"Well Geek, are you ready?" Sam said as he and Max were getting ready for a special night with the family.
"I guess so Dad." Geek said to her father. He was wearing some casual clothing, and Max was next to him.
"C'mon Geek, let's have some fun at this arcade! Max said as the three got in the DeSoto, and headed off. Eventually, they made their way to the arcade. Neon lights, digital sounds, and many TVs showing that week's episode of SmackDown were in the arcade.
"Well, this is certainly different from the arcades of our days..." Sam said.
"You can say that again Sam! Hey, where's the token machine?" Max said.
"They don't do tokens here, they do cards. You can purchase them at the front desk." Geek said as they did that.
"Ok, did you have to get the most credits on each of our cards?" Geek said as the three entered the arcade.
"Of course!" Max said.
"We want you to have the most fun, and not have to worry about stuff like running out of tokens like we did when we were kids!" Sam said.
"We used to scam kids out of their tokens, that was the best!" Max said.
"Remember that hostage situation you did for Melvin Hargraves?" Sam said.
"Some of the sweetest revenge we ever got on that loser!" Max said as the three played a few games. Sam and Max quickly noticed that it wasn't just Pac Man and light gun games. There was plenty of other stuff in the arcade, mostly ticket games.
"I can't believe they had a Star Wars VR game!" Max said.
"Yeah, me neither! The force really was with me!" Sam said.
"Sam, you're too clumsy to wield a lightsaber, you know that right?" Max said.
"Oh, I don't know, you'd make a pretty good Luke Skywalker, Dad." Geek said.
"Who would I be, Han Solo? A rugged badass?" Max said.
"No, I'd say you would be R2-D2, considering how small and high pitched you are." Geek said, lightly teasing her father.
"Oh, whatever..." Max said as he noticed something he had never seen before. It was a Spongebob Squarepants arcade game, but with coins.
"Uuuuh, Sam, what's that?" Max said.
"Hell if I know! I've never seen a contraption like that in my whole life!" Sam said.
"Don't say "contraption" Sam, it's obviously not a real word." Max said.
"It's called a coin pusher. It's pretty simple to understand." Geek said as she tapped her card.
"Basically, you push the button, which launches a coin. You want to time it for the pineapple, which spins a wheel, which leads to more tokens being added. Basically, you want the coins that are being pushed to fall down, as well as the cards. If you get all of them, you get a big ticket bonus." Geek said as she gave an example. She managed to get a few tickets, which the machine gave out to her. She put it in her pocket.
"Sounds easy as hell!" Max said as he tried to do what Geek did.
"Hrgh!" Max said as he swiped his card again, trying to get the coins to get into the pineapple. He managed a few times, and kept on trying to get the cards and coins to fall down.
"I WILL WIN THESE CARDS!" Max cried out as he swiped again.
"Max, calm down!" Sam said.
"I will do it Sam!" Max said. Geek watched her fathers struggle to win the coin pusher, when she decided to instead just head to another part of the arcade. She had her eyes on that sweet pair of fuzzy dice that they had at the prize corner. Sucks that it costs a lot of tickets to get. Eventually, she passed by the Halo arcade game. She noticed two lagomorphs were playing the game. One with cream-colored fur and a black hoodie, and another wearing what seemed to be some infiltration outfit, he also had white fur, and black spots all over him that looked like stars. She had never seen something like that before.
"Damn! Out of health!" The rabbit with the hoodie said.
"I'm out as well!" The space lagomorph said.
"It's hard!" The rabbit with the hoodie said.
"Yeah, maybe if we had someone else to play, it would be better!" The space lagomorph said as he turned around, and saw Geek watching them.
"Hey kid, grab a gun!" The space lagomorph said.
"K-kid?! I'm 18!" Geek said.
"Whatever, just take the gun!" The space lagomorph said. Geek decided to do just that, and swiped her card. She started shooting. Eventually, the three had managed to finish the game.
