morning, he would cook and clean the house. You could even argue that he was a “housewife” when he wasn’t working, as his friends would sometimes joke. From Akaashi’s point of view, Bokuto is an amazing cook. For today’s menu, he was serving curry beef and onion stir fry with rice on the side.

Dinner was quiet. But it was a sweet type of quiet. Bokuto would tell stories about him and his teammates during his time causing Keiji to reply with laughter. After cleaning up, they would rest on the living room couch, their bodies pressed against one another.

As the television was playing, Akaashi was contemplating to himself, his hands becoming more jittery as he became more anxious. “Bokuto. I think I should begin working now.” He said, trying to get up from the couch to leave. But Bokuto was quicker and tugged on Akaashi’s arm. “Come on ‘Kaashi, you don’t even have to work until Sunday. You worked hard enough. Let’s just rest okay?” He looked up at his lover, his eyes softening to see him leave so soon.

He did make a good point. Keiji worked hard during his past few days, even if it was snowing. Without rest, he put his heart and soul into his career, and not once have he thought about taking a break. Perturbed as he was, he reluctantly agreed. “I guess you’re right, Kotaro.” He smiled, sitting on Bokuto’s lap. “Maybe I do deserve to rest.” Those exact words Bokuto wanted to hear made him ecstatic. He hugged Akaashi, peppering with kisses all over his face as they both laughed. The rest of the night consisted of them cuddling on the couch as Keiji drifted off to sleep. It seemed like he really did deserve a break.
