Chapter Text

Luz moved through the dark surroundings, her feet passing through the black liquid; she had wandered around in absolute darkness if it weren't for the magic cubes floating around, they granted visibility, preventing her from advancing blindly through the place.

Everything was strange with that place, she couldn't shake the feeling that something else was there, but Luz tried not to think about it.

Considering that the portal hadn't taken her to the human realm, something must have gone wrong in the gate's creation.

Well, even if she couldn't make it home, it was a great comfort to Luz that she could use the cubes to give her mother a message.

With this possibility to communicate with whoever she wanted, Luz began to think of an even better idea.

"So, I can communicate with anyone, what about the name of...", she muttered to herself. "Philip Wittebane!", Luz yelled; for some strange reason, her voice resonates and echoes through the room.

She doesn't realize how the echo ceases to be a reflection of her voice and becomes a weak and distorted voice, repeating with an angry tone the name of Philip Wittebane...

The echo disappears and Luz remains unaware of such an event.

She just laughs, barely able to contain her laughter; she looked everywhere, expecting something miraculous, but nothing happened.

"Yeah right, there's no way that would work…", she muttered to herself, shaking her head.

It was a silly and somewhat crazy idea.

The silence remained, Luz sighed and prepared to call her mother; but the sound of something emerging from the water made him stop.

Luz's attention was drawn to that particular sound; she turned around and sure enough, there was a crystalline cube floating.

The cube floated calmly…

The cube floated calmly and Luz stared at it...

"It can't be possible, right?"

Everything was silent...

Then, the cube lit up with a golden light.

"No way!", she exclaimed and ran as fast as she could, trying not to lose the cube.

Something told her that if she didn't catch the cube, it would disappear for her to never appear again; that thought perhaps came from the delay that the cube itself took to show itself.

Fortunately, she managed to get her hands on the glass cube.

Luz can't quite believe it, "This place isn't only connected between worlds, it must also be connected between epochs!", Luz shouted excitedly, holding the crystal cube, and shaking it happily.

This strange place must have created a connection to the past, that's the only valid reason why she can communicate with the only other human available; Philip Wittebane had been alive in the 1600's.

There was no way anyone could live that long...

Even if this human was in the past, Luz had a chance to get valuable information from him.

There's so much she can learn...

The girl held the cube, waiting to see what she would show her; the reflection of Luz appeared on a round surface.

Luz could see only one eye; okay, that was weird.

The owner of that eye seemed to be aware of Luz's presence; she heard a scream, the glass where the reflection of her was shook.

Luz ended up letting go of the cube at how surprising the movement had been.

She quickly retrieved the cube, preventing it from going back into the black liquid; as she held the cube, Luz wondered what that was.

Philip Wittebane was currently working.

He has many pending things, many things to fix.

He was looking at the plans for Unity Day right now, and a single statement consumed his mind…

'It was a bloody mess!'

A single question lay in his head...

'What the hell had that damned impostor been planning?'

Just a few weeks ago he had regained control over his own body.

After an intense fight, Philip managed to lock up the entity that supplanted him for years, in some remote corner of his own mind, waiting, begging that this would be enough.

At the present moment, Philip was studying a large number of documents, reviewing and analyzing the files; he needed to undo this whole mess.

Having finished reading, Philip signed a cancellation order.

Contrary to what the entity might think, Philip Wittebane was considered the emperor, this was his body, his identity; therefore, he can also command.

Thanks to that, the impostor manipulated everyone for years, cheating, lying...

But also because of that, Philip has enough power to be able to undo the possible disaster that could happen.

Due to all the nonsense he was reading, his attention was so focused on his work, that at first he didn't realize that the reflection of the girl appeared in the glasses he was wearing.

At least, not until a blurry shadow on the left side began to bother him...

Philip looked up, and saw the image of the girl in his glasses; he yelled, automatically took off his glasses and threw them away from him.

He held his chest, feeling his heart pounding in his chest; his fearful eyes darted to the glasses, but there was nothing on them.

'Great, now I'm imagining things', he thought bitterly, rubbing his eyes with a tired feeling.

He doesn't have the youth to put up with scares like that; he was too old and woefully vulnerable to dying from those scares...

Well, that last part was a blatant lie, but it didn't leave out the fact that it was painful.

"What the hell was that?", Philip wondered looking at the glasses.

He clutched at his face, trying to believe he had imagined whatever that was, brushing the hair back from his face, breathing slowly, trying to regain control of his racing heart.

Notes:

Philip is an adult, someone who has lived too long; he's not at an age to suffer scares like that.