"Alright we did it!" Geek said, the three having high-fived in accomplishment.
"Alright, thanks, uuuuh..." Geek said.
"Well, my name's Gabriel, and this over here is my boyfriend, Jupiter." Gabriel said.
"Nice to meet you two, my name's Darla." Geek said.
"Well, nice to meet you as well!" Jupiter said as he shook Darla's hand with his paw.
"What's up with the get-up, you look like you came from space!" Geek said.
"Well, actually, I did! Lagomorphius Recon Unit #401!" Jupiter said. Geek noticed a holster on his waist, with a laser pistol on it.
"Huh, your gun looks almost exactly like my Pop's..." Geek said.
"Well Geek, we'll make it up for you in return. I assume you're out of money on your card, right?" Gabriel said.
"Yeah." Geek said.
"Well, we've got unlimited access with our special cards." Gabriel said.
"We can get some tickets for you." Jupiter said.
"How can you afford that?" Geek said.
"Well, I am a successful indie developer!" Gabriel said.
"Really? That's so cool!" Geek said.
"I know, now c'mon, lead the way." Gabriel said as Geek led the three to a Dizzy Chicken game.
"Ah, Dizzy Chicken, we meet again!" Jupiter said as he glared at the machine.
"You have some type of grudge against that machine?" Geek said.
"Well, it's more like he's spent a lot of time trying to win the jackpot." Gabriel said.
"I've been doing some research into these types of games. Usually, they're rigged, but if you know how hard to flip the lever, you can actually get the jackpot every time! Watch." Geek said as she proceeded to do just that, and won the jackpot on her first try.
"Wow, Darla, you're a genius!" Gabriel said.
"H-How?!" Jupiter said, in shock of what he was saying.
"Why don't you try?" Geek said as Jupiter tried to replicate what Geek had done, managing to get it.
"I won!" Jupiter said.
"I've been doing a lot of research, and know how to get the win on all of these games." Geek said.
"Well why don't we try? I've really been wanting that new game that's in the prize corner." Gabriel said.
"And I want the sour candy that's there." Jupiter said.
"Well, I want you two to get me some fuzzy dice then." Geek said.
"Sure." Gabriel said. Later on, the three were carrying thousands of tickets, and they all got what they wanted.
"Alright, well, thanks Darla!" Gabriel said as he held onto his new game.
"We got some good stuff!" Jupiter said as he snacked on his favorite sour candy.
"No problem, thanks for getting me that fuzzy dice for my parent's DeSoto." Geek said.
"Wait, DeSoto... You mean you're the kid of that dog and rabbit that are detectives?" Gabriel said.
"Yeah, how do you know?" Geek said.
"We're friends with their brother, the rabbit with the bullet hole in his ear? Do you know him? He's married to an elder god." Gabriel said.
"Uncle Sean? Yeah, I know him, how's he doing?" Geek said.
"Good, his husband decided to grow some horns recently, they look good on him." Gabriel said.
"Well, that's cool. It was nice meeting you." Geek said.
"See you around!" Jupiter said as he and Gabriel left. Geek decided to go find her parents, and they were still at the coin pusher.
"Sam, c'mon! Just one more game! I've almost got all the cards!" Max said.
"No little buddy, you've become as addicted to this as a gambler is in a casino!" Sam said.
"What's happening?" Geek said.
"Oh, I'm just trying to help your father overcome his new addiction." Sam said.
"IT'S NOT AN ADDICTION SAM!" Max said.
"Denial is the problem." Sam said.
"Let me try." Geek said as she tried the coin pusher, and managed to get the last card.
"Here you go." Geek said as she handed the last card to Max, he now had a complete set.
"Aw, thanks Geek!" Max said.
"No problem, now what do you want to do?" Geek said.
"Fizzball?" Max said.
"Hell yeah, I'm down with that. Let's go pick up some beer cans on the way home so we can play it." Geek said as the three left the arcade, ready for a fun time at home.
