Work Text:

The loud beeping of the alarm clock made Miguel groan, but before he could lean over and press snooze a child jumped onto his middle making his eyes snap open and a hiss leave his mouth as he listened to the sweetest giggle in the world.

“Papa, papa! Wake up!” the little girl chanted. Miguel smiled tiredly as he sat up. There on his lap, with beautiful bouncy curls and the biggest hazel eyes he's ever seen, sat a giggling little princess. Her lips were curled back in a playful smile as her face crinkled and his heart melted as he looked at her.

Buenos días, mi princesa ” He said, wrapping his arms around the small girl, getting up completely as the girl in his arms squirmed and let out a giggly scream. Miguel laughed as he slid his slippers on.

¡Puedo caminar por mi misma, papá! ” She exclaimed with a pout. Miguel smiled bigger, squeezing her tighter as he moved out of the bedroom down the hall.

Ah mi princesa, one day you’ll be too big for me to carry.” Miguel pouted back making the little girl huff and squirm even more. Miguel relented and put her down in the living room.

¡Soy una niña grande, papá! ” She continued her defiance as she stuck her tongue out. Miguel rolled his eyes, wide smile still on his face. He ruffled her hair as he continued into the dining room, the little girl following behind smiling.

The kitchen smelled like bacon as he walked in. He saw a blonde with his hair tied half up, his neck covered by the messy mop. Miguel stood in the doorway for a moment to admire the man who stood over the oven. He had on a pair of sleeping shorts and one of Miguel's old band shirts from high school. He was swaying his hips slightly to a song in his head, as he flipped a pancake. His arms that had once fought off so many attackers now made breakfast for the family. He could see the ring glittering on his finger matching the one Miguel was also wearing. He looked further down to where the long shirt was trying (and failing) to cover that perfect round ass. He could whistle and comment on it but there was a 50/50 chance he would get a pancake thrown at him. He watched for a second longer before acting. He whistled at Robby earning a playful glare.

“Good morning to you too.” He replied playfully, returning to his pancakes. Miguel approached swiftly pressing their bodies together as he held Robby's swaying hips. Miguel reached a hand up to sweep the hair on his neck away revealing the tattoo he had hidden back there. It was a simple tattoo but it was special to him. A simple flower arrangement with a saying in Japanese that Miguel couldn’t remember for the life of him. He kissed the nape of his neck as he heard Robby giggle, Miguel's hand traveling under his shirt to feel his husband’s well-toned chest. He rested his head on Robby's shoulder, earning an annoyed sound from Robby. He looked down at Robby’s arms again to see the tattoo piece had finally healed and the colors settled. His left arm covered in pictures and flowers, dedicated to his family and friends. It made Miguel smile.

“We have Violet's birthday party today.” Robby hummed as Miguel swayed their hips together. Miguel hummed back, the sound of cooking pancakes was the only noise after that as they took in the beautiful morning together.

“Daddy and Papa, Jack and Milo won’t give me my doll back!” The sound of a whiny little girl shattered the serene calm they had going on but Miguel didn’t mind. He kissed his husband's cheek before releasing him and turning to his baby girl. She had tears in her eyes as she entered the kitchen. Miguel patted her head before taking her hand and entering the living room. There sat two little twin boys. Originally when Miguel and Robby decided they wanted to adopt another child they had wanted to adopt older children again. Gabriella was already 2 when they adopted her and while they had their troubles they were so happy to have gotten the sweet angel they got. But the moment they laid eyes on the two tiny babies, who had just arrived at the agency, Robby told Miguel they had to take them. Miguel was a bit hesitant until he held the tiny crying boy and he stopped crying instantly looking up with his big green eyes. Robby was at the verge of tears when their agent had told them they might not be able to adopt them if the father decided to keep them. Luckily with some persuasion from Mr. LaRusso and Johnny, the man relented his rights to them. Miguel shook his head as he focused on the now.

The two golden brown haired boys were hunched over furiously working on something. Miguel approached to see they were trying to put a new outfit on the barbie, he felt adoration swell in his chest remembering how they had been so persistent to buy the pretty barbie outfit when they saw it in the store. He cleared his throat having to put on a tough parent look on his face. They looked up at him, eyes wide and innocent, he had to stop himself from breaking right then and there.

