One of Nimbasa City’s Subway Bosses is missing.
There’s a notice posted in Gear Station. Effective immediately and until further notice, the Multi and Super Multi Trains will no longer be in service. The Single, Super Single, Double, and Super Double Trains will now be running on reduced schedules. We appreciate your understanding and apologize for the inconvenience.
The remaining Subway Boss now handles everything on his own. His smile’s turned hollow, his chipper demeanor a clear facade. Passengers have a hard time looking him in the eye. Those who knew him before say it’s simply too sad to see the light no longer there, to see this broken shell of the man they once knew. Those who have only met him since he’s taken over say it’s because there’s something unsettling there, glinting just beneath the surface. The kinder ones say it must be exhaustion. After all, he now takes care of the subway himself, and he’s still searching for the missing Subway Boss too. The ones with a more bitter streak say he’s simply gone off the rails without his brother to keep him on track.
The Battle Subway is no longer the same exhilarating experience it once was. Before, trainers of all skill levels rode, just to have fun and see how far they and their Pokémon could push themselves. Now, only the most serious of trainers dare to ride. They’re the only ones brave enough to face the challenge at the end of the trip.
The whole city feels the absence of the missing Subway Boss. The whole city is keeping a close eye on the one that remains, for countless reasons of their own.
He knows they are looking at him. He can sense their stares when his back is turned. He feels like the subject of an experiment. They are all waiting to see what he will do next.
He is going to come undone.
