“Hey, can you check my pack for another tin of meat”. Aiden was currently cooking on the small gas stove at ‘their’ spot. Well, as much as heating up beans and canned meat could be called cooking. Hakon sounded off with a “Yup” popping the p just to make Aiden smile. Behind him came the telltale shuffling of his overfull pack being rifled through and like clock work Hakon started grousing. “I don’t, like, I thought pilgrams traveled light” it wasn’t too loud, mainly to himself, but Aiden chuckled none the less. “Some kind of fucking weight training bullshit, fucking hell Kid” was Hakon again over the clink and tinkle of scrap and a few weights, maybe even some blades if he knew his stash. Then it was quiet. Too quiet. The kind of quiet that indicated Hakon had found something.
Aiden turned from the pan of food and found the elder hunched over but not moving, his back toward Aiden, leaving him unable to see what had quieted the man. He went over his mental inventory before Hakon’s shoulders started to shake. It hit him just as Hakon stood up and began a horribly passionate reading of the pink slip of paper in his hand.
“I am active and athletic, looking for a woman who can keep up with me” he said, wagging his brows suggestively as Aiden groaned. “No, dear god-“. AND sometimes take the lead”. Hakon spoke over him. “BIG parkour fanatic” he’d emphasised the ‘big’ with another eyebrow waggled and finally Aiden lunged in an attempt to get the paper away from him. Hakon, of course, side stepped him before wrapping an arm around his waist so Aiden’s back was to his chest. “Hakon I swear to every god-“. “SO, I seek out someone who enjoys getting vertical” Aiden groaned again, doing his best to get the offending paper, but Hakon’s hold on him stayed true. “As much as horizontal” and Aiden slumped, well aware he’d long since lost this fight. In his slump however, Hakon pulled him in tighter, now wrapping his other arm around the younger man, before finishing up by hooking his chin over Aiden’s shoulder. “If you know what I mean”. His tone was exaggeratedly sultry, a pure caricature that left Aiden wanting to find a hole and die in it.
“I fucking hate you so much” he groused as Hakon laughed in delight. “And I thought my little pilgrim was a humble one, eh?”. Now Aiden pulled out of his hold to look at the other man. He poked his chest while speaking. “I didn’t write that shit, didn’t even want one, I just wanted to help some guy out because I’m NICE” he explained, crossing his arms before returning to the stove top, hoping nothing had burned in his short time away. Hakon chuckled. “Oh yeah, very nice” he said, audibly tapping the paper still in his hand. Aiden rolled his eyes.
He wasn’t upset, more playing at it. It wasn’t like Hakon had purposefully gone snooping, he’d been asking to find something. Speaking of which. “Just stop acting like a child and gimmie the fucking meat”.
A pause, a stretch of silence, was all it took for Aiden to regret his word choice before Hakon burst into laughter. Through his laughs he said. “Are you sure Kiddo, this baby here says women, but seeing as you asked so nicely”. And once again Aiden was ready for a hole. A deep DIRT hole that would remove him from this situation.
He braced his hands on the table in front of him and for the third time that evening let out a pained groan. “I’m ready to meet God, lets fucking go” he groused softly, wallowing in his own idiocy for keeping the damn thing. Which he KNEW would be prime entertainment at his expense if this exact situation played out. Boy how right he was. Hakon walked over soon enough, plopping a tin of Spam down before leaning back on the table as he was prone to doing with any surface really.
“Come on Aiden, nothing wrong with looking for a little love”. He cooed teasingly. Aiden Glared at him while picking the tin up and opening it rather violently. “Firstly, im not looking for love, and secondly, I will make you sleep outside”. Hakon scoffed. “Like I haven’t heard that from you before, but we both know you never will mon Cherie”. The confidently smug smirk on his face was well put, because it was the truth. Still made Aiden roll his eyes though.
Aiden went about extricating the spam from the can before cutting it into slices as he spoke. “I should burn that card, fucking hopefully there isn’t another one with that dude”. Hakon chuckled. “Are you kidding me, this is mine now”. Aiden looked over at the man and raised his brow. “What, you gonna hang it over your bed? You got a crush Hakon?” he teased. But Hakon didn’t falter in his reply. “Nope, I’m going to put in in my wallet, pull it out when the moon is full and stare at it longingly of course”. They both chuckled at the dreamy tone Hakon had slipped into for his bit before settling.
As Aiden cooked, he could feel Hakon watching him. It wasn’t bad, or weird, kind of just a normal he’d come to accept far too quickly. At least he was quiet, a blessing after the past few minutes. It stayed that way for a while. The pair made idle chit chat while dinner was finishing up, settled comfortably on the bed as they ate. It was only after food was finished and Aiden had gotten up to clear their paper plates that Hakon brought up that dreaded paper again.
“You know Aiden” he started thoughtfully. “I think your Sparker Card was missing something”. “Fuck me, here we go” with hands on his hips, looking playfully unimpressed he gestured with a nod for Hakon to continue. The man must have known his next statement would rile Aiden up some, because he seemed to brace himself before speaking with a teasing smirk playing along his lips. “Yeah, it forgot to say what a wonderful housewife you make”. And now the bracing made sense. “You fucker!” spouted Aiden before once again lunging at the other, this time though Hakon had nowhere to go but fall back into the bed, easily pulling Aiden along with him.
After a minute of half assed wrestling, ending with Hakon being pinned, the duo burst into laugher, Aiden falling onto his chest after letting his wrists go, the others free hands almost unconsciously coming to wrap around him. When they died down, with a smile clear as day in his voice, Aiden said. “You’re such an asshole”.