“Did you take your sister's barbie?” He asked in a stern tone, the boys hurriedly tried to hide it as their sister stood beside Miguel, upset.

“We try pretty clothes!” They attempted to convey in the still broken grasp they had on English. Miguel softened as he held a hand out indicating he wanted the toy. They handed it over embarrassed. The older girl gasped as she saw the barbie.

Creo que estaban tratando de mostrarte el nuevo traje que compraron para tu barbie ,” Miguel whispered to the little girl. She smiled so big as she hugged her little brothers. They giggled as she told them off for snatching the toy.

“Ok everyone, it's breakfast time!” Robby called from the kitchen as he brought the food out to the table.

Miguel picked up the two smaller boys to set them in their highchairs as the girl took her seat. Miguel sat on the other side of Robby and Gabriella sat beside him. They said a small prayer over the food then dug in.

The house was in an uproar as Robby was chasing the little boys to get them into their party clothes. Miguel watched with a fond smile as he attempted to remember how to tie a tie. Gabriella was wearing a dress with her hair pulled into pigtails and her eyelids had the faintest hint of blue. Robby groaned in annoyance as he looked at Miguel. He walked to the older man and grabbed the untied tie. He made quick work of fixing it, his face tired and annoyed. Miguel touched Robby's hip gently and kissed his forehead.

“Take a break, momma, I’ll get them ready.” he mumbled as he let go to go wrangle the cats. Robby paused before laughing loudly.

“Momma?!” He giggled loudly and Miguel blinked before he realized he’d said it. He recovered quickly smirking at the man.

“Alright, daddy, I’ll take it from here.” He said as he raised his eyebrows and smirked. Robby started laughing harder as one of the twins ran past Miguel. Miguel looked down at them as he heard Robby snort.

“Sure, Papi, I’ll leave it to you.”

The car ride was slow as the traffic crawled, the kids in the backseat started to get restless and more rambunctious. Robby was starting to get a bit frustrated but he lit up with an idea.

He was tapping on his phone before his phone started playing baby shark. The kids squealed as they started to sing along loudly. Miguel grinned and took Robbys hand in his as traffic started to move again.

The party was bumping with kids bop songs. Miguel gave Robby a goofy grin before he got out of the car. Robby sighed, a bit tired of the kids music even though the drive hadn’t been that long. Miguel opened the door for the older girl to get out and the two boys waited for their turn. The dads made quick work of unbuckling them (thanks to a handy trick Amanda had taught them) and they got out of the car. Milo was holding a smaller gift the kids had picked out while Miguel held the larger gift. Miguel was holding Milo’s hand as he trotted along the path to the party and Robby was carrying Jack. Gabriella walked in front of them but not too far, and then they finally arrived at the back garden. Gabriella could hardly hold her excitement in. Glitter was everywhere, it looked like a unicorn rainbow had exploded in the backyard. Miguel grinned as they were noticed.

Gabriella squealed in delight as the birthday girl ran up to her and gave her a big hug. The other little girls and boys gathered around her talking about something. It made Miguel feel so happy, then the other parents started to greet them. Miguel walked with his son to the presents table as Hawk walked up to him clasping a hand on his back.

“You finally made it, El Serpiente !” Hawk exclaimed. The little boy set the present down before letting out an excited noise, smiling so wide. Hawk laughed before holding his arms out and picking up the tiny human. Milo giggled as Hawk spun them around laughing with him. Miguel smiled and put the present with the rest of them. Hawk stopped spinning and held the little boy, then he put him down and did the handshake with Miguel.

“What’s up, bro!” Miguel laughed as they bumped chests. They heard a light airy giggle behind them and Miguel turned to the girl. Moon greeted them and Miguel gave her a hug. Milo got a happy bashful look as he also hugged the pregnant lady.

