Chapter Text
After all that happened in amphibia Sasha finally understood why everytime she was around Anne back home she felt a flustered feeling that she never felt; well, not for boys.
There has been a little kiss in amphibia, a stupid dare of Sprig that Sasha kind of appreciated: of course they kissed before that, for others dare or just to joke around, but that was a completely different kiss.
Long story short? After their return on earth it took almost a year for them to start dating even tho they both were obliviously over each other (so much that took Marcy to the desperation), and Sasha didn't even get the satisfaction of asking her out, because Anne was quicker; and today was the day of the date.
Sasha was agitated as she had ever been, on what to wear, how to act and where to go; she was so desperate that she even asked Marcy for tips on how to dress and she made her wear a yellow and blue short-sleeved shirt and shorts up to the knee.
She quickly said goodbye to her mom, she didn't tell her about her date with her now? I guess, ex-best friend and soon to be lover, because of the fear that was keeping her in the closet.
She started walking towards Anne's house, just a few minutes away from hers, and started wondering if after this date their friendship would be different: would they still be best friends even though their love? Did Anne even loved her the way Sasha did? Marcy kept saying that it was obvious, but for Sasha it wasn't.
Lost in those thoughts she arrived at her friend's house, and quickly rang at the doorbell.
Anne's mom opened the door and chatched in a hug Sasha, she loved how she was like a member of the Boonchuy family; after the separation of their parents she started to come over to the boonchuy household very often so that Anne could cheer her up a bit, and her parents sympathized her a lot because of that.
"You look amazing Sasha! Tell the truth, you set yourself up for Anne, aren't you?" She said with a smile that made the question a bit less uncomfortable for the blonde girl; "Well… it was about time…" Sasha managed to say to the Thai woman that giggled in response. "Oh come on mom! Just leave her alone won't you?" Anne said, pushing her mother away in a tough but yet gentle way.
"I'll take her home by 11 PM mrs. Boonchuy!" Sasha managed to say with a big smile on her face, finally she got a date with the girl she love since she was 13 years old! And lots of time passed, they were now going to be 16 soon, and her feelings for the Thai girl still were the same; even though she denied it for months, because she was her best friend, she couldn't do it anymore.
Her dark brown but still clear eyes drive her crazy all the times she met her gaze for more than a second, her curly hair, that would be impossible to keep in order in Sasha's opinion, used to be beautiful even in the rough weather they faced in Amphibia, and her lips were the part of Anne that she wanted more than anything.
Probably she asked Marcy for dressing tips too, because she was dressing just like she would: a white NASA hoodie that was way too big for her and blue shorts that were barely visible under the hoodie. That also was driving Sasha crazy.
"So, your mom took it good I see." Sasha broke the awkward silence that was making her tense. "What should she take well?" Anne asked with a giggle of confusion. "Well you know… the date?" Sasha dared to say. It was still a strange word for them to use. Date.
"Oh… I didn't say anything to her" she said laughing and then looking at Sasha directly, making butterflies in the blonde's stomach. "She just kind of figured it out on her own, you know. Moms. Or mind readers." She said in a giggle that made her nose curl.
In a wave of courage Sasha took Anne's hand into hers while walking, blushing and looking forward while he could see with her peripheral vision the also kind of flustered face of the Thai girl. "I haven't told my mom about the date yet… you know what she can be like." Sasha said, taking her mind back to the blonde woman, that since the divorse with her now ex-husband started to act more cold toward her kids.
"Aww Sash! You don't need to tell her if you're not ready!" She said while wrapping a arm around Sasha's neck and messing with her long blonde hair; the knowledge of their face almost touching made Sasha flinch in the start, but almost immediately after that she took again Anne's hand and made her do a spin while laughing. "Well, we don't even know if this date will go well!" The blonde said. "It will go very well."
"Yeah? An' who said it?" Sasha teased.
"Well, it was me, I am always right, as you know" said loud and rhetorically to annoy Sasha a bit, and the other girl dramatically took her hand on her forehead.
They were walking to the beach, where Sasha programmed to eat, when suddenly Anne squished the hand of the other girl to catch her attention. "Hey, is everything okay?" She asked, looking forward to looking out for anything that could have bothered Anne; seeing a group of guys and girls of their age, and Sasha could recognize them as her old group of friends from middle school, the one that kept bothering and kind of bullying Anne.
But Sasha was determined to show them that Anne was changed, and she did to, and if they tried to say anything about the Thai girl, they would get a punch in the face by an ex commander of an army.
