Alex arrived at the monthly poker night, held together with the other high tier villains. They greeted the others that had already arrived and sat down to join the game. Other villains trickled in during the first rounds, joining the game as they arrived.
As the night progressed the villains chatted and played, teasing each other about heroes foiling their plans and plans just failing in general for one reason or another. Most avoided teasing Alex though, firstly to not risk Alex fury and secondly because their plans rarely failed anyway.
After a few hours of playing, gossiping and teasing, Turquoise Troll said, “I got another 3 ‘This has gone on for too long, and now you’re going to pay’ this month, raising the amount of times I heard that one to 287”. Alex nodded slightly, "I've also heard that one several times this month, my total is now at 355". More villains chimed in with their own number updates, also adding new lines that they had heard.
"Can you believe I heard 'We’re going to fuck your face!' again though? It is much rarer, it has been awhile since it was last heard for anyone I believe," Alex chimed in as the less popular lines started being mentioned. "Yeah, haven't heard that one for several months," agreed Rex.
"Speaking of rare lines, Chad seems to have found a new favourite that I only hear from him," Turquoise Troll said. "Have any of you noticed 'I’m here to Chad you away' from him or anyone else?".
Alex considered it, "Yes, now that you mention it I have started hearing that from Chad, no one else though and only in the last month," they then answered in a thoughtful tone. Blue Cranium added his own thoughts on the topic, "it is a very Chad specific line though". He then turned to Rex, continuing with "I don't understand how you can stand him". Rex turned away ignoring the comment, hiding the fact that he was slightly blushing (or at least trying to, Alex caught it, but chose to not mention it to the others so he could use it against Rex at a later time instead).
When the discussion of different heroic lines eventually started tapering out Alex stood up and walked over to the notice board where the villains had collected the heroic lines and their total count. They updated the numbers for the lines that had been mentioned during the evening, having kept track and summarised while talking. "Looks like ‘This has gone on for too long, and now you’re going to pay’ has overtaken the leading one from last month," they announced before adding the new Chad line to the section dedicated to Chad specific lines, together with the score it had tallied up as well.
Once all updates were done, Alex sat back down for one last game before heading back home. The other villains were heading off as well, some staying for a few additional games, others leaving immediately after the heroic lines updates were done.
As Alex got home they found Morgan asleep on the couch in the living room, clearly having nodded off while waiting for them to be home. Smiling, Alex covered Morgan with a blanket, tucking them in nicely. They couldn’t help themself and pressed a quick kiss to Morgan's brow. Hoping Morgan didn’t notice, they then headed off to bed themselves.