“How are you, Miguel?” She asked in her airy voice that half the time seemed far away. Miguel smiled and responded. The little boy started to get antsy and Moon took his hand to lead him to the smaller kids play area. Hawk turned back to Miguel and led him to the cooler where Miguel got a Coke. They kept talking and then ran into Demetri who was worrying over a little boy who was playing with the other kids.

“Ah, be careful Alexander! Don’t-” He cut himself off, his worry evident. Miguel shook his head as he greeted the doting parent. Miguel moved from him to the snack table, Hawk catching him up to speed with the latest drama. Miguel looked over the yard, seeing Yasmin and Tory talking with Moon by the baby area. Robby had disappeared but he assumed he was roped into kitchen duty as Jack was now with the other toddler in the play pen. He saw Daniel and Johnny having an argument that didn’t seem aggressive, which was a relief considering what happened at Christmas last year, Anthony and his newest girlfriend were playing some game and bickering back and forth. Miguel walked with Hawk inside the house and saw his lovely husband was already chopping veggies. He snorted as he watched Robby for a moment before Sam caught his shoulder and noticed it was him.

“Miguel!” She exclaimed in a happy sort of shocked way. This prompted Robby to snap his head up and make eye contact with Miguel, his brow already breaking a sweat, he looked a bit ashamed and bashful when they locked eyes. Sam noticed Miguel looking past her and also looked at Robby. She elbowed Miguel, prompting the taller to oof in pain.

“Leave him alone, he’s being helpful; unlike you.” She said before shooing him out of the kitchen.

“Hey! Alright, alright!” He said but before he got to the door he swerved and surveyed the kitchen, seeing his mom at the stove stirring something. He quickly approached her, Sam right on his heels. He tapped her shoulder and she gave him a ‘I’m not gonna save you look’ before sticking her cheek out. Miguel greeted her and gave her a chaste kiss before being towel snapped by a stressed out Sam. Amanda laughed as she watched it all go down.

Back outside he was called over by the dads, their argument seemingly needing a second opinion. He groaned internally before putting on a big smile and going over to them.

“Miguel, you gotta hear this fool, he says that if you would’ve fought Robby at the last tournament, Robby would’ve won!” Johnny scoffed as he flipped the burger. Miguel chuckled light-heartedly. It was the new 1984 debate the two had been having since Miguel returned from Mexico. Daniel shook his head rolling his eyes.

“Look, no offense to you, but Robby definitely would’ve won! I mean come on!” Daniel said turning towards Johnny. The other scoffed. Miguel smiled.

“Well I guess we can settle that today then? I mean we are doing a rematch!” He said feeling excitement hype him up. Daniel waved his hand in the air.

“Robby‘s gonna win 100%” Daniel concluded, Johnny raises an eyebrow.

“Wanna bet on that, LaPusso?” He asked, challenging the other. Daniel puffed his chest out a bit.

“Yeah, $100 bucks Robby’s gonna beat Miguel.” Daniel said. Johnny scoffed, the challenge getting to his head.

“I bet $200 on Miguel.” Johnny said, Daniel nodded and they shook hands. Miguel smiled and shook his head chuckling a bit. Just then the little pigtailed girl ran up to Miguel, the other kids chasing behind. She squealed as the other kids pouted.

“No fair!” One of them said and she stuck her tongue out at them as they wandered away, Miguel chuckling fondly.

“There’s my favorite granddaughter!” Johnny said abandoning the grill to pick up the little girl, her giggles pitching as he spun her around. Daniel smiled along as well.

“Gabby, can you believe this guy thinks your papa will beat your daddy?!” He asked in an enthusiastic childish way. Gabby gave her papa a once over before giggling again.

“Sorry papa, but daddy is definitely going to win!” She exclaimed high-fiving Daniel. Miguel held his head and groaned as if he was in pain. Johnny scoffed but patted her head playfully.

She ran off, her pigtails bouncing.

Not long after, Miguel found himself in the bedroom trying to remember how his Gi was supposed to go. It shouldn’t have been all that complicated but for some reason he couldn’t remember the way the first part was supposed to go. That’s when Robby walked in and saw the state he was in. He snorted.

“Looks like the champ needs some help?” He teased, fixing the gi while Miguel chuckled.

