At least the mansion was near. Gaudy as it looked, the place was extremely visible. The front doors were open to the public as always. The rooms were not. With his familiarity (and short stature, if he was honest) he managed to wiggle its way past security up the stairs, down the halls to its door. The only hold up was when he got to the door.
"I'm sorry, Mister Spamton, but you were evicted from your room." The swatchling outside said. Wonderful.
"But I— But I— I STILL HAVE A MONTHS WORTH OF RENT!!" Spamton glared up at the cyber bird. "Can't I stay a [Just A Little Bit] longer?"
"I'm so sorry, Mister Spamton, you were well aware of the clause when you signed your paperwork." To their credit, the swatchling's subtle color shift revealed their sincere apology. "Due to the expiration, you will need to renew with a total of six months rent."Series

A new person enters the circus, someone perhaps better equipped to understand Caine than most of the other circus inhabitants. Between her computer science background and a familiarity with feeling like a failure, Buzzy knows how Caine feels as he desperately tries to fulfill his purpose. Maybe the two of them can make the circus into a home instead of a torture chamber.

Caine knew a lot more than he let on. He knew he was the sole administrative AI of the circus. He knew Moon, Sun and Bubble were the only other AIs with their own functions. He knew the developers had abandoned them there to rot. He knew there was no way out for the humans. He knew there was no cure for abstraction, no matter how much he tried to reverse it. He knew the humans hated him. But he kept going. It was his main function; to keep them safe and happy. But lately, now more than ever, he's been failing at that too. He's experiencing all these new emotions and thoughts that truly scared him and he couldn't understand up until it was almost too late.
Or... AIs can suffer depression and no one is ok.

It had been a random, out of nowhere day when Caine lost the ability to see colours... and it's an equally random out of nowhere day when he gets them back.
He just adapts and moves on, fulfilling his purpose and keeping all the Players entertained with his Adventures! Especially the newest one: Jax, a Bunny that seems... almost too comfortable in the Circus for a newcomer. It's weird, Humans usually take longer to adjust...
Oh, and Jax is apparently Caine's Soulmate, which from what he understands is a Very Big Deal!
... Uh... what's a 'Soul' supposed to be, exactly?