"Can we just- I don't know, take another way?" She asked uneasy. "Well, I just want to show them how amazing you've become, I… I think it's important." Sasha reassured with a smile, even though for her it wasn't easy to externalize those feelings; Anne smiled bright and took her hand again and started swinging their arm while Sasha made multiple giggles.
When they arrived near them, it was obvious they would start a conversation, well, with Sasha and not Anne.
"If that isn't Sasha Waybright! You totally disappeared after middle school." A guy talked going near Sasha and hugging her.
Anne at that point knew why Sasha looked uneasy too, wrapped in that hug; after middle school and all the Amphibia and getting zapped away from earth thing, Sasha understood why Anne hated them: they were totally off.
"Yeah, you know, all the "other world" stuff " she said in a sarcastic tone, and she could see Anne looking at them and then at Sasha with a determination she had not seen too many times in her eyes.
"Oh right, that thing, I'm glad you saved us all." another girl came near her and punched her shoulder in a "friendly" way.
"You were actually saved basically by Anne." Sasha said in the end, with a very annoyed tone, how could they not know the person that saved their ass?
"Ah yes…" the boy spoke again, going near Anne this time, making her flinch. "Yeah, I don't think this scared rat could ever even throw a punch to anyone." He said, making all the group laugh and making the Thai girl's face burn a crimson red. His attention went on their holding hands and let out a giggle. "Woah now I understand, you're dating aren't you? Wow Sasha, what a fa-"
He didn't finish his insult.
Anne gave him a strong punch right in his nose, now bleeding, as his eyes were getting brighter, and then slightly blue; "well, my bad, that wasn't a very strong one. Wanna try another?" She said pushing into the ground.
"Geez, come here Harry, we're leaving." Other two guys quickly took him and started walking away, and so did all the group while whispering something that in that moment for the two girls didn't matter.
"Oh. My. God Anne! You were a total girlboss!" Sasha said laughing and giggling with her friend and lifting the other girl in a hug, and then letting go of a string of kisses that she was holding since the start of their date, all over her forehead, cheeks, nose.
One casually went on her lips too, it was awkward in the start, both of them blushing and staring into each other's gaze; but then they figured out that somehow it should have happened, and started to walk toward the beach.
The dinner went amazing: they had pizza and talked about a lot of things, it had been a while since they could have done it since they went to different high schools, but it was still nice as it was when they were kids.
"You remember that… that one kiss? In Amphibia?" Anne asked slowly, while laying on Sasha's crossed legs and looking at her in an indecipherable way. Sasha made a groan of fake annoyance. "Absolutely, it seemed like Sprig knew we were into each other before WE knew ourselves!" She said taking her mind to that night in the tunnels Aka the rebellion's hideout, at the light of only a candle; Sprig had given them a bit of privacy to kiss, although he was probably peeking like the annoying 11 years old frog-child he was.
"Well, now you've got something to thank Sprig for!" Anne giggled and sat up next to Sasha, her knees to her chest and gazing at the calm and blue sea, and the blonde finally thought that it was the perfect moment.
The moon was shining, as bright as the sun, the wind was humming a gentle song in the girl's ears and she couldn't in fact resist the urge of kissing Anne anymore.
She called for her attention, making her look in her direction while embarrassed she looked at the sand, cupped her cheeks and leaned in a slow and still childish kiss on her lips.
In the start the Thai girl widened her eyes in surprise, but soon enjoyed the kiss and went near Sasha, resting her arms behind her neck while playing with her hair.
The moment lasted for what seemed to be minutes to Sasha, that was torn between pushing her hands on Anne's hips or not; eventually she went for it with all the courage she could get, and after a minute of innocent kisses they pulled away to catch their breath and to stare at each other in the eyes.
Finally, Sasha couldn't believe that this was happening.
She hugged Anne in a warm embrace and rolled on the sand, getting Anne on top of her in an innocent way and giggling with her friend, heck, could they still call each other friends?
"I really like you Sash." Anne said blushing all over her face and nose while her hair fell on the face of the blonde girl, her gaze firmly meeting the blonde's; she pulled the Thai girl into a more passionate kiss, over and over. "I like you too Anne, a lot." She said in a warm smile and blushing heavily: who knew that the once commander of an army could be so shy and flustered over her feelings?
After a few minutes of kisses, hugs and giggles Sasha suddenly stopped remembering one thing.
"Hey is everything okay?" Anne asked, seeing the blonde girl getting up and quickly taking all of her and Anne's things.
"I had to get you back home at 11 PM!" She said in total panic. Anne opened her phone: 11.42 PM.
"HECK!" Anne said, and started running toward home with Sasha for her dear life.