“I love it when you dress me, it makes me feel rich.” He teased back. Robby gave him a funny look before laughing again. He tied the black belt around Miguel’s waist and dusted the tallers shoulders. Miguel snaked an arm around his waist and kissed his cheek. Robby wrapped his arms around Miguel's shoulders.

“We gotta go, they’re expecting a fight.” He whispered, his mind clearly elsewhere. Miguel laughed a bit before he kissed him one last time.

“Yeah I gotta win or your dad's gonna kick my ass.” He said, Robby gave him a confused amused look. “Your dad and Daniel placed bets on who was gonna win, $200.” Robby scoffed, amused.

“I can’t believe my own father would bet against me,” he replied, almost sounding like a moody teenager. Miguel laughed, grabbing the other's hands.

“Don’t worry, our daughter thinks you’re gonna win too.” Miguel said with a smile, Robby hummed happily. Miguel interlocked their hands and kissed the elders' forehead. They walked out to the waiting area and heard loud hype music playing as Sam stood on the platform speaking loudly. Carmen met them at the place where they would enter. Her eyes lit up as she saw her son and son in law.

“Aw mijo ! You look so cute in your Gi!” She said cupping his cheeks and cooing at him. Miguel chuckled but also groaned.

“Mamá, I’m not a little kid anymore!” Miguel whined, Carmen shook her head while she laughed. Then they all heard an eruption of cheers. Robby had walked out meaning Miguel was up next. She smiled and patted his shoulder.

“Don’t lose, I have $100 on you.” She winked, Miguel laughed a bit as he walked out, his name being met with the same loud cheers. Outside the little kids were crowded around the stage, Robby was on the other side with a smirk on his face. Hawk was giving his little girl a shoulder ride as she watched with the same intensity as her dad. It hit Miguel then that most of these kids would probably end up in karate one way or another, and that they wouldn’t have to fight for their lives like they did. The kids would be allowed to practice in a safe environment because they brought peace to the valley. He smiled and bowed as the crowd roared.

“Ok boys, we’re doing 5 rounds, first to three wins! Got it?” Sam asked, they both nodded and took their sides. They bowed to each other then got into a fighting stance. The crowd was cheering as they went jab for jab, kicks blocked and punches dodged. That was to be expected since even though Miguel wasn’t a professional teacher like Robby, he still trained just as hard as the other. They continued the fight, Robby almost getting the taller until Miguel noticed a weaker point and caught him off guard getting the point. The next point was Robby’s as he started off stronger than Miguel expected and Miguel was pinned fairly quickly. They got up and when they went again Robby attempted the same strategy but Miguel expected it, blocking leaving a critical point open and Miguel went for it, getting the next point. They went again, sweaty but with fierce competitive looks on their faces. Robby got the next point after going jab for jab and tiring Miguel out then getting him down.

The final round had everyone enthralled, cheering and hollering. Miguel and Robby stood on opposite sides looking at each other, they started the round. Kicks, punches and other attacks were exchanged until Robby made a small unpredicted step and Miguel was caught off guard and was pinned. The crowd went crazy as Sam declared him the winner. Robby looked at Miguel, his hair stuck to his head but still shaggy and covering his face. Miguel smiled as he stood up and helped Robby up with him, raising the older's hand. The crowd went crazy and they stood sweaty but happy.

The little pigtailed girl stood with her friends bragging about how cool her daddies were and Miguel cracked a big smile. Robby threw an arm around Miguel’s waist and pulled him close.

“Picture! Picture! Get the boys, I want a picture!” Carmen said as Johnny shook his head with a tired smile. The two boys were passed to the front and the little pigtail girl was lifted onto the platform. Robby held one of the twins while the other was seated on top of Miguel’s shoulders. The little girl stood between them, her smile big. Miguel snuck a quick look at his husband's smiling face. The sweat made him look shiny and his face was definitely multiple shades of red but Miguel couldn’t help but feel his heart soar. He felt so lucky, so blessed to have the little family they’d made and he felt even luckier to have ended up with the most amazing guy in the world.

They faced the camera and all smiled as the camera captured the picture of their perfect little family.
