“So,” the boy crouched down behind the sofa whispers over to Mark as he loads a gun without even looking at it. “Do you just like, not die?”
“I don’t ‘not die’,” Mark grumbles, raising a frying pan over his head and wincing as a shot forces the flat metal onto his head. It hurts, but at least he’s still alive. “I’m just really—shit, that hurts—really fucking hard to kill.”
“Huh. Must be nice. You’re practically immortal.”
‘No,’ Mark thinks. If he could find the human embodiment of Life and Death, he’d punch them both in the throat.
